    She is visiting grandmother.

       They are having a party.

    二.Teaching points:

       1.To master some weather vocabulary.

       2.To review the Present Progressive Tense.

    三.Teaching difficult points:

    1. To cultivate the abilities of listening and speaking.
    2. To get some important information during the listening.

    四.Teaching Procedures:

    Step1. Greetings and Lead-in.

    A: What's he doing?

    B: He is playing soccer.

    A:How's the weather?

    B:It's cloudy.

     

    A: What's she doing?

    B: She is  visiting  her grandmother.

    A:How's the weather?

    B:It's rainy.

     

    A: What are they doing?

    B: They are having a  party.

    A:How's the weather?

    B:It's sunny.

     

    Step2. Presentation

    1. Show some pictures on the big screen. Revise and present the new words. 

         A: Whats he/she doing?

         B: He/She is....

         A: Whats are they  doing?

         B: They are ...

         A:How's the weather?

         B:It's ....

      New words:dry, cold, hot, warm,cool.

    2. Ss learn the new words and expressions and try to understand the expressions.

    3. Give Ss some time and practise the conversation.   

    Step3.  Matching  

    1. Read the words in the box in 1a. Then look at the pictures. Match the words with the pictures.  

         Ss match the words with the picture.

        

         1. ____ dry        3. ____ cool      5. ____ hot

    2. ____ cold       4. ____ warm

    2. Check the answers in this way:

      Look at picture...,the weather is.... 

    Step4. Pair work  

    1. Work on 1b. Look at the pictures in 1a. Ask and answer questions about the weather in the pictures in 1a.

         Give an example to the Ss, and teacher is to be A,students are to    be B, then make a conversation;after it,divide the class into two groups to practise the conversation;

    T: How's the weather in the picture d?

    S1: It's dry.

    2. Now work in pairs. Ask and answer about questions about the weather in the pictures in 1a.

      A:How's the weather in picture...?

      B:It's ....  

    Step5. Listening 

    1.Work on 1c:

    Read the chart in 1c.

     Play the MP3 for the Ss to listen and write what Mary and Eric answer to "How's it going?".

      Key: not bad

    2.Work on 1d:

     Listen again. What does Eric answer to "What are you doing?"

          Play the recording twice. The first time Ss only listen. For the second Ss listen and write down the words in the blanks.

     Check the answers.

    3. Work on 1d:

     Listen again. What does Eric answer to "Hows the weather?"

          Play the recording three times. The first time Ss only listen. For the second Ss listen and write down the words in the blanks.,the third time,Ss check their answers,and emphasize hot and dry.

    1. Listen and Repeat.

         Mary:  Hello, Eric?

    Eric:   Mary? Hi! Where are you?

    Mary:  Im in Mexico! Im calling to say,  Happy birthday!

    Eric:   Oh, Thanks!

    Mary:  So, hows it going there?

    Eric:   Great! Hows it going with you?

    Mary:  Not bad. What are you doing?

    Eric:   Im having a party. My family is here.

    Mary:  Oh, that sounds like fun. Hows the weather?

    Eric:   Terrible. Its cold and its raining. Hows the weather    in Mexico?

    Mary:  Hot. Hot and dry. And sunny.

    Eric:   Sounds good.

    Mary:  Uh-huh.

    Eric:   So what are you doing there?

    Mary: Im visiting my grandmother

    1. Role-play the conversation according to the chart.

    What are you doing?

    Hows the weather?
