Can plants talk? Mdern research has fund smething amazing: they d cmmunicate with each ther.
It has been knwn fr sme time that plants use chemicals t cmmunicate with each ther. This happens when a plant gets attacked by insects. The plant gives ut chemicals frm the leaves that are being eaten. This is like a warning, r a call fr help: “I’m being attacked!” When anther plant gets the chemicals, it starts t give ut its wn, different chemicals. Sme f these chemicals drive insects away. Others attract the wasps(黄蜂; 蜜蜂)! The wasps kill the insects that are eating the plants. Scientists hpe t learn mre abut this plant warning system, s that we can use it t grw mre crps.
Mre surprisingly, plants als use sund t cmmunicate. Peple can’t hear these sunds; but plants are making them. Sme plants make nises with their rts. Cm and chili plants d this. Sme trees make clicking nises when there is nt enugh water.
Mst surprisingly f all, plants have an amazing system f cmmunicatin that can link nearly every plant in a frest. Scientists call this system the “wd wide web” . The wd wide web is linked undergrund by fungi(霉菌). It links the rts f different plants t each ther. It is in sme ways similar t the Internet we use. Using the wd wide web, plants can share infrmatin and even fd with each ther. Hwever, it may lead t bad effects. Plants may use it t steal fd frm each ther, r spread chemicals t attack ther plants. Perhaps ne day scientists will learn hw t create a “firewall” t help prevent these attacks within the wd wide web.
