When we moved to China seven months ago, we were very worried about what we would be eating, and how we would live. We never thought that we would fall in love with the Chinese eating habits and style. We also never imagined that we have lost 80 pounds! We thought we should share some of our tricks with you. Here is the Chinese Diet——five easy things you can do to lose weight.
Use a smaller bowl ---much smaller
Go into your cupboard and find your smallest bowl. Now that will be the bowl that you will eat out of. By doing this you actually pick much less food than you are naturally served.
    Vegetables are your main course
For example, you might have one plate of a cucumber dish, one of corn&carrots, and then another with ribs. Find a few dishes that your whole family loves and rotate (轮换) those.
Cut down on your meat & dairy
We eat very little meat. So do most Chinese. We eat very little dairy. It was hard at first. Cut it down and try to limit it to eggs, milk and yogurt.
    Use chopsticks to eat
We love eating with chopsticks and wonder why we didn’t use them more at home. You eat a lot slower, A LOT.
Introduce rice and noodles into your meals
A Chinese diet includes a lot of rice and noodles. So our daily diet is no different, we eat rice and noodles 3 times a day.
We wish we had known these simple tricks back home that make such a difference in our waistline.
    1. Which statement is RIGHT?
    A. I have gained 80pounds when I stayed in China
    B. Eating little meat and dairy was easy for me at first
    C. We dislike eating with chopsticks
    D. To lose weight, you should cut down on the meat and dairy
    2. According to the text, the author_________.
    A. moved to China to lose weight
    B. does not really enjoy Chinese food
    C. became much thinner eating the Chinese food
    D. had known much about Chinese food before
    3. Which of the following is advised by the author?
    A. Learn to cook rice and noodles. B. Keep using the same bowl.
    C. Try all kinds of chopsticks. D. Eat more vegetables and less meat.
    4. People are advised to use the smallest bowl to _________.
    A. eat more slowly B. eat less food
    C. adapt to the Chinese lifestyle D. experience the Chinese culture

In the West, some people believe that personality can be predicted(预测) according to the time of the year the person was born. From China comes the belief that the year of birth influences one’s personality. In the past century, a new belief has arisen: the idea that personality is related to one’s ABO blood type. People with blood type A, for example, are considered more likely to be serious, hard-working, and quiet, while people with blood type O are likely to be popular and outgoing, yet often unable to finish what they start. Though this belief continues to be strong, some people question whether it is true.
The blood-type personality theory(理论) started in Japan in 1927 when Furukawa Takehi noticed personality similarities and differences among his workers. This idea soon went out of fashion, but was brought back by a Japanese television host named Toshitaka Nomi in the 1970s. The belief is still strong in Japan and is increasingly popular in neighboring countries. Some young Koreans have taken to the theory. A recent study showed 76 percent of Koreans aged between13 and 64 believing in the blood-type personality connection. Though most Asians might believe in the blood-type theory, for many it seems harmless and not something to be taken too seriously.
Is the belief true? The scientists in Asia largely dismiss the belief as a modern-day superstition(迷信). Most studies have failed to find any strong connection between blood and personality. Generally, scientists warn against making predictions or important decisions based on this questionable theory.
    5. The writer uses blood type A and O as an example to explain ________.
    A. the connection between personality and blood type
    B. the relationship between the two blood types
    C. the influence of blood type on one’s behavior
    D. the difference between the two blood types
    6. What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 2 mean?
    A. It was lightly believed. B. It was brought to them.
    C. They liked and accepted it. D. They stole the idea from others
    7. Which of the following is true according to the passage?
    A. Most scientists in Asia don’t believe in the theory.
    B. The blood-type theory began in Japan in the 1970s.
    C. The blood-type personality theory is about blood type.
    D. People don’t change their personality to match the theory.
根据第一段第三四句“In the past century, a new belief has arisen: the idea that personality is related to one’s ABO blood type. People with blood type A, for example, are considered more likely to be serious, hard-working, and quiet, while people with blood type O are likely to be popular and outgoing, yet often unable to finish what they start. 故选A项。
根据第二段第五句“ A recent study showed 76 percent of Koreans aged between13 and 64 believing in the blood-type personality connection.

We have to admit that reading is not a pleasant thing at school. Reading is not based on a child's interests, but to cope with tests. When children are little we make them read aloud, before the teacher and other children, so that we can be sure they "know" all the words they are reading. This means that when they don't know a word, they are going to make a mistake, right in front of everyone. After having taught fifth-grade classes for four years, I decided to try at all costs to rid them of their fear and dislike of books, and to get them to read oftener and more adventurously.
One day, I said to them, "Now, I would like you to read a lot of books this year, but I want you to read them only for fun. I am not going to ask you questions to find out whether you understand the books or not to ask you what words mean. If you understand enough of a book to enjoy it and want to go on reading it, that's enough for me."
The children sat shocked and silent. Was this a teacher talking? One girl, who had just come to us from a school where she had had a very hard time, looked at me steadily for a long time after I had finished. Then, still looking at me, she said slowly and seriously, "Mr. Holt, do you really mean that?" I said just as seriously, "I mean every word of it."
Later, she really astonished me. One day, she was reading at her desk. From a glimpse of the illustrations I thought she was reading Moby Dick(白鲸).I said, "Don't you find parts of it rather heavy going?" She answered, "Oh, sure, but I just skip over those parts and go on to the next good part.”
This is exactly what reading should be. Let the students make their own decisions, find something, dive into it, take the good parts, skip the bad parts, get what you can out of it and go on to something else.
    8. What did the teacher tell his students to read for?
    A. For pleasure. B. For knowledge.
    C. For a larger vocabulary. D. For higher scores in exams.
    9. On hearing the teacher's talk, how did the children probably feel?
    A. Stupid. B. Unreasonable.
    C. Understandable. D. Too good to be true.
    10. What can we learn from the girl?
    A. She skipped over those easy parts while reading.
    B. She turned out to be a top student through reading.
    C. She had a hard time finishing the required reading tasks.
    D. She learned to appreciate some parts of the difficult books.
11 What is the teacher's point of view in the passage?
    A Reading requires teachers' guidance.
    B. Reading helps students do well in school.
    C. Children should be left to decide what to read.
    D. Children can not tell good parts from bad ones.
A 9. D 10. D 11. C

故填go。
故填was pushed。

分析句子结构可知,“___ I could give a big push to her.” 故填if或whether。
故填with。
故填but。
故填or。

I like singing, but I’m not brave enough to sing in public. Last term I go to the birthday of my cousin. She invited me to sing him a song, but I refused. I was worried I would laughed at by her friends. However, see her a bit down, I decided to give it the try. Everything was difficulty at the start. My face felt hot, but my voice sounded low. Strange, after a little while I was not afraid of anymore. Once I finished they cheered. I finally realized that we could make progresses only by setting aside our fears.
1. go→ went
    2. him→ her
    3. laughed 前加be
    4. see→ seeing
    5. the→ a
    6. difficulty→ difficult
    7. but→ and
    8. Strange→ Strangely
    9. afraid 后去掉of
    10. progresses→ progress
主语是she,宾语也要用宾格her,故将him改为her。
故laughed 前加be。
故将the改为a。
短语be afraid of 后一般接宾语,而本句of 后没有宾语,因而是多余的,故afraid 后去掉of。

Dear Fred,
Glad to hear from you. I'd like to tell you about our study tour “Into Xi'an” last weekend.
We set off at 7:00 am on Saturday. After arriving in Xi'an, we went to visit Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum, where we saw the wisdom of ancient Chinese people. In the evening we went out to watch some shadow plays, an ancient form of Chinese storytelling. The following day we climbed the famous Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Standing on top of it, we had a great view of the city. After that, we tasted some delicious local foods. It was 5:00 pm when we started home. I feel lucky to have spent such a lovely weekend in Xi'an relaxing and experiencing the local culture.
If you'd like to visit Xi'an, I would be willing to show you around.
    Yours,
