When 45-year-ld Randy Pausch was diagnsed with pancreatic (胰腺)cancer, he chse t fcus n living rather than dying. As a cmputer science prfessr at Carnegie Melln University, Pausch was asked t deliver a “last lecture”. This well-knwn campus traditin allwed prfessrs t share wrldly wisdm with students as if they were dying and had ne last lecture t give.
The nly difference in Pausch’s case is that Pausch really was dying, but it nly mtivated him mre. He delivered his last lecture, “Really Achieving Yur Childhd Dreams” n Sept. 18, 2007.
Pausch began by sharing several f his byhd dreams, sme f which he had achieved and the thers he hadn’t. He described the imprtance f having dreams and hw anyne can still learn a lt by reaching fr thse dreams, even if they dn’t always succeed. He shared the values learned thrugh experience, which he hped t pass n t thers hard wrk, hnesty, laughter and gratitude.
Pausch’s last lecture received a great deal f praise and attentin. It became a crazy YuTube hit, and in Octber 2007, he presented an abridged (删节的)versin n “The Oprah Winfrey Shw”.
