I grew up with a four-year gap between myself and my younger brother. It was a distance in age to keep us close as we got older, but also an age gap to make sure we lived our own lives in completely different ways. Having a younger brother while I was a girl was a lot of work, for there was a lot of fighting.
However, as we've got older, we've become closer, and I've learned several things in life from my younger brother that I didn't realize I needed before.
My younger brother is one of the most talented and creative souls I've known. He's continually feeding his creativity with new art forms and new instruments. He always seeks to understand and learn more about the world around him. He's helped remind me through his actions and words that giving up on creativity is something a person should never do.
My younger brother has also been through hard times, but he's able to focus on learning from the hard times, unlike me, who tends to hold on to every little thing from my life. It's always been difficult for me to let things go and move on, but my younger brother has been an inspiration for me to try harder at letting go.
My younger brother has always been a more introverted type, and if you speak to him, you're lucky to get over three words out of him at a time. Because of this, he's certainly learned the whole "actions speak louder than words" thing. But, I've realized from my brother that I needn't speak to fill the silence. Sometimes, it's necessary to spend some of your time in silence and reflect in it.
24.What does the author think of growing up as the older sister?
A.Boring but warm. B.Peaceful and easy.

A.Trying to learn new instruments. B.Keeping feeding her creativity.
C.Moving on with the past kept in mind. D.Focusing on little details of everything.
26.What might the introverted people be like according to paragraph 5?
A.They are quiet. B.They are talented.
C.They are positive. D.They are friendly.
27.What is the best title for the text?
A.The Relationship between My Brother and Me
B.The Great Spirits of My Younger Brother
C.Advice Provided by My Younger Brother
D.Lessons Learned from My Younger Brother
As people are becoming more socially concerned about where their food comes from and how it impacts the planet, they are choosing animal-free plant-based options. Cow-free meat has been around for quite some time and the popularity of brands of the cultivated (培育的) meat is rising. While there are a large number of plant-based milk substitutes (替代品), none of them have the same taste of cow’s milk. Now, a food-tech company created real dairy products (奶制品) without harming a single cow or the planet.
The company stresses that their product produced in the lab is not a milk substitute but rather is the real deal. And it is very healthy. The company also says that the lab-produced milk tastes the same as the real thing and they hope to eventually replace cows by creating every dairy product sold. They expect to roll out plant-based cheese and yogurt in addition to milk. “ Our company was founded with the mission to stop using animals to produce our food because, as dairy lovers, we realize that giving up on milk is not a choice, ” John said. “ But today’s milk comes with an unreasonable environmental price tag. The dairy industry is destroying our planet, our health, and our animals, and is simply not sustainable (可持续的) anymore. ”
The environmental price tag of dairy farming is too high. According to the World Wildlife Fund, dairy cows add a huge amount of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere and contribute to global warming and climate change as well as pollute the air around them. Dairy operations consume large amounts of water and run-off of manure (粪肥) and fertilizers from these farms get into local waterways. The production uses only 5 percent of the resources and produces only 1 percent of the waste of producing cow’s milk according to the company. And they accomplish this by being 100 percent cruelty-free unlike dairy farms.
28.The food-tech company’s milk mentioned in the text is different from other milk substitutes ________ .
A.its various plant-based tastes B.it tastes the same as cow’s milk
C.its highest output from the farms D.its broad popularity home and abroad
29.What can we know from John’s words in paragraph 2?
A.Prices of cow’s milk are rising these days.
B.All the destructive dairy industries should be closed.
C.The food-tech company was set up for animal protection.
D.The food-tech company aims to produce animal-free food.
30.What does the underlined word “ them ” probably refer to in the last paragraph?
A.Dairy cows. B.Dairy operations. C.Climate changes. D.Greenhouse gases.
31.Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A.Healthier Milk. B.New Milk Saves Planet.
C.Fresher Milk, Better Future. D.Making Milk without Cows.
Increasing numbers of airports, especially in Europe, are promoting a “silent airport” idea. It is to reduce noise pollution, such as airport-wide announcements, without sacrificing timely and helpful updates of information.
International airports were once characterized by their high voices, competing gate announcements and so on. This is all changing. Angela Gittens, director general of Airports Council International (ACI), says there is a growing desire among airports and airlines they serve to create a calm, relaxed atmosphere without being disturbed by announcements. “Passengers can relax while they wait for their flight to board in the common airside lounges(休闲区), and food and drink areas,” she says.
In June, Helsinki Airport in Finland—a country where the tourism slogan(口号) is “silence, please”—became the most recent airport to adopt the silent concept. As part of its commitment to quieting things down, announcements for flights are made only in boarding gate areas.
Lost track of time in the shops?
Too bad.
Nobody’s going to call you to your flight, as announcements in all terminals will be made only in exceptional(尤其) emergency circumstances.
Heikki Koski, vice president of Helsinki Airport, says that improved flight information display system and interactive kiosks(交互式自助服务机), together with advances in mobile technology, are changing the way airports communicate with passengers. At Munich airport, InfoGate kiosks allow for video-based face-to-face conversation with a live customer service representative in the traveler’s language of choice. Interactive signs, on the other hand, give directions at the touch of finger. Passengers can tap a “you are here” display to get directions and approximate walking time to their destinations.
Of course, an airport will never be as silent as a temple. There will continue to be a need for airport-wide emergency announcements along with boarding calls. But at silent airports, the latter can be restricted to specific gates, as has adopted in Helsinki.
32.What is Angela Gittens’ opinion on the silent airport concept?
A.It makes airport noise-free.
B.It is intended for passengers’ benefit.
C.It has changed international airports’ reputation.
D.It has encouraged the catering industry in airports.
33.What should passengers pay close attention to at Helsinki Airport?
A.Their boarding time. B.Finland’s tourism slogan.
C.The shop’s opening hours. D.The “you are here” display.
34.Why is Munich Airport mentioned in the text?
A.To show its popularity. B.To introduce Infogate kiosks.
C.To prove Heikki Koski’s words. D.To be compared with Helsinki Airport.
35.What is the best title for the text?
A.Silence, please. This is an airport.
B.Can airports be as quiet as temples?
C.Silent airports all around the world.
D.Technology helps airports become interactive.

72.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Be a true runner
For me, it was normal to feel lost at the inter-camp track. Four camps of kids were ready to lead their teams to a blue ribbon and win the day. Not me. I was too little to be the leader and too skinny to be an athlete. I knew this by the time I was twelve, because my camp counselors(辅导员)and the other kids reminded me of it every chance they got. So when our camp needed a fourth runner in the two-mile race around the lake, I knew I was no one’s first choice.
I hid in the shade of a maple tree as they called the names of the runners, my body tensed as I heard a counselor call, “Fred! Where is Fred! He is in this race!” It was Barry. He spotted me under the tree. “Fred! We need a 12-year-old who hasn’t been in other events to run the two-mile!”
He gave me a push towards the starting line. Having no confidence and trying to save myself from the shame of taking the last place as four camps watched, I pleaded with him.
“But I don’t know the way around the lake!”
“You’re in. Just follow Bill!” Barry smiled.
Bill was my friend and the fastest runner in our camp. And then Barry said, “When you make it to the last stretch(最后一程)on the field, just throw your head back and run.”
At the starting line, I stood next to Bill and trembled.
“On your mark… Get set...” The gun cracked and sixteen of us took off. I stayed close on Bill’s heels, a little too close for Bill, I guess. He shouted at me, “Back off!”
I did. Two guys passed me, but I kept my eyes on Bill.
It was tiring. The distance was widening between Bill and me. We made the turn from the dusty road onto the muddy, wooded trail that would go around the lake back to the field. Through the trees, I saw Bill trip over a tree root and fall. A runner from another camp passed him.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;

72.One possible version:
In a moment, Bill was up and running. I couldn’t think of anything but to follow him closely. I could even feel the air hitting my face and I was totally worn out. Naturally, my pace slowed down. Just at the moment, Barry’s words “Just follow Bill” called me back. Convinced that I was no longer a loser, I refreshed up again and accelerated and soon I was quite close to Bill again. Injected with confidence, I headed for the finishing line. The gun cracked again, announcing the last 200 meters. I closed my eyes, threw my head back and ran with my last ounce of strength, in the direction of the dream line.
I didn’t know when I crossed the line. I still kept running on when a thunderous applause burst, which signaled the birth of the champion. I stopped and opened my eyes and saw my camp of kids and the camp counsellor gathering around me. “We have won the race! We are the champion!” they shouted and cheered, throwing me in the air. Showered with hugs and applause and whistles, I felt a surge of gaiety sweeping over me. To me, the race meant more than a champion; it well proved that I was not a loser as an athlete and that I could further explore my potential. Just as Hemingway put it, “The true nobility is superior to your former self.”
