1. What is the basic structure of the underlined sentence below?
Going from junior high school to senior high school is a really big challenge.
A. S V O B. S V IO DO C. S V O C D. S P
分析可知,“Going from junior high school to senior high school”是动名词作主语,“a really big challenge”是表语,因此句子结构是SP,故选D。
2. What you learn at school plays a very important part in shaping your behaviour in society. Which part in the sentence is the AdjP (Adjective Phrase)?
A. What you learn at school B. very important
C. a very important part D. in society
分析句子可知,“very important”是由“副词very+形容词 important”构成的形容词性短语,在句中修饰名词“part”,“What you learn at school”为从句在句中作主语,“a very important part”为名词短语,“in society”为介词短语。故选B项。
3. —Excuse me. I ______ for Shanghai this Saturday. Please tell me when the earliest plane_________.
—Just a moment, please I will check it for you.
A. am to leave; will take off B. am leaving; is taking off
C. am leaving; takes off D. am about to leave; takes off
4. —Our school soccer team must have won in yesterday’s competition. ______?
—________It’s too bad
A. didn’t/they; No, they didn’t B. haven’t they; Yes, they did
C. mustn’t they; No, they didn’t D. hadn’t they; Yes, they did
【答案】A
故选A项。
5. It wasn’t ______ he took off his mask ______ I recognized he should be a famous film star.
A. when; that B. until; when
C. when; then D. until; that
用not...until;去掉it was和第二空,句子依然完整,故第二考查强调句,关于not..until的强调句应是it was not until...that...。故选D
6. Whenever I'm seated alone in the room, I find myself to the picture on the wall.
A. attracting B. attracted C. to be attracted D. being attracted
7. Into the dark room ______ David, who became surprised then when ______ “Happy Birthday” shouted by his roommates
A. walked; heard B. walked; hearing
C. walking; hearing D. did walk; heard
8. All the drivers had a______ expression because of the policeman’s ______ traffic directions.
A. confused; confusing B. confusing; confusing
C. confused; confused D. confusing; confused
【答案】A
故选A。
9. It is highly recommended that the general public ______ one-metre social distance to avoid any possible risk of getting infected.
A. keeps B. be kept C. must keep D. keep
10. They prefer ______ the birthday party till next Sunday rather than ______ it without the presence of their manager
A. putting off; to hold B. to put off; hold
C. putting off; to holding D. to put off; to hold
分析句子可知,此处为prefer to do sth. rather than do sth.

Zheng Qinwen announced herself as a major new force in women’s tennis with an import French Open debut (首秀) last month. Now the Chinese teenager hopes the fighting spirit she showed at the Grand Slam (大满贯) tournament can encourage kids starting out in the sport to chase their dreams on the court with the same determination.
“If tennis is your dream, I think you always have to fight for your dream. Because we only have one life, you shouldn’t have any regrets,” Zheng said last week in an interview.
The 19-year-old showed she possesses the talent to be a contender at the very top level of tennis with a breakout campaign at French Open.
Accounting for two-time Grand Slam winner Simona Halep along the way, Zhengs journey was ended in the fourth round by a three-set defeat to eventual champion Iga Swiatek. Zheng, though gave the Polish world No. 1 a big scare, battling back from 3-0 down in the first set to force, and win, a tiebreak
“That was the first time I had played the world No.1, so I really wanted to grab this chance so I could judge her level and test myself,” said Zheng. “I didn’t want to give her the match so easy like that. It was pretty difficult for me to hold on in that match because of what my body was going through, but I wanted to show her I'm not easily beaten.
Looking back at Zheng Qinwen’s performances in this year’s French Open, there’s no doubt that she’s a true fighter. Zheng says she avoids being discouraged by higher-ranked opponents by simply focusing on the next point, one shot at a time.Supported by her team, she hopes she can one day win a Grand Slam title.
Zheng’s impressive French Open run has inevitably led to comparisons with China’s solitary Grand Slam singles championLi Na, who won the 2011 French Open and 2014 Australian Open titles.
“When I was a kid, Li Na showed that Asian people also can do something really good in tennis. She was the first one. I will just focus on my own game and then let’s see if I can really compete at the highest level,” said Zheng.
14 What does the underlined word “contender” in paragraph 3 mean?
A. Organizer. B. Announcer. C. Competitor. D. Designer.

A. Iga Swiatek beat Zheng easily.
B. Zheng lost to Iga Swiatek at last.
C. Zheng won the match despite her pain.
D. Iga Swiatek lost because of her mistakes.
16. Why is Li Na mentioned in paragraph 7?

This July my husband and I decided to move both our kids, aged 14 and 10, from their previous schools to a new international school that’s located in our neighborhood. It wasn’t an easy decision. We knew switching(改变)schools would be a challenge for our kids.
Put two kids in the same situation and they react and feel differently. Nina, outgoing and talkative, has no problem making new friends and adjusting to (适应) the new school. It took her less than a week to say, “This school is great. I like it.” Everywhere she goes, she’s surrounded by friends.
While it took Michael months to say, “I guess this is fine.” Before that, he complained about everything. He’s sensitive and quite hard on himself. Words of encouragement need to be told on a daily basis.
To make our children comfortable before, during, and after the move, we included them in our plan from the beginning. They’re big enough to take part in decision-making activities. We researched, compared, and asked questions. We listed everything about their old schools and the new one, and we discussed every item. We were open with them from the start. Our kids knew what was going on and what was about to happen. They had time to prepare themselves. They trusted us.
Communicating with their new teachers was also important. For the first three months, we kept an eye on our children’s academic (学业的) performance and their school life. If we discovered a drop in their grades or any unusual behavior, we were quick to arrange appointments with their teachers.
We don’t aim to be helicopter parents, but it doesn’t mean we let them go completely. Balancing this role is hard- -the older the kid, the harder it gets- but it’s not impossible. The key is to listen first, and act second.
18. Why were the children probably moved into a new school?
A. The old school is not good enough.
B. They wanted to make more new friends.
C. The new school is conveniently located near their home.
D. The outgoing child can help the shy one in the same school.
19 How did the parents help the children deal with switching schools?
A. By tolerating their behavior in school.
B. By choosing the best teachers for them.
C. By encouraging them to enjoy social life.
D. By having open communication with them.
20. What might the underlined phrase“helicopter parents”in the last paragraph refer to?
A. Parents who send their children to school in person.
B. Parents who pay very close attention to their children.
C. Parents who talk too much rather than take action.
D. Parents who listen to their children all the time.
21. Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?
A. Parents should prepare children for decisions.
B. Children can adapt to a new school quite easily.
C. Children should listen to their parents when making decisions.
D. Parents should communicate with children about their performance.
C 19. D 20. B 21. A

根据文章第一段“This July my husband and I decided to move both our kids, aged 14 and 10, from their previous schools to a new international school that’s located in our neighborhood.(今年7月,我丈夫和我决定把两个孩子(一个14岁,一个10岁)从以前的学校转到我们附近的一所新的国际学校。)
根据文章第三段“To make our children comfortable before, during, and after the move, we included them in our plan from the beginning. They’re big enough to take part in decision-making activities. We researched, compared, and asked questions. We listed everything about their old schools and the new one, and we discussed every item. We were open with them from the start. Our kids knew what was going on and what was about to happen. They had time to prepare themselves.
根据文章最后一段“We don’t aim to be helicopter parents, but it doesn’t mean we let them go completely.(我们的目标不是成为“直升机父母”,但这并不意味着我们会完全放任不管。)”
根据文章第三段中的“They’re big enough to take part in decision-making activities. We researched, compared, and asked questions. We listed everything about their old schools and the new one, and we discussed every item. We were open with them from the start. Our kids knew what was going on and what was about to happen. D
Humans have been living and working on the space station for over 20 years. Their meals are packaged, though sometimes astronauts receive fresh treats from resupply missions. The longer that packaged food is stored, the more it loses nutrients like vitamin C and vitamin K.
Astronauts have successfully grown 10 different crops on the space station since 2015 and had the chance to sample (品尝) each one. The International Space Station hosted a party for astronauts on Friday as they celebrated the harvest of the first chili peppers (辣椒) grown in space. The crew finally had a chance to taste the peppers after initially kicking off the plant experiment on the space station in July.
Plant Habitat-04 is one of the most complex plant experiments on the orbiting laboratory to date because peppers take much longer to grow than the previous experiment plants. After growing for four months, the peppers were harvested on Friday.
Peppers provide a great source of vitamin C, as well as other key nutrients. Pepper plants self-pollinate (自花授粉), so they are easy to grow, and they are a pick-and-eat crop that doesn’t have to be cooked. They are also safe to eat raw.
A side effect of life in zero gravity is that astronauts often lose some of their taste and smell, so spicy or well-seasoned foods are a favorite. Adding fresh greens or peppers to the menu allows astronauts to liven up their regular meals. But growing and tending to the plants can also produce other benefits.
Astronauts have described the joy from seeing — as well as smelling and caring for — leafy green plants on the space station that remind them of Earth.
“Growing colorful vegetables in space can have long-term benefits for physical and psychological health,” said Matt Romeyn, principal investigator for the experiment. “We are discovering that growing plants and vegetables with colors and smells helps to improve astronauts’ well-being.”
22. How is the food astronauts eat on the space station?
A. Always fresh. B. Lack of nutrients.
C. Never tasty. D. Full of vitamins.
23. What makes Plant Habitat-04 one of the most complex plant experiments?
A. The technology. B. Growing process.
C. The varieties of plants. D. Growing time required.
24. Which is the most probable reason for adding peppers to food for astronauts?
A. Peppers are delicious. B. Peppers can improve memory.
C. Peppers help prevent diseases. D. Peppers can restore appetite.
25. Which of the following could be the best title for the text?
A. The Fun of Growing Chili Peppers in Space
B. The Agricultural Goal in the Space Mission
C. The First Chili Peppers Grown in Space
D. The Chili Peppers Used in the Space Mission
B 23. D 24. D 25. C
根据第一段最后一句“The longer that packaged food is stored, the more it loses nutrients like vitamin C and vitamin K.(包装食品储存的时间越长,失去的维生素C和维生素K等营养物质就越多)”可知,包装食品放得时间越长,它就损失越多营养。
根据第三段第一句“Plant Habitat-04 is one of the most complex plant experiments on the orbiting laboratory to date because peppers take much longer to grow than the previous experiment plants.(Plant Habitat-04是迄今为止轨道实验室中最复杂的植物实验之一,因为辣椒的生长时间比之前的实验植物长得多)”可知,Plant Habitat-04是最为复杂的植物实验之一,是因为辣椒的生长周期比其他之前做过实验的植物长。
根据第五段第一、二句“A side effect of life in zero gravity is that astronauts often lose some of their taste and smell, so spicy or well-seasoned foods are a favorite. Adding fresh greens or peppers to the menu allows astronauts to liven up their regular meals.(在零重力环境下生活的一个副作用是宇航员经常会失去一些味觉和嗅觉,所以刺激性或调料丰富的食物是他们的最爱。
通读全文,结合第二段中“The International Space Station hosted a party for astronauts on Friday as they celebrated the harvest of the first chili peppers (辣椒) grown in space.(周五,国际空间站为宇航员举办了一场派对,庆祝第一批太空辣椒的收获)”可知,文章主要介绍了宇航员们在国际空间站首次进行种植辣椒实验的相关情况。

If you’re looking for a reason to care about tree loss, the nation’s latest heatwaves might be it. Trees can lower summer daytime temperatures by as much as 10 degrees Fahrenheit. ____26____. A study published last year by the US Forest Service found that we lost 36 million trees annually from urban and rural communities over a five-year period. There are many reasons why our tree cover is decreasing, including hurricanes, fires, insects and disease. But the one way that humans can control tree loss is through sensible (合理的) development. So how can you help stop tree loss?
Protect what you have. ____27____. We pay for our houses, and so we know that we must maintain (保养) them. But because we don’t pay for nature, we often feel we don’t need to protect it. That’s not necessarily true.
____28____. If they’re small enough, do it yourself or hire a company which can cut off branches that need to be removed. The risk of branches damaging your house is lowered when there’s tree upkeep (保养).
Notice when your trees may be in trouble. Often, you can observe when something’s wrong, such as when branches are losing leaves and breaking or when mushrooms are growing at the base or on the trees. ____29____, or you can contact your local agricultural office for advice.
Don’t remove old trees if it’s not necessary. ____30____. It takes a long time for big trees to reach that size. And once they’re established, they can live a long time. But getting rid of a big tree and saying “we’ll plant another tree” isn’t always the answer. There’s no guarantee that small trees will survive and they take a very long time to grow.
A. But tree cover in US cities is reducing
B. Cut off the dead branches out of your trees
C. Educate yourself about trees and get involved
D. Instead, try taking actions like removing branches
E. You can dig it up and plant a new tree where you like
F. The first step is caring for the trees on your own property
G. You can hire an expert to assess the health of your trees annually
A 27. F 28. B 29. G 30. D
空后说“A study published last year by the US Forest Service found that we lost 36 million trees annually from urban and rural communities over a five-year period.(美国林务局去年发表的一项研究发现,在过去的五年里,我们每年在城市和农村社区失去3600万棵树。)”
空前说“Protect what you have.(保护你所拥有的。)”,空后说“We pay for our houses, and so we know that we must maintain (保养) them.(我们为我们的房子付了钱,所以我们知道我们必须保养它们。)”,因此空格处要说我们要先保护好我们自己家里的树,F选项“The first step is caring for the trees on your own property(第一步是照顾好你自己的土地上的树木)”说明了首先要保护好自己家里种的树,因此F选项承上启下,符合语境,故选F。
空格处是本段主题句,由空后的“If they’re small enough, do it yourself or hire a company which can cut off branches that need to be removed. The risk of branches damaging your house is lowered when there’s tree upkeep
空前说“Notice when your trees may be in trouble. Often, you can observe when something’s wrong, such as when branches are losing leaves and breaking or when mushrooms are growing at the base or on the trees.(注意你的树什么时候会遇到麻烦。
空前说“Don’t remove old trees if it’s not necessary.(如果没有必要,不要移走老树。)”

How to protect Traditional Chinese Culture?
Last Friday, A heated discussion was held in our school hall in order to encourage us students to protect the traditional Chinese cultures.
The students hold different points of view about that. Some suggest resisting Western holidays due to their strong influence. Some argue that we are supposed to hold some creative activities to celebrate traditional cultures so that we can have fun during Chinese festivals. Still others consider various competitions should be held at times, which provides more chances for the citizens to recite Chinese poems and practice calligraphy.
In my view, it is high time that we spared no effort to protect the traditional Chinese cultures. Otherwise, we will regret one day.
