Step1 Free talk

1 Greeting.

Main questions:

Students talk with their classmates in their own groups for several minutes.

2. T: I heard someone is going to travel someplace in the coming summer holiday. Can you tell us where you are going?

S: I’m going to...

T: Is it your favourite city?

S: Yes, it is./No it isn’t. My favourite city is...

Step 2 Presentation

1. The students show the information they have found.

    Let’s introduce our favourite city in this class.

S: My favourite city is ...

T: Why do you like it best?

S: ... (鼓励学生用自己的语言回答）

2. The teacher shows her/his favourite city.

T: Just now, you showed your favourite city. Do you want to know my favourite city? Listen to me.

This is my favourite city. It’s colorful. In spring, it’s light green. It’s very warm and sunny. You can enjoy spring with your family outside. It’s very hot in summer. Sometimes, there’s heavy rain. You should pay attention to the weather report everyday. Autumn is the most beautiful season of a year. I love walking on the yellow leaves on the ground. It’s cool. But it’s too short. Winter is coming very soon. It is not so cold in winter. Sometimes we can see white snow.

There are many interesting places there. Like the Confucian Temple, the Zhongshan Cemetery, Purple Mountain and so on. Every year, there are many visitors travel there. People can enjoy very delicious food there. The most famous food is boiled salted duck.

Now, do you know what my favourite city is?

S: It’s Nanjing.

T: Yes, it’s Nanjing. It’s my hometown and I love it best.

Do you remember how I introduced Nanjing? Can you get the main aspects?

3. The students make a class travel book.

T: Now we have known my favourite city. Let’s write about your favourite city.

First, stick a photo of your favourite city on page 101. (四人小组完成一张）

Then write about the city on it. (The students can write one by one) (小组内其他三位同学负责提问，剩下的一位先回答组员问题，再写下所需信息。)

Don’t forget to write down your names.

Then stick them together.

The class travel book is finished. You can do the show-and-tell now.
