All the students in our school are expected to participate in the activity. The content of the painting is supposed to show the advances in our space industry including the space station, astronauts, spacecrafts, rockets, satellites, etc. All the paintings should be submitted to the Students' Union by the end of this Friday.Looking forward to your participation! The Students' Union 读后续写The days grew warmer and lighter and I started the work myself. What I focused on first was clearing away the weeds that had taken root and spread. Following that, I tended all the lively plants carefully on every single day. I mowed and pruned, recalling how Randy took care of the garden previously. Working kept my hands busy and my mind focused on the task in front of me, which gradually offers me a beautiful garden as well as a sense of achievement.Weeks later my daughters returned to visit me. Hardly had they entered the door when they were deeply struck by the lively garden which was full of fragrant blooms, with honeybees buzzing busily and birds singing cheerfully. I told them it was completed all by myself and during the process, I felt as if Randy were always with me. Realizing the healing power of the garden work, my daughters hugged me tightly, tears welling up in their eyes. Breathing deeply the grassy scent, I knew I was ready to thrive again just like the garden. 听力原文Text 1M: I had a short sleep last night. I can’t sleep because my neighbor’s dog barks all night.W: I have a similar problem. My neighbor’s lights are very bright and they shine right in my face. It wakes me up a lot. (1) I need better window covers.Text 2W: I thought you said you were going to travel this year.M: I don’t think it’s a good idea to take a year off between my studies. (2) I’ll make full use of the money after graduation instead.Text 3M: Do you know Gary? I think he’s in your math class.W: Yes. He sits a few seats away from me. How do you know him?M: I know him through a speech contest, and he’s also on my brother’s basketball team. (3)Text 4W: I can’t wait to see John Potter on TV tonight. It’s his first show since winning the national poetry award.M: I have been fond of his works since I first heard about him.W: Me, too. I can’t wait to hear about his new book. (4)Text 5 M: Mrs. Coyle, is your client guilty?W: Well, we are confident that the people will hear the full story eventually.M: What? You’re not answering the question at all. You’re avoiding it! (5)Text 6W: Did you hear about the community center? It caught fire last night during a cooking class.M: Yes. Everyone was really lucky. My father said they made it out of the building safely. He told me that the fire was probably able to spread so quickly because of the small room that it happened in.W: Well, on the local news, the firefighters said that the biggest issue was with the fire stopping systems. Apparently, because of the age of the building, they no longer work correctly. (6)M: It’s a good thing that a plan for a new community center was already being made before the fire. Hopefully, the city council will be able to ask the government to allow building it soon. (7)Text 7 W: Hello. I am calling because I would like to hire one of your cleaners. (8)M: OK. When were you looking to have your house cleaned?W: I will be having a large party this Saturday night and I will need my house cleaned in the early afternoon on Sunday.M: I’m sorry, but we cannot do that. In order to reserve a cleaner for the weekend, we require you to call up at least a week in advance. We are a small store with only a few employees available. (9)W: That is a shame, but I understand. What is the earliest time you would be able to come on Monday?M: We could send someone out by 8:00 a.m. We are also having a deal on just the floor and window cleaning service if you want 10% off the bill. (10)W: That is exactly what I need. (10) I can clean everything else myself.Text 8 (第11题为推断题) M: Are you going to the careers fair at school tomorrow? It might be useful.W: Yes, I am. I can’t decide what career to follow. I thought about nursing, maybe even becoming a doctor if my grades are good enough. But the thing that appeals to me most is teaching.M: Really? You surprise me. Teachers have to meet lots of targets and deal with difficult children, which I wouldn’t like. The long holidays would be good, though. (12)W: It depends on your character, I suppose. What job would you like to do? (13)M: I would like to do something creative and something that would allow me to travel.W: Perhaps you could be a writer, but I don’t suppose artists travel very much.M: I thought of becoming a photographer. (13) They seem to travel a lot.W: That’s a good idea, but it might be hard to succeed in it. Everyone takes pictures with their phones these days.M: Yeah, but you have to be very good to be a professional. And I think I could manage it.Text 9W: How much do you pay for education in the UK? (14)M: State junior and secondary schools are free, but universities charge fees. (14) Why do you ask?W: I was reading in the news today that a scheme(方案) in China is offering to pay poor children’s school fees. After middle school, students in China have to pay for education.M: It is very good that they are helping poor children. More educated people will help improve the quality of life in villages and promote the economic developments.W: Maybe, although educated people usually leave their villages. (15)M: They should be encouraged to stay.W: They often are. Some clever people set up businesses in their hometowns. If they are located in some beautiful places, they can attract tourists to hotels and restaurants. I wouldn’t like to see people setting up polluting factories, though. (16)M: At least education offers hope to villages. People who travel away can get new ideas for businesses and health care.W: One of the most important things educated people do is bring back ideas for improving agriculture and growing more valuable crops.Text 10I’d like to thank everyone for coming tonight. Our event tonight is for a great cause. All the money you have paid tonight will go to the Wounded Warrior Project. (17) It is an organization that provides health care for members of the military. Many people who are helped by this organization are here with us tonight. They will be happy to have a friendly conversation and tell you all about how they’ve been helped. Our organization was founded after a national disaster many years ago. Its purpose is to assist those who have been injured while being employed with the military. (18) Our goal for tonight is to set at one million dollars. I hope that this year’s event is able to finish with even more money than last year when we gathered our highest amount ever which was 1.6 million dollars. (19) The year before that we were able to expand a lot, thanks to our marketing team reaching out to many new supporters who are still with us today. The Wounded Warrior Project has personally affected me greatly. After receiving aid from the organization six years ago, I was able to get my life back on track. Two years after that, I decided to work for the organization full-time and I am so proud of everything we do here.
