Unit 3 I’m more outgoing than my sister.

一、导入

Have a free talk about people’s personal traits, and make comparisons between them.

二、目标

1. Students learn some new words and phrases, such as quietly, loudly, heavy, better etc.
2. Students can use the sentence pattern “... has longer hair than ..., plays them better than ...” to compare people;  
3. Students read the listening material and role-play;

(1)  I’m more outgoing than my sister.

outgoing /'aʊtցəʊɪŋ/ adj. 爱交际的；友好的；外向的

outgoing 用来描述人的性格，可作表语或定语，其比较级是more outgoing。

e.g. She is an outgoing girl and she likes outdoor activities.

她是个外向的女孩，而且她喜欢户外活动。

outgoing 的反义词是quiet或shy，意思是“安静的；

内向的、腼腆的”.

(2)  Both Sam and Tom can play the drums, but Sam plays them better than Tom.

① both /bəʊθ/ adj. & pron. 两个；两个都

both 作形容词时，放在名词前，名词要用复数。

e.g. You can see different kinds of flowers on both sides of the road.

在路的两边你可以看到不同种类的花。

【针对训练】

In my class, some girls are ______ than some boys.

A. outgoing          B. most outgoing

C. more outgoing      D. the more outgoing

  【点拨】用“ 语法分析法”。由句中的“than”可知，空格处应用形容词的比较级，并且比较级的前面一般不使用定冠词the。

②better /'betə(r)/ adj. & adv. 较好的( 地)；更好的( 地)

better 在此处是副词，是well 的比较级。
