2. Master the language points: be made up, poor, in fact, seriously, etc..

3. Language points:

(1)  When people watch the show, they usually play a role in deciding the winner.

         play a role 发挥作用；有影响

role 的常用搭配：

① play a role in 在……中起作用；在……中扮演角色

  （in 后面接名词、代词或动名词）

② play an important role in

   在……中起重要的作用；在……中扮演重要的角色

③ play the role of 扮演……的角色

         winner /'wɪnə(r)/ n. 获胜者；优胜者

e.g. Djokovic was the winner. He won the tennis match.

德约科维奇是获胜者。他赢得了网球比赛。

(2)  Some think that the lives of the performers are made up.

make up 编造( 故事、谎言等)

e.g. The teacher asked his students to make up a story about a trip to the moon.

老师让他的学生编一个关于到月球旅行的故事。

make up 的被动结构be made up，意为“被编造”。因为主语“the lives of the performers(表演者的生活)”表示物，所以使用被动语态。

(3)  For example, some people say they are poor farmers. but in fact they are just actors.

poor /pɔː(r)/, /pʊə/, /pʊr/ adj. 贫穷的；清贫的

the poor意为“穷人” 。“the+形容词”表示一类人，表示复数意义，作主语时，谓语动词用复数形式。

(4)  However, if you don’t take these shows too seriously, they are fun to watch.

take ... seriously 认真对待……

seriously作副词，意为“严重地；严肃地；认真地”。它的形容词形式是serious。

e.g. We have to start taking sleep seriously.

我们必须开始认真对待睡眠。
