As facts prve, when a mther sits in the passenger seat while a teen learns t drive, the
teen’s brain activity can be changed. Fr the study, researchers came up with a driving
simulatin(模拟) test that encurages risk-taking behavir in teens.
Twenty-five teens were asked t pass the simulatin test in the shrtest pssible time. In the
simulatin, there are 26 intersectins(交叉路口) that teens need t pass thrugh. Each intersectin
prvides a chice t stp at a yellw light, which culd delay the driver fr three secnds, r finish
the simulatin faster by speeding thrugh the yellw light.
If the drivers dn’t crash, they’ll finish earlier; if nt, there is a six-secnd delay t their time
f cmpletin. The study required teens t g thrugh the simulatin n their wn as well as under

The results shw that when teens drive alne, they drive past the yellw light 55 percent f
the time. Hwever, if Mum is present, racing past the yellw light is seen at a decreased rate f 45
percent. In additin, the study fund that driving alne caused changes in the teens’ brains,
