Step 2: Listening 2a&2b
- Listen and number the pictures[1-4].
- Listen again.Match the names with the activities.
- Check the answers.

Step 3. Work on 2c
Talk about the people in 2a with a partner.
—What's Uncle Joe doing?
—He's playing basketball.

Step 4. Work on 2d
Role-play the conversation.
First,let students listen to tape to correct their pronunciation.
Do a fast reading game.Choose two students to read the passage simultaneously.The faster one is the winner.Teacher can add points to him or his team.

Now,Let`s focus on the language points.
(1).How's it going? 近来可好?
本句是询问对方处境或事情进展如何的习惯用语,后面可跟介词短语“with sb./sth.”,可与“How's everything?/How's everything going?”等互换。
eg:How's it going with Mary /Mary's study?玛丽/玛丽的学习情况最近怎么样?
其常见的答语有:
Great!(好极了!)Wonderful.(棒极了。)/
Not bad.(还不错。)/Terrible!(糟透了!)/Pretty good!(相当好!)/Just soso.(马马虎虎。)/
Everything is OK.(一切都好。)/Everything goes well.(一切顺利。)
eg:—Hello! How's it going? /How's everything? 你好!一切都好吗?
—Pretty good./Great!/Terrible! 相当好。/好极了!/糟透了!
(2).Sounds like you're... 听起来好像你……
此句中sound前省略了主语it,sound 在句中为系动词,意为“听起来”。sound后常接形容词
作表语。sound like 后接名词表示“听起来好像……”。
(3).have a good/great/nice/wonderful time (doing sth.)= have fun (doing sth.)= enjoy oneself (doing sth.) (做某事)开心、愉快
eg: We have a good/great/nice time learning English.
=We have fun learning English.
=We enjoy ourselves learning English.我们学英语很开心。
(4).message /'mesɪdʒ/ n.信息;消息
与message 相关的词组
take a message for sb. 为某人捎口信儿
send a text message to sb. 给某人发短信
leave a message 留言
(5).could为情态动词,比can更委婉、客气。
tell/tel/ v. 告诉、吩咐
①tell 后可接双宾语,即tell sb. sth.
eg:Please tell me your favourite food.请告诉我你最喜欢的食物。
②tell sb.about sth.告诉某人关于某事
eg:Please tell me about it.请跟我说说它。
③tell sb.(not)to do sth.告诉某人(不)做某事
eg:Tell him not to open it.告诉他别打开。
(6).no problem常用来表示同意或愉快地回答请求,相当于sure。
“No problem.”的常见用法还有以下几种:用于礼貌地回答某人的感谢(主要用于美式英语中), 意为“不用谢;别客气”。
② 用来回答道歉 (主要用于美式英语中),意为“没关系;没什么”。
③ 用来表示有能力做某事,意为“没问题;不在话下”。
④ 用来表示安慰(也可说That's no problem.),意为“没问题;那不成问题”。
