Ⅱ.阅读理解(4选1) The name sounds funny but the idea is no joke:it’s a personal toilet called the pee-pool. Anders Wilhelmson,a Swedish architect,is the inventor of the pee-pool. He became interested in the idea of sanitation(卫生设施)after taking part in a research project on the social and political development of cities. One of the most common problems he found in developing countries was the lack of toilets. He wanted to do something to help. So working with others,he started the project in 2005,and the next year he started a company called Peepoolple. The toilet is a single-use bag made of environmentally friendly plastic. The inside is treated with urea(尿素),a chemical commonly used as fertilizer. The hotter the weather, the more quickly the waste turns into what is needed by plants. The sanitation process can be a couple of hours or four weeks. You can just bury it in a pot and grow whatever you like. The company expects to start selling the bags in August in Kenya and Bangladesh, but it is just beginning production and sales in Nairobi now. Full production could reach about half a million bags a day and people may buy the pee-pool in countries like Vietnam,Bangladesh, etc. The United Nations says more than two and a half billion people around the world do not have good sanitation. Many have no choice but to use the outdoors, which is not only bad for the environment, but also harmful to people’s health. Each year, poor sanitation leads to three-fifths of those people getting an infectious disease which on average causes one out of 1,000 patients to die. Jack Sim,the founder of the World Toilet Organization, says,“This is quite an unacceptable situation given the fact that we are living in the modern world. And strangely, many of them own televisions and phones but have no toilet.” 1. What can be learned about the pee-pool from the passage? A. It can be used over again. B. Its sanitation process doesn’t last long. C. It works better in summer than in winter. D. It should be buried in a pot after being used. 2. In which place can people buy the pee-pool now? A. Nairobi. B. Vietnam. C. Sweden. D. Bangladesh. 3. What is the main idea of the fifth paragraph? A. To tell us poor sanitation may cause many problems. B. To tell us many people don’t care for the environment. C. To tell us many people get ill from using the outdoors. D. To tell us quite a number of people die from poor sanitation. 4. What does the underlined word“This”in the last paragraph probably refer to? A. The outdoors being damaged. B. Many places being short of toilets. C. Many people having televisions and phones. D. Many people getting an infectious disease.

Ⅰ.阅读理解 (7选5) Regular exercise is a vital part of leading a healthy lifestyle. 1 Signs of over-training include decreased performance, chronic(慢性的)tiredness, and mood swings. Here is some advice on treating exercise-related conditions: *Take a break from exercising for 1 to 2 weeks. If you experience tiredness, mood swings,or other symptoms of over-training,give your body a break. In most cases,1 to 2 weeks is all it’ll take. You can do yoga or stretching during the time off. When you start exercising again, take it slow, and rest a muscle group for at least a day. 2 *See your doctor if resting for 1 to 2 weeks doesn’t help. 3 They can diagnose an injury and recommend a treatment plan for your specific needs. They might also recommend you to see a mental health professional. It might also be helpful to get help from a personal trainer or physiotherapist. They can help you determine if you are over-training and make a healthy exercise plan for you. * 4 For some people, the drugs can help get rid of feelings of anxiety or obsession related to over-training and compulsive(强迫的)exercise. You might need to try different medicines and amounts before you find the best solution. Side effects could include nausea, constipation,a dry mouth, mood changes, and weight gain. Tell your doctor if you experience these or other side effects. * Talk to an advisor about compulsive exercise or an eating disorder. 5 An advisor can help you make this distinction and,if necessary, identify why exercise has become a compulsion. A. Schedule an appointment with your primary doctor. B. However, exercising too much can cause significant health risks. C. When you begin exercising again, stick to 45 minutes or less per day. D. Ask your doctor if they need to recommend a drug to treat depression. E. It might be tough to distinguish between devotion to a sport and compulsive exercise. F. If you think you might be overdoing it,stop exercising for 1 to 2 weeks. G. For instance,if you work out using a bicycle on Monday, exercise your upper body the following day.

Ⅱ. Ever since he was a kid,Colin had taken great interest in hiking(远足). To celebrate his 40th birthday,he planned to climb Mountain Sunshine. The night before his journey,Colin filled his backpack with hiking poles,a homemade hamburger, and some other necessities. He drove off at 7 am the next day,his mountain bike in the trunk(后备箱). When he was already on the way,he suddenly realized there was a possibility of bear attack. About an hour later,he arrived at a camp and checked in.“Is there anything you need?”Vito, the camp manager, asked him. “Bear spray(驱熊喷雾),”said Colin. After finding a bottle,Vito offered him a ride. They trucked along a road until the forest got too thick. As Colin put his mountain bike against a bush so that he could recover it on the way back,Vito said,“I’ll come for you if you’re not back when the night falls.”“Nothing to worry about,”Colin replied in a confident voice. With the bear spray in one pocket,Colin started hiking. He marked his trail(足迹,踪迹)and made lots of noise to drive away curious animals. Before he knew it,it was getting dark. Not wanting to get caught in the dark, and satisfied with what he’d finished that day,he started to climb down the mountain, and soon recovered his bike. As he passed a marker showing 3 kilometres away from the camp,he suddenly stopped his bike—a bear stood in the middle of the narrow road, some hundred metres away. Knowing it could easily attack him if he sped up,Colin decided not to anger the bear. The animal came in his direction, closer and closer.
At that very moment,a truck stopped right in front of him.

3. end up in jobs 4. cut back on health care
5. have/take/hold a positive attitude towards/to
6. take part in class discussion 7. As a result 8. It is predicted that

根据第三段第三句“The hotter the weather, the more quickly the waste turns into what is needed by plants.”
根据第四段第一句“...but it is just beginning production and sales in Nairobi now.” 故选A项。
通过阅读文章第五段的内容“The United Nations says more than two and a half billion people around the world do not have good sanitation. Many have no choice but to use the outdoors, which is not only bad for the environment, but also harmful to people’s health. Each year, poor sanitation leads to three-fifths of those people getting an infectious disease which on average causes one out of 1,000 patients to die.” 故选A项。
结合前后文语境可知,Jack Sim的话应是对前文提到的事实“The United Nations says more than two and a half billion people around the world do not have good sanitation.”
前文的See your doctor与A选项“Schedule an appointment with your primary doctor.” 故选A。
E选项中的distinguish与下文中的make this distinction呼应。故选E。
One possible version:
Hands shaking,Colin grabbed the hamburger out of his backpack...(独立主格结构)
With the distance getting so close,Colin took out the spray quickly and fired it at the bear.(with复合结构)
After what seemed ages,it gave up,turned around, and disappeared into the woods.(what引导的宾语从句)
One possible version:
The animal came in his direction, closer and closer. Hands shaking,Colin grabbed the hamburger out of his backpack, and threw it beside the bear, hoping it would attract the animal. However, the bear just took one smell, and then turned back, walking on. With the distance getting so close,Colin took out the spray quickly and fired it at the bear. To his relief,it fell back, shaking its head. Seeing this,Colin rode towards the camp as quickly as he could. Sadly,a moment later he heard the bear roaring and running after him.
At that very moment,a truck stopped right in front of him.“Get in!”someone shouted. It was Vito! Without any hesitation,Colin jumped off his bike and got into the truck, shutting the door just before the bear caught him. So angry was the bear that it kept roaring and pushing the truck violently. After what seemed ages,it gave up,turned around, and disappeared into the woods. With his heart still in his throat,Colin hugged his life-saver and thanked him again and again. Perhaps,he would never forget the life-risking experience for the rest of his life.
