(2022·江西赣州·一模)It is reported that 47 percent of the world’s energy is used for indoor heating, and 42 percent of that energy is wasted on heating space and objects instead of people, a study notes. Solving the energy problem, a main cause of global warming, would require people to use less energy for indoor heating.
What if you could warm up with high-tech and removable patches(可移动的补丁)in your clothes while saving money and causing fewer carbon footprints? Engineers at Rutgers University and Oregon State University have found a way to make thin and lasting beating patches(补丁). Their heating performance is nearly 70 percent higher than similar patches created by other researchers. They are inexpensive and are able to produce heat where the human body needs it since they can be sewed (缝) as patches.
“This is important in the built environment, where we waste lots of energy by heating buildings instead of heating the human body as needed,” said Rajiv Malhotra, a professor at Rutgers University. Personal heat management(管理), which pays attention to heating the human body as needed, is a good way. Such patches may also someday help warm anyone who works or plays outdoors. Compared with other patches, the newly created patches produce more heat per patch area and can be used longer.
Next steps include seeing if this way can be used to create other smart clothes. The engineers also want to know how many patches would be needed and where they should be placed on people to keep them comfortable while using less indoor energy.
41.What is the purpose of the first paragraph?
A.To introduce a new product.
B.To describe the results of a study.
C.To show the writer’s writing purpose.
D.To show some background information.
42.What does the underlined word “They” refer to?
A.The smart clothes.
B.The modern materials.
C.The thin and lasting heating patches.
D.The engineers at Rutgers University and Oregon State University.
43.What will be further studied about the patches?
A.Some steps to use less outdoor energy.
B.How to make human bodies comfortable.
C.The way to lower the costs of producing the patches.
D.How to use the fewest patches to make a piece of clothing.
44.What’s the best title for the text?
A.You need new energy clothes.
B.Winter is no longer cold from now on.
C.Use high-tech heating patches in your clothes.
D.Make energy-saving clothes from useless materials.
(2022·江西赣州·一模)Washing clothes is easy for most people living in cities, as washing machines do the job. However, in many rural(农村) areas or poor regions, people have to wash their clothes by hand, as they don’t have electricity or money to buy the machines. Now, a new bamboo washing machine might help them solve this problem.
The machine is a simpler version(版本) of a traditional washing machine. However, it uses the natural flow of water instead of electricity. It has a wooden rotation shaft(转) in the center and a bamboo drum(桶) outside. You just put the machine in a river and water will go into the bottom of the machine and rotate the main drum. This creates an eddy(涡流) that cleans clothes.
A 7-member team from the School of Design at Dalian Minzu University created the machine. Their design won the “Best of the Best” prize at the 2020 Red Dot Awards(红点奖). “There are 836 million people living in extreme poverty(极端贫困) in the world. They have to spend lots of time and energy doing little things like washing clothes. We want the bamboo washing machine to help them free up their time so they can do more meaningful things, like fighting poverty,” said Pan Cheng, one of the designers.
“The best thing about this machine is that it’s cheap and easy to make,” said Yu Yue, another designer. “We give people the rotation shaft and teach them how to set up the machine. They can find bamboo locally and make it into drums. If there is no bamboo, they can also use materials like wood.”
The designers said they spent more than half a year working on the machine. They had countless team meetings and changed their design at least four times. But in the end they were happy with the results.
45.The bamboo washing machine was created for people who ________.
A.live in big cities B.want to save power
C.live in the wild D.live in poor regions
46.How does the bamboo washing machine work?
① Put the machine into a river. ② Eddy in the machine cleans clothes.
③Water goes into the bottom of the machine. ④ Water in the drum drives the wooden rotation shaft.
A.①②③④ B.①③④② C.③①②④ D.③④①②
47.Why did Pan Cheng come up with the idea?
A.Bamboo washing machines are eco-friendly.
B.He grew up in a rural area without much electricity.
C.He thinks washing clothes is not important.
D.He wanted to help people in poor areas fight poverty.

When you think of a roller coaster(过山车), what comes to mind? Is it a modern metal machine that allows young people to go very fast on a track(小道)? If so, you’re like most people. But what came before these quick and huge roller coasters? Let’s jump into the history of this exciting ride.
The Russians were the first to build “roller coasters”. In the 1600s, they built tall wooden ramps(斜坡)and covered them with water in winter, which soon turned to ice. To ride them, people would climb up a 21-meter ladder(梯子). After being pushed, the rider would enjoy speeding down a 183-meter-long ramp. Big cities and small towns enjoyed it very much.
The French took the idea back to France in the early 1800s and named it “the Russian mountain”. Because it is warm in France, the French started to use wax(蜡)instead of ice. Later, they began adding wheels to the sleds for all of the seasons.
The idea of riding roller coasters didn’t make it across the Atlantic Ocean until the early 19th century. The Mauch Chunk Switchback railway was the first coaster in the US. In the beginning, it was built to carry coal. The railway went through a 14-kilometer-long downhill track in the mountains of Pennsylvania.
The golden age of roller coasters lasted the whole 1920s. During this time, designers were making roller coasters taller, longer, and faster than ever before. The Great Depression(大萧条)of the 1930s and World Way Ⅱ put an end to popularity of roller coaster.
In 1955, Walt Disney brought back the popularity of roller coasters by building a new amusement park in California, US; Disneyland. A now type of roller coaster, the Matterhorn, opened in Disneyland in 1959. It was built with steel. Using steel allowed the roller coaster to go in many more directions than the wooden ramps did in the past. This idea changed the roller coaster industry into what it is today.

(2022·江西萍乡·模拟预测)Health problems which are connected to climate(气候) change are getting worse, say two recent reports.
The reports followed 44 health problems that are connected to climate change around the word. They include heat deaths, infectious diseases(传染病) and hunger. “All of them are getting worse,” said Marina Romanello. She is a research director of the Lancet Countdown project. “With global warming getting worse, doing nothing on climate and health will cost more than acting now,” one of the report says.
The reports are called “code red for a healthy future”. One report is centered on the US and the other is centered on the whole world. The reports found some dangerous facts. At-risk populations like older people and the very young are more easily infuenced by high temperatures. For people over 65, the researchers found they stayed longer in great heat than the average(平均的) from 1986 to 2005. Also, there are more people living in warm places where it is easier for some diseases to spread. For example, coast areas are warm enough for dangerous bacteria(细菌) to grow. In some poor nations, the season for disease-spreading mosquitoes(蚊子) has got longer since the 1950s.

(2022·河北石家庄·二模)Waste sorting (垃圾分类) is a big matter worldwide. In order to sort the rubbish properly and protect the environment, people in different countries are using different methods to sort their waste. Here are some examples how to sort the rubbish in different countries.
UK A UK company invented a “smart bin” to help with waste sorting. People just need to drop their waste into the bin (垃圾箱) . A camera and sensors (感应器) in the bin can tell what type of rubbish it is and correctly sort it. The bin also compresses (压缩) the waste so it takes up less space.
South Korea South Korea is using a method called “Pay For Your Waste” to encourage its people to reduce food waste. When throwing away rubbish, people have to separate their food waste from their other rubbish and put it in a bin. The smart bin then weighs the food. People have to pay for their food waste by scanning (扫描) a barcode (条形码) on the bin. If they throw away more rubbish, they will pay more.
Japan Japan is leading the world in waste sorting. They sort waste so carefully that even plastic bottles and their caps go into different bins. Different types of paper products have their own bins.
China China is improving its waste sorting efforts. Shanghai has worked with Alipay to create a “green account (账户) ” service for its residents (居民) . The city is asking all of its residents to their waste into four groups: wet, recyclable, harmful and dry.

(2022·河北石家庄·二模)Cars, undoubtedly, are one of the most important transportation tools today. They have had a huge influence on our daily lives. In my opinion, when it comes to the future of the automobile industry, there are three challenges: accidents, traffic jams and pollution.
The first two challenges can be solved by artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things. These two technologies will make self-driving cars a reality. Cars will drive themselves to their destinations automatically. Thanks to the IT, cars, traffic lights and even pedestrians will be connected with each other. Traffic information will be transmitted in real time. For example, if there is roadwork ahead, the AI system will tell the car to change its planned route. This way, traffic jams can be avoided. There will also be fewer accidents caused by careless drivers.
The last challenge, pollution, can be solved by exploring new sources of energy. Electric cars are much cleaner than petrol cars. In recent years, electric cars have already become more and more popular. Many people have been driving electric cars. However, new problems, such as pollution caused by old batteries, have been arising. How can we solve these problems? It’s high time we thought about that.
There is still a long way for us to go. I believe that with our combined efforts, newer and more reliable technologies will appear. They will help create a brighter future for road transportation.
