Ancient Chinese Astrnmers believed that the Purple Star (Plaris北极星) was in the center f heaven and the Heavenly Emperr lived in the Purple Palace. The Palace fr the emperr n earth was s called the Purple City. It was frbidden t enter withut special permissin f the emperr. Hence it’s named ‘The Purple Frbidden City’, usually ‘The Frbidden City’.
