(2020·广东金山中学高三月考) I suspect that we scialize mre during the spring and summer mnths. Under the warm sun, yards blm with cld drinks and cnversatin, barbecues get fired up, and parties quickly spill utside. Shifting these sweet summer parties t nes that arc als waste-free can be bth simple and inexpensive, with just a few small changes t yur habits.
The first step is t keep invitatins virtual. Creating a Facebk event r sending a simple email is perfect fr inviting guests t yur party withut generating waste frm paper invitatins, and if yu're lking fr smething a bit mre frmal, sites such as Greenvelpe and Paperless Pst have given the cheesy e-vite a brilliant makever. Virtual invites als allw yu t track RSVPs, cmmunicate with guests, and prvide clickable inf abut yur event.
T decrate, make use f the candles, flwers and greenery already in yur utdr space rather than stcking upn stre-bught flwers, and cnsider using decratins that can be reused (like a clth happy birthday banner, fr example) rather than ne-time use decratins. Skip the ballns in favur f large tissue paper pm-pms, and ffer up any decratins still in decent cnditin t a free grup after the event rather than just tssing them ut.
The mst bvius way t cut dwn n party waste, f curse, is by getting rid f dispsable plates, cups and cutlery. I shuldn't have t d much cnvincing in this department – des anyne actually enjy using thse paper plates that fld in half when yu pile them high with t much greek salad r drip il thrugh the bttm? Has anyne in the histry f the wrld ever actually successfully cut anything with ne f thse cmpletely useless plastic knives? There really isn't much t be gained frm using dispsables.
With these shifts and a few ther small adjustments here and there – paper straws instead f plastic, a large drink dispenser rather than individual sft drinks r juice bxes – yu'll be set t celebrate all summer lng, withut suffering the accmpanying garbage hangver the next day.
1.Which is the best title fr the passage?
A.Hw t hld a successful garden party.B.Summer garden party habits.
C.Hw t hld greener summer parties.D.Hw t entertain yur guests.
2.What des the underlined wrd “cheesy” in the secnd paragraph mean?
    A.free.B.frmal.C.plain.D.inviting.
3.What shuld we d with used decratins in gd cnditin?
    A.Dnate them.B.Sell them.
    C.Put them away.D.Thrw them away.
4.Why dcs the writer dislike paper plates?
    A.They're t expensive.B.They're nt practical.
    C.They're nt cnvincing.D.They're nt ppular.

(2020·河南南阳中学高三月考) Machines might ne day replace human labrers in a number f prfessins, but surely they wn’t ever replace human artists. Right?
Think again. Nt even ur artists will be safe frm the inevitable machine takever, if a new develpment in artificial intelligence(AI) by a team f researchers frm Rutgers University and Facebk’s AI lab ffers a clue f what’s t cme. They have designed an AI capable f nt nly prducing art, but actually inventing whle new aesthetic(美学的) styles similar t mvements like impressinism r abstract expressinism. The idea, accrding t researcher Marian Mazzne, was t make art that is “nvel, but nt t nvel”.
The mdel used in this prject invlves a generatr netwrk, which prduces the images, and a discriminatr netwrk, which “judges” whether it’s art. Once the generatr learns hw t prduce wrk that the distributr recgnizes as art, it’s given an additinal instructin: t prduce art that desn’t match any knwn aesthetic styles.
“Yu want t have smething really creative and striking — but at the same time nt t g t far and make smething that isn’t aesthetically pleasing,” explained Ahmed Elgammal.
The art that was generated by the system was then presented t human judges alngside human-prduced art withut shwing which was which. T the researchers’ surprise, the machine-made art scred slightly higher verall than the human-prduced art.
Of curse, machines can’t yet replace the meaning cnveyed in wrks by human artists, but this prject shws that artist skill sets certainly seem reprducible by machines.
What will it take fr machines t prduce cntent with meaning? That might be the last AI frntier. Human artists can at least hang their hats in that field fr nw.
“Imagine having peple ver fr a dinner party and they ask, ‘Wh is that by?’ And yu say, ‘Well, it’s a machine actually.’ That wuld be an interesting cnversatin starter,” said Kevin Walker.
12.What is implied in the secnd paragraph?
A.Artists wn’t be replaced by AI.B.AI can prduce new styles f art.
C.AI is ttally at a lss abut impressinism.D.AI fails t reflect abstract expressinism.
13.What did Marian find in his study?
A.AI can please human judges with its art.B.AI can cmbine cntent with meaning.
C.AI can make art aesthetically unpleasant.D.AI can create high quality arts.
14.What des the underlined phrase “hang their hats” mean?
    A.Discver.B.Hld.C.Struggle.D.Appear.
15.What Kevin said in the last paragraph tells us that .
A.she uses machines t ck fr a partyB.she likes t jin in a dinner party
C.she expects the arrival f AID.she cares abut the starter f a chat

The space dreamers end up benefiting all f us—-nt just because f the way they expand human knwledge, r because f the spin-ff 33 they prduce, but because the tw types f dreams feed ff each ther. The Vice in the Bx
When I was quite yung, my family had ne f the first telephnes in ur neighbrhd. I remember well the plished the wden case fastened t the wall n the lwer stair landing. But my first persnal experience with this genie-in-the-receiver came ne day while my mther was visiting a neighbr. Amusing myself at the tl bench, I hurt my finger with a hammer. The pain was terrible, but there didn’t seem t be much use crying, because there was n ne hme t ffer sympathy. I walked arund the huse, and finally arriving at the stairway. The telephne! Quickly I ran fr the ftstl and dragged it t the landing. Climbing up, I unhked the receiver and held it t my ear. “Infrmatin Please,” I said int the muthpiece just abve my head.
A click r tw, and a small, clear vice spke int my ear, “Infrmatin.”
“I hurt my finger…” I cried int the phne. The tears came readily enugh, nw that I had an audience.
“Isn’t yur mther hme?” came the questin.
“Nbdy’s hme but me.” I sbbed.

After that, I called Infrmatin Please fr everything. I asked her fr help with my gegraphy and she tld me where Philadelphia was, and the Orinc, the rmantic river that I was ging t explre when I grew up. She helped me with my arithmetic, and she tld me that my pet chipmunk----I had caught him in the park just the day befre----wuld eat fruit and nuts.
