    In the event, if we are nt able t ffer in-persn, n-campus curses due t COVID-19 restrictins, as many curses as pssible will be cnverted (改变) t nline fferings and yu’ll have the fllwing ptins:
    1. If yur n-campus curse is cnverted t an nline curse, yu may autmatically register fr it at a reduced charge that reflects nly academic (per credit), nt residential fees.

    What’s yur favrite insect? It’s an dd questin that many peple may nt be able t answer. But UA Hnrs Cllege student Matt Velazquez certainly can. Ants have always fascinated him. He lves studying their behavir almst as much as he lves filmmaking.
    Velazquez has already cmpleted ne dcumentary film, “Lazy Ants”, which dcuments research n inactivity in ants. The film recently achieved first place at The Scientific Research Sciety cmpetitin.
    Then Velazquez nticed that a clny (群) f ants called trap-jaw ants ccasinally make mysterius buzzing sunds, which he set ut t explre.
    “It’s very rare in the animal kingdm fr rganisms t help ther rganisms, especially in insects,” Velazquez explained. “I wanted t find ut the rle f sund cmmunicatin in a clny f trap-jaw ants. Wuld these ants help ther wrkers trapped in the dirt using sund signals? Wuld an ant frm Clny A rescue an ant frm Clny B, r wuld it nly help ants frm its wn clny?”
    Velazquez started by cllecting a sample f the ants and analyzing sund bites t see hw ften the buzzing ccurred.
    He then clr-cded ants frm different clnies and buried the wrkers in different layers f dirt. The gal was t see hw far dwn the nise wuld travel, and if the ants wuld understand the sund frm different clnies.
    It turns ut, Velazquez has discvered that these ants cmmunicate at a frequency in the ultrasnic (超声波的) range, which is similar t bats. He is currently in the prcess f building a micrphne sensitive enugh t pick up these tiny insect calls and als be able t pick up the ultrasnic frequencies.
