Listening and speaking: On a removal day
设计说明 让学生小组讨论他们想要什么样的公寓,记下每个小组成员的主要信息,在课堂上作简短汇报。本课重点学习方位介词(短语)的用法,要透彻讲解方位介词(短语)的不同意义。结合图片,呈现生词,扫除学习障碍。通过听录音、跟读、角色扮演等活动,激发学生学习英语的热情。设置有关各家具摆放位置的问题,让学生学会正确使用方位介词(短语)。接下来,讲解主要知识点,让学生扎实掌握英语知识。最后,通过练习题目检测学生的掌握情况。 教学目标 通过本课节的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 学习本课节新词汇:helper, sofa, next to, set, opposite, rug, cupboard, armchair; 掌握方位介词(短语)的用法。 2.能力目标 能够听懂有关物品摆放的对话;能用方位介词(短语)描述物品的位置。 3.情感目标 通过一系列小组活动,培养学生的合作精神和观察能力;让学生养成整齐摆放自己物品的良好生活习惯。 重点难点 重点:掌握本课节新词汇helper, sofa, next to, set, opposite, rug, cupboard, armchair;掌握方位介词(短语)的用法。 难点:能够听懂有关物品摆放的对话;能用方位介词(短语)描述物品的位置。 教学准备 PPT课件;活动Listen and say的录音;有关长沙发、地毯、食物柜、扶手椅、电视机和搬运助手的图片 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1 Warming up 1. Let the students work in groups and discuss what kind of flat they would like. 2. Tell them that they can draw a plan of it. 3. Ask them to write down the key information that their classmates say. e.g. S1: a big balcony, big bathrooms, a big living room S2: in the suburbs, clean environment, no air pollution S3: big bedrooms, quiet S4: near school, a big kitchen 4. Let them write their ideal flat.
5. Ask some groups to share their writing.
Step 2 Presentation 1. Teach the students how to use prepositions to indicate places. 续表 2. Present the new words: helper, sofa, rug, set, cupboard, armchair.

cupboard n. 食物柜 armchair n. 扶手椅 set n. 电视机 helper n. 助手
Step 3 Listen and say The Lis have moved to their new flat in Water Bay. David, the removal man, and his helpers are putting the things in the new flat. 1. Listen to the dialogue between Mrs Li and David. 2. Play the recording sentence by sentence so the students listen and repeat with their books closed. 3. Ask them to practice in pairs. 4. Let some pairs role-play the dialogue.
Step 4 Read and answer 1. Ask the students to read the following questions first. Where does Mrs Li want the round table/the sofa/the TV set/the rug/the small table/the cupboard/the armchair? 2. They can read the dialogue again to find the answers. 3. Let them discuss their answers. 4. Check the answers together. Answers: Mrs Li wants to put the round table near her bedroom. She wants to put the sofa near the big window. She wants to put the TV set opposite the sofa. She wants to put the rug on the floor between the TV set and the sofa. She wants to put the small table on the rug. She wants to put the cupboard near the kitchen. She wants to put the armchair near Kitty’s room. 5. Let them look at the picture and discuss it in pairs if everything is in the right place. They can discuss it like this: S1: Where did the removal men put the _______? S2: They put it near... next to... on... in front of... opposite... between...and... S1: Is that right or wrong? S2: That’s right/wrong.
Step 5 Language points 1. David, the removal man, and his helpers are putting the things in the new flat.搬运工大卫和他的助手正在把家具搬进新公寓。 helper〔名词〕帮手;助手 We need helpers for the meeting.我们需要会议的助手。 【拓展】help〔动词&名词〕帮助 Can you help me?你能帮助我吗? Thank you for all your help.谢谢你所有的帮助。 2. Then put the plant next to it.然后把这棵植物放在它旁边。 (1)祈使句 用于表达命令、请求、劝告、警告、禁止等的句子。句首动词用原形。 Drink some water.喝些水。 Go to the meeting room now.现在就去会议室。 (2)next to在……旁边 I put my cup next to hers.我把杯子放到了她的杯子旁边。 3. Put it opposite the sofa, please. 请把它放在长沙发对面。 opposite ①〔介词〕与……相对;在……对面 与across from同义。 They sit opposite each other. 他们彼此相对而坐。 ②〔形容词〕相反的,对立的 They have opposite views on the question.在这个问题上他们持相反的观点。
