设计说明

与学生一起列出大多数小区中都有的场所，熟悉周边的环境。另外让他们问答与自己生活的地方有关的问题，做汇报，由此导入新课。结合课本上的地图，让他们通过看地图回答有关问题，锻炼他们读图提炼并转化信息的能力。呈现生词。学习对话，设置听录音、读对话、分角色朗读以及回答问题等活动，由浅入深，层层递进。讲解重要的知识点，让学生扎实掌握重要语言点。最后结合对应的练习，检验学生的掌握情况。

通过本课节的教学，让学生达成以下目标：

Step 1 Warming up

1. Let the students think of the places that they can find in most neighborhoods.

2. Compile a list of the places, such as shops, restaurants, and banks.

3. Ask individual students about their neighbourhood:

(1) Are there any restaurants in your neighbourhood?

(2) Is there a bank?

4. Let the students work in groups. Ask and answer questions:

(1) Where do you live?

(2) Is that in the city centre or in the suburbs?

(3) How do you get to school?

(4) How long does it take?

5. Allow some students to report like this:

  Li Ming lives on Renmin Road. It’s in the city centre. He gets to school on foot. It takes him about 10 minutes. Wei Yang…

Step 2 Look and answer

1. Give the students time to study the map.

2. Ask the following questions:

(1) Where was the Lis’ old flat? Was it in the city centre or the suburbs?

(2) Where is their new flat? Is it in the city centre or the suburbs?

3. Check the answers together.

Answers:

(1) It’s in the south of the map. In the city centre.

(2) It’s in the north of the map. In the suburbs.

Step 3 Presentation

Present some new words with the help of the pictures: peaceful, convenient, neighbourhood.

convenient adj.方便的

peaceful adj.平静的

neighbourhood n.街区；城区

Step 4 Listen and read

1. Play the recording. Let the students listen to it.

2. Pause at proper time for them to follow in their books.

3. Let the students practice the dialogue in pairs. Select some pairs to read the dialogue.

Step 5 Read and answer

1. Let the students read the following questions first and write their answers. They can read the dialogue again if necessary.

(1) Where does Kitty live now?

(2) How does Kitty get to school?

(3) Kitty gets to school at 7.30 a.m. When does she leave home?

(4) Where does Mrs Li go shopping?

(5) How often does she go shopping?

2. Check the answers together.

Answers:

(1) She lives in Water Bay.

(2) She takes a bus. Then she takes the underground.

(3) She leaves home at 6.50 a.m.

(4) She goes to the supermarket in Sunshine Shopping Centre.

(5) She goes shopping once a week.

Step 6 Language points

1. It’s quiet and peaceful. 那里安静而祥和。

（1）quiet〔形容词〕安静的

常用短语keep quiet“保持安静”。

The room is small but very quiet. 这个房间很小但是很安静。

Keep quiet please. This is a library.请保持安静。这是图书馆。

（2）peaceful〔形容词〕平静的

This is a peaceful park.这是一个宁静的公园。

【拓展】①peacefully〔副词〕和平地

The two countries can solve the problems peacefully.这两个国家能够和平解决这些问题。

②peace〔名词〕和平

It’s a danger to the world peace.这对世界和平是一个威胁。

2. I take a bus to Sunshine Shopping Centre. 我乘公共汽车到阳光购物中心。

take+a/the+交通工具名词+to… 乘……去……

与“go to…by+交通工具名词”同义。

You can take a bus there.你可以乘公共汽车去那儿。

= You can go there by bus.

3. Is it convenient to go shopping in your new neighbourhood?你们新街区购物方便吗？

（1）It is+形容词+to do sth. 做某事是……的。

it是形式主语，而真正的主语是动词不定式。

It is easy to answer the question.回答这个问题很简单。

（2）convenient〔形容词〕方便的

It is convenient to travel in the city. 在城市里出行是便捷的。

When would it be convenient for you to go?你什么时候方便去？

【拓展】convenience〔名词〕方便

Thank you for giving us much convenience.

感谢你们给了我们许多方便。

（3）go shopping 去购物

同义短语：do some shopping

Can you go shopping with me?你能和我去购物吗？
