While tea may have originated in Asia, now there are many countries all around the world that have tea woven into their food culture and traditions. This is one of the very special parts of tea as it has a way of connecting people all over the world in different ways and ceremonies that finally all results in a group of people sitting together and enjoying a cup of tea.
Chinese tea culture
Since China is viewed as the birthplace of tea, it is no wonder that Chinese tea culture is rich with history and traditions. Today, Chinese tea continues to be used in Chinese medicine and is commonly consumed on both casual and formal occasions both for personal enjoyment and to represent Chinese cultural traditions.
Japanese tea culture
Japan also has a long history with tea, especially Japanese Matcha, which is a kind of ground green tea that is commonly used in Japanese tea ceremonies and only in recent years became popular in western culture.
British tea culture
When many people think about tea, British tea culture is what comes to mind. A hot cup of English Breakfast or Earl Grey tea serves with a little milk and a biscuit in the afternoon as a pick-me-up for the day. Even though tea may not be native to England, this British tea tradition is still going strong today.
Moroccan tea culture
When you visit Morocco, it is hard to miss the outstanding tea culture that is such a large part of Moroccan hospitality. Before any gathering, negotiation, or sale of a product, a pot of mint tea is always prepared and served among the host and guests. This is an expression of Moroccan tradition and hospitality, which should always be accepted by guests as a sign of appreciation and respect to the host.

B篇
Have you ever been on social media and seen your favorite celebrity(名人)talking about a product? These promotions are actually a vital part of the marketing process. The question is: How do social media influencers influence what you buy?
Human desire for social positions and making friends, combined with our need to belong to a group, makes us willing to be “socially influenced”. Companies often use that desire to have a similar lifestyle to a celebrity they admire to launch or sell a product. So, what do these promotions actually do?
Firstly, they can be used to build brand awareness. A social media influencer should have a strong understanding of the platform(平台)they operate on, and therefore can create attractive content that not only sticks to the brand image, but develops their followers' interests in a product they might never have seen before.
Secondly, influencers can improve a company or product's relationship with their customer base. According to In Moment's 2018 US Retail CX Trends Report, 77% of buyers have been faithful to a brand for more than ten years. This is also true of 60% of young people. A popular celebrity can target key groups of people and talk or blog about a product, which can create an immediate and lasting bond with the consumers.
Lastly, influencers can improve customers buying habits with seemingly“unbiased opinions". We are more likely to respond to“peer(同辈) recommendation”than traditional ads, meaning the fact we see an influencer as a “friend” who can make us less likely to doubt about what we are seeing.
So, the next time you see a celebrity talking about a product, you might want to consider that this could be a carefully designed marketing strategy which targets your needs. If you find yourself thinking about a product you've seen on social media, you may have been well influenced.
( )4. Why do companies invite celebrities to promote products?

B.Because celebrities want to make more money.
C. Because consumers like to share similarities with celebrities.

A. Original.
B.Objective.
C.Effective.
D. Supportive.
( )7. The text is mainly about friends.
A. how social media makes ads
B.how social media influences our lifestyle
C. how celebrities earn reputations
D. how social influencers affect our buying habits
C篇
The tradition of giving gifts didn't start with the modern holidays we celebrate. Many ancient cultures celebrated holidays with the exchange of gifts. People who love to give gifts often can't wait until it’s time for the recipients to open their gifts. If you've ever been given a gift, you know that part of the fun is the curiosity as you wonder what the gift is.
The wish to hide the identity of a gift until just the right moment led people to wrap gifts long, long ago. Historians believed wrapping gifts in paper probably started not long after paper was invented thousands of years ago.
Wrapping paper like what we use today, though, is a much more recent invention. More than l00 years ago, gifts were usually wrapped in heavy brown paper. Before that, cloth was often used. The technology to mass-produce wrapping paper didn't come along until the early 1900s. The first American gift wrap company- Hy-Sill Manufacturing Inc.-was founded by Eli Hyman and Morris Silverman in 1903. It wasn't as easy to wrap presents back then as it is today, though, because adhesive tape(胶带) wasn’t invented until 1930.
Over the years, wrapping paper has developed into what we see in stores each holiday season. But scientists say that the United States alone produces an extra 5 million tons of waste over the holidays, most of which is from wrapping paper and shopping bags. To cut down on this waste, some people carefully unwrap presents, so that the wrapping paper can be reused. Others have started to use reusable gift bags instead of wrapping paper.
( )8. What is the interesting part of people giving a gift?
A. Hiding their gifts and their feelings.
B. Giving the recipients a surprise.
C. Letting the recipients open gifts at once.
D. Following a century-old tradition.
( )9. What can we learn from Paragraph 3?
A. People didn't know wrapping paper until 1903.
B. Heavy brown paper has been used to wrap gifts for 100 years.
C. Technology made wrapping paper widely available.
D. Adhesive tape was first created by gift wrap companies.
( )l0. What do scientists worry about?
A. The future of reusable gift bags.
B. The waste produced by Americans.
C. Wrapping paper's influence on the environment.
D. People's admiration for wrapping paper.
( )ll. What does the text mainly tell us?
A. The popularity of wrapping gifts.
B. The start of wrapping gifts in paper.
C. The problems caused by wrapping paper.
D. The story behind wrapping paper.

She measured temperatures and researched the construction of the simple refrigeration methods on hundreds of train cars. Mum and Her Bank Account
My family had the tradition to sit down by the kitchen table every Saturday night to count out
the money Dad had brought home.
“These are for the rent, and these for the groceries," Mum counted out and divided the big
silver pieces.
“I'll need a notebook," That would be my sister Christine, my brother Nels or me.
After Mum put one or two coins to the side for the notebook, she said that was all we needed
to buy for the week and we all relaxed a little. We didn't have to go downtown and draw money out of Mum's bank account, which could always give us such a warm and secure feeling for having enough to afford the life.
When Nels graduated from grammar school, he needed some money for high school. We sat by the table and I offered my “Little Bank" which was used for sudden emergencies such as the time when Christine broke her arm and had to see a doctor. I laid the box carefully in front of Mum. After counting out the money in the little bank and finding there was not enough, we all agreed not to go to the bank but to find some ways.
Nels volunteered to work in Dillon's grocery after school and Dad said he would give up
smoking. Now there was enough money. We felt relieved.
So many things came out of the little bank that year: Christine's dress for the school play,
Nels' operation... Whatever happened, we always knew we still had the bank to depend on. We
never used her bank account.
That was twenty years ago.
Last year, I sold my first story. When the money came I thought of Mum's bank account.
