设计说明 通过让学生们看几幅DIY作品的图片并回答“What’s this?”来导入新课,然后学习一些表示工具的词汇,学会用一些单词和短语来描述如何制作某些物品,由此展开对话。然后通过Hobo和Eddie的对话,引出本单元所涉及的话题,让学生对本单元产生兴趣。最后通过练习来复习本课时的内容。 教学目标 通过本单元的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 掌握词汇:instruction, tool, brush,glue, rope, scissors, tape, DIY ,exactly, repair, decorate, rose, had better, stand for, instead of 句型:1. You’d better get some tools. 2.Shall we start? 3. — What’s DIY exactly? — It stands for“do-it-yourself”. 2.能力目标 (1)通过听说训练,学会描述DIY作品的制作过程及感受。 (2)通过听说训练,激起学生对本单元的兴趣,提高学生的听说能力。 3.情感目标 了解DIY的方法和所用的工具材料,进行有效的交流,并动手制作,培养动手操作的能力和互帮互助、热爱劳动的优良品质。 重点难点 重点:表示工具和描述DIY步骤的词和短语 难点:生词短语和重点句型的应用 教学准备 PPT课件;相关图片 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1 Lead-in Show some pictures of paper roses and ask a question “What are they?” Then ask them another question “What do we need to make them?” Show them some more pictures of tools. Teach them the new words. Step 2 Presentation 1. Show them some pictures and present some new words. instruction, tool, glue, rope, scissors, tape 2. Ask them to guess the tools according to the description. We use it to paint (粉刷) the walls. (brush ) We can’t cut paper easily without it. (scissors) We can use it to stick (粘) paper. It’s often in the bottle. (glue) We always use it to stick paper on the wall. (tape) Step 3 Practice About DIY Let the students look at the picture and the words in the box of Part A on page 43. Ask the students to match the words in the box with the tools. Answers: Step 4 Presentation 1. Millie and Suzy are talking about DIY. Listen to their conversation and answer the questions. (1) What’s DIY? (2) What is Suzy going to do? (3) What does Suzy need for her DIY? Answers: (1) It stands for “do-it-yourself ”. (2) She’s going to make some paper roses. (3) She needs some paper, glue and a pair of scissors. 2. Listen, read and complete the table.

3. Get the students to look at the pictures and take out some necessary tools to do DIY in groups or pairs. Ask one of them to give some tips: For example: First, choose a piece of paper. Second, draw a heart on the paper. Next, cut out the heart with a pair of scissors. After that, draw some pictures on the card. Finally, write some wishes on the card. 4. Encourage the students to show their DIY works in the front. Use the following useful expressions: You’d better put away the tools first. No problems! Shall we start? What’s DIY exactly? It stands for“do-it-yourself”. I enjoy making something new. Because… Step 5 Comic strip 1. Ask students to look at the pictures and guess: What will Hobo do? 2. Listen to the tape of Comic Strip. 3. Read and fill in the blanks. First, read ____________. Next, get some ______. Finally, decorate his new house by ________. Answers: the instructions, tools, himself 4. Act out! Encourage the students to act out the comic in pairs. Tell them: You’d better speak loudly, and act vividly.
