    Unit 5  Art world Integrated skills & Study skills

    设计说明

    首先通过复习关于谭盾的音乐来导入新课,然后讨论各种艺术形式,听录音了解关于音乐会的情况,根据录音完成一系列的任务,再根据此内容展开说的练习,让学生谈论自己喜欢的音乐形式以及关于去参加音乐会的情况。介绍阅读技巧,即根据上下文的提示猜测单词的含义,讲解和练习相结合。最后利用练习来复习巩固本节课知识。

    教学目标

    通过本课时的教学,让学生达成以下目标:

    1.知识目标:

    1掌握单词和短语:concert, folk, jazz, rock, country, cowboy, guitar, lasting, value, drum, African, American, tonight, country musicAfrican American, make up, local colour;

    2掌握根据上下文猜测词义的方法。

    2.能力目标:

    1通过听说练习,听懂有关艺术节音乐演出的介绍;

    2)学会邀请别人参加某项活动的表达;

    3)训练学生听说的技能,逐步掌握听力技巧。

    3.情感目标:

    培养学生对各种音乐的兴趣,用音乐来陶冶情操。

    重点难点

    重点:掌握单词和短语,学习描述各种音乐形式及其特点;听懂关于艺术节演出的文章。

    难点:学会邀请别人参加某项活动的表达

    教学准备

    PPT 课件;相关图片。

    教学过程

    Step 1  Lead-in

    1. Talk about Tan Dun. What kind of music does he like?

    2. Free talk: What kind of music do you like?

    Step 2  Presentation  

    1. Show them different kinds of music. Present the new words and talk about

    different kinds of music.

    2. Read the new words.

    Step 3  Listen and practice 

    1. Show A1. Read the poster and answer the question.

    How many music concerts are there in the show?

    Answer: 5/Five.

    2. Listen to the recording and complete the poster with the correct date and time. Then check the answers.

    Answers(1) 5   (2) 10:20 a.m.   (3) 1 p.m.   (4) 5:30 p.m.   (5) 9 p.m.

    3. Work on A2. Ask them to read through the content in A2. Listen and match the music with its characteristics. After listening, check the answers and give them some explanation.

    Answers: 1 e   2 a     3 d    4 c    5 b

    4. Listen again and finish A3. Then check the answers. Give them some explanation if necessary.

    5. Talk show: What kind of art forms do you like?

    Step 4  Speak up 

    1. Sandy is inviting her friend Janice to a concert. Listen to the conversation. Answer the following questions.

    (1) What kind of concert is it?

    (2) When does it start?

    (3) Where is it held?

    (4) Where will they meet?

    (5) When will they meet?

    Answers: (1) It is a classical music concert.  (2) At 7 p.m. 

    (3) At Sunshine Theatre.  (4) At the gate of the theatre.  (5) At 6:50 p.m.

    2. Listen and read the dialogue in pairs.

    3. Act it out in pairs.

    Step 5  Language points

    musicians make up the music while playing 音乐家们即兴创作音乐

    make up 意为“编,编造”,为“动词+副词”结构的短语,名词作宾语时位于up前后都可,代词作宾语时只能位于makeup之间。

    The teacher often asks us to make up dialogues in class. 老师经常叫我们在课堂上编对话。

    I told the kids a story, making it up as I went along.

    我给孩子们讲了个故事,是现编的。

    拓展】make up还表示“组成,构成”。

    Twelve doctors made up a medical team.12名医生组成了一个医疗队。

    Step 6  Study skills

    1. Give them some explanation about guessing the meaning of a word from the context.

    If a new word appears in a sentence, the sentence itself might give the meaning of the word. When we look at the words before and after the new word, it is possible to find its meaning. The common hint words: like, such as, as, it means, refer to…

    2. Ask them to read the sentence and guess the meaning.

    The teacher’s question was a real riddle, a very difficult question to understand. What is the meaning of the word riddle?

    Answer: A very difficult question to understand.

    Exercise

    Choose the meaning of the words underlined.

    (1) The glass is very hard but also very brittle. It means it can break easily.

    A. 刺耳的    B. 不易弯的   C. 易碎的    D. 明亮的

    (2) The purpose was to catch ringers , students who take tests for others.

    A. 替考者    B. 小偷       C. 作弊      D. 违纪者

    3. Do A. Give them some explanation.

    Answers1 the person who sold and checked tickets on the bus

             2 the science of farming

             3 the students course of study at school

    4. Tell the students if the sentence does not define the word, first, try to determine the word’s part of speech. Then look at the way other words are used in the sentence, as this might give a clue to the meaning of the new word.

    I sat on the green grass watching the white clouds sailing across the azure sky.

    Azure means blue, the colour of the sky.

    5. Do B and give them some explanation.

    Answers: 2 cars, buses and other means of transport

           4 people that/who are walking in the street

    Step 7  Homework

    1. Revise Integrated skills and Study skills and finish the exercises in the workbook.

    2. Preview Task.
