1.【福建省福建师范大学附属中学2022-2023学年高三上学期试题】
阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。
On a hot September afternoon, Peter and his friend Isabel were on their way to the library. When they passed by Tubman park, Isabel suggested cutting through it to get to the library. As they entered the park, the sight of the swings (秋千) and the merry-go-round brought back a flood of memories of their childhood spent there. But now everything looked so old, sad, and dirty. Litter lay on the ground next to an overflowing trash bin. There were still young schoolchildren playing there but they had to avoid the trash that littered the playground. A little boy told them that the city took the other trash cans away and the remaining one never got emptied often.
As they headed toward the library, the two high school students wrinkled their forehead. In the library, they encountered Mrs. Evans, their kind-hearted fifth-grade teacher, retired yet still passionate. Mrs. Evans listened as Isabel and Peter eagerly explained what they’d seen. Finally, she recommended them to go to the City Hall to voice their concerns.
The next day, Isabel and Peter went into the building of the City Hall but were met with an impatient officer. They were informed that the city couldn’t help with their problem due to a tight budget. Discouraged, they left and turned to Mrs. Evans for help.
Under her guidance, they decided to ask Go Green, a non-profit organization whose goal is to protect the environment, for help. “This group is good at raising money for projects just like yours, ” said Mrs. Evans. She promised to arrange them to present their ideas to Go Green. Hearing this, their face lit up.
Two main tasks remained ahead: researching ways to clean up the park and preparing a convincing presentation. As Isabel was good at researching while Peter always had a talent for speaking, they cooperated quite well. Isabel learned from a science magazine that a new type of trash bin can squeeze the trash down without being emptied often, which saves time, money, and energy. Based on this, Peter practiced his presentation over and over again.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】A week later, Peter stood nervously at the back of the hall where Go Green was meeting. Finally, it was time for him to do the presentation. Standing in front of several experts from Go Green, Peter was nervous in fear of screwing things up. But unbelievably, when he began to speak, everything went so smoothly. His voice was clear and influential, and his speech was logical and well-organized. Peter ended his presentation with a deep bow and went out to wait for Go Green’s decision.
After the meeting, Isabel excitedly told Peter the good news. Their ideas were approved and Go Green agreed to provide the money they needed to purchase the trash bin. Peter smiled. It meant not only their efforts paid off, but also Tubman park would restore its cleanness and tidiness. Peter and Isabel decided to tell Mrs. Evans this good news first and then worked out the next step they needed to take.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I was turning ten in the summer of 1995. On a warm evening while at dinner table, my mom announced we were taking a trip to Niagara Falls when summer vacation started so that we could celebrate my birthday there.
It all sounded incredibly good until mom said we would be driving to Canada. As was often the case, my dad would do all the driving when my mom managed the directions. But dad often took wrong turns along the way and mom would not stop complaining.
It wasn’t all that I didn’t like the car rides. I looked over at my 6-year-old sister, Marlene. She giggled at me and rolled her eyes. Driving in the car meant I’d share the back seat with my sister, who would never stop making noise unless she was asleep.
“Hey, can we take a plane there instead?” I asked between mouthfuls of hamburger and French fries. Sometimes, when dad had a day off from work, we would drive out to Idlewild Airport to watch the planes take off and land. I always hoped that one day I could get to sit in my own seat on one of those planes. It would be so cool to get high up the beautiful sky.
“Sorry honey, maybe next time.” my mother replied as she and my father exchanged glances. I turned to my sister, hoping she would say she wanted to get on a plane too, but she simply stuck her tongue out at me and giggled again.
Don’t they get it? I was in desperate need of a plane ride, and I needed something cool to talk about with my friends when we got home. “Sitting in the back seat of the car sucks.” I blurted (脱口而出) out.
“Jay!” My mom shouted. “Watch your mouth!”
“OK, sorry, but I really want to go by plane.”
“This conversation is over.” My dad growled. “Finish your eating and go to your room.”

【答案】We left two days later on Saturday morning in our car. Reluctant as I was, I helped stuff the car truck full of suitcases. There I was stuck in the back seat with no hope of having great tales of adventure for my friends and little expectation of celebrating my birthday with style. After what seemed like a lifetime, I felt extremely bored as Marlene fell asleep beside me. Rolling down the window, I caught a glimpse of a large plane flying overhead. How I wished I were on that plane! At that moment, I noticed my father made a turn off the highway and drove past a sign that read “Airport Parking”. I couldn’t believe my eyes. We were heading right into the airport.
I was told to wait until we checked in our bags at the airport. “We were planning this as a birthday present for you all along,” Mom explained, “despite your impolite language the other night, Happy birthday, sweetheart !” My Dad also wished me a happy birthday as he bent down to kiss my head while Marlene threw her arms around me, winking and giggling heartily. Overwhelmed with emotions, I looked at the boarding pass in my hands, finally waking up to the fact that my dream of taking a flight indeed came true. Yet what touched me most was the great 1ove, patience and tolerance from my family. It was my best birthday ever!

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的文章。
On the first day of school, I stared in awe at the huge buildings. This high school was definitely bigger than the one I had previously attended.
This was my second year of high school, but my first year of school in St. Louis. I had decided the night before that I would be much happier in a new school if I made friends that were so-called “popular”. Getting in with the right group of people would make my life a whole lot better. I even bought a new outfit and had my hair styled just so the first day would be perfect.
Scared, yet anxious to begin my new life, I walked up the stairs to the front door. The halls were packed with kids yelling and laughing and telling stories of their summer adventures. My first class was geometry, but where was that?
I was standing in the hall looking confused, when a short, blond girl wearing glasses came up and asked, “Are you new? You look lost. Do you need help? My name is Diane. What’s yours?” Even though she seemed a bit strange, definitely not the kind of person I wanted to be associated with, I decided to answer her anyway. I was, after all, lost.
After exchanging names. I followed her up the stairs and down a hallway on the right, making polite conversation the whole way. When we reached my room she said, “Well, here you are. Welcome to JFK, and I hope your day goes all right.”
I said thanks and waved good-bye. Once inside the classroom, I saw one big group of people huddled around someone who seemed to be telling some sort of story. I walked over and got close enough to overhear. All eyes were glued to the guy in the middle of the circle who was wearing a letter jacket covered with patches. I decided that this guy was popular, so I managed to get a seat right next to him. I said, “Hi, my name is Lisa and I’m new here.” He said, “Johnny.”

【答案】One Possible Version:
At the end of the class, I turned to him and asked, “I’m not sure where my next class is, could you help me?” With a frown, he looked at me and then said a quick no, turned back to his friends, and walked out of the classroom. As they were walking out I heard him say, “Did you guys see that new girl trying to get into our group? That outfit was too strange.” They all laughed and some of them turned around and stared at me. My face hot with shame, I stood stock-still, not believing what had just happened.
Just at that time, someone came up and tapped me on the shoulder. It was Diane. Like a ray of sunshine, the big smile on her face swept away my gloom. I struggled to hold my feelings back and told her what I had encountered. A gleam of concern in her eyes, she said she was sorry and offered to find my next class. At that moment I realized how wrong I was in wanting to only be friends with popular people. Maybe I shouldn’t decide whether a person is worth being my friend or not by their reputation, but by who they are.

阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
When I was about six years old, my family and I went to Disneyland one weekend and had a wonderful day full of excitement. Little did I know that the real excitement wasn’t to begin until that night.
While we watched the fireworks, I began to get an urge to go to the restroom, but I didn’t want to miss the show. I overheard my sister Isabel talking to my mom, and I got closer to them to hear what they were talking about.
“Mom, I’m going to the bathroom with Lizette, okay?” said Isabel.
“Okay,” my mom replied, “but stay together. I don’t want any of you getting lost. ”
The second I saw my sisters leaving, I didn’t think twice before running after them—without telling my parents. As I followed them through the huge crowd of people, I started to lose sight of them. I began to panic as I scanned the crowd for them. Crazy thoughts ran through my head like “What if I never see my family again?”
I gave up trying to find my sisters and tried to get back to my family, but I was completely mixed up. After searching for what seemed like forever, I couldn’t hold back my tears, and I started crying like I had never cried before.
“Mommy!” I cried out. But everyone around me was too caught up by the fireworks to pay any attention to me.
I tried to stop the scary thoughts that were going through my head and started running as fast as I could...anywhere...everywhere. I was going crazy. I’m only six, and I’ve gotten lost. “What have I done? How could I have been so dumb to run off without telling anyone?” I thought.
With my face wet from tears, I kept running, pulling at people’s pants and crying, “Mommy!” I was hoping, wishing, that one of these adults would be one of my parents.

【答案】Luckily, I felt a pat on my shoulder and a gentle voice came, “Are you lost”? “Yeeesss!” I cried. It was a lady working at Disney. She picked me up and carried me through the crowd as she kept asking me where my parents had been standing. As I began to feel safe in the lady’s arms, I calmed down and thought for a few minutes. I remembered we had been leaning against a wooden fence. She carried me around the wooden fence, asking random people, “Is this your child?” “No. Sorry,” everyone kept saying. You’re sorry? Look at me. I’m looking for my mommy, I thought.
Finally, through the crowd of people, I recognized a face. I was so happy. “Mommy!” I shouted as I pointed toward her so the lady could carry me to her. When the lady put me down, I ran to my mom and gave her a huge hug. I couldn’t let go of her. I didn’t want to lose her again. As I cried in my mother’s arms, my family thanked the nice lady for everything she had done for me. For the rest of the evening and the entire next day, I was more concerned with making sure that my parents were within my sight at all times than I was with seeing the sights at Disneyland. I look back at these memories and laugh at myself, but to this day, I always make sure to tell someone where I am going before I run off.

I had just changed into my running clothes and was leaving my office, off for a run even though it was well over 38℃ outside. I couldn’t explain it, but I felt the need to run despite the record heat. A quarter-mile into my jog, I was exhausted. I admitted defeat and turned around. As I approached my car, I saw a dog circling it.
When I reached for the door handle, the dog disappeared beneath the car into the shade. I grabbed my bottle and took a drink of water. I then got down on my knees to look for the dog. When I stood up, I found him sitting in the driver’s seat, panting (喘息). I reached over and started the car, turning the air conditioning on high. He turned his face toward the vents, enjoying the cold air, his moustache blowing. I poured some water into the bottle cap and offered it to the dog. He drained it in a few desperate gulps (一大口). I refilled it several times before he had his fill.
He wore no collar. I walked around but there was no one in sight. I stood there, looking at the dog staring back at me through the window. He waited patiently as if he’d been in my car dozens of times before. I didn’t know what to do. Leaving him in that heat was out of the question. He would die.
I decided to drive him home. Before we were out of the parking lot, he had climbed onto my lap. He looked up at me, and then licked my sweaty face. “Ugh! No licking!”
I had never been a dog person. They smelt, they were loud, and they were messy. My newly-married husband had already resigned to the fact that we would never have a dog. And now one was in my car, on my lap! I pulled into my driveway and shrugged as my husband saw the dog, his eyes wide at this new development.

【答案】参考范文
I told him I was calling the animal shelter, lifting the dog out of the car. We sat together waiting for shelter workers, while the dog didn’t move except to lick my face. Strangely, I was already starting to like this feeling. I petted him, comforting him that everything would be okay. When the shelter workers arrived, he rose suddenly, and then lowered his eyes disappointedly. Seeing the sweet dog loaded onto the van, patting on the window helplessly, I felt a mixture of relief and sadness. My heart spoke before I knew it, “If he isn’t claimed, I’ll adopt him.”
Ten days later, I went to the shelter to bring the dog home. At the sight of me, he circled around me, wagging his tail and licking my hands cheerfully. As I opened the door, he couldn’t wait to jump onto the seat as he did on the day we first met. On our arrival, my husband had already prepared a cozy hut for him. In the following days, he followed me everywhere, expressing his gratitude to have a home. But I felt I was the one to be grateful, for the opportunity to experience such an unexpected bond with an animal.

It was time for graduates to hunt for jobs. The majority of them didn’t have working experience for they had spent most of their time at school studying academic subjects. It was not until they graduated from college that they realized it was a challenge for them to land jobs.
Jimmy, one of these job hunters, was a young academically excellent person. One day, after making good preparations, he went to apply for a managerial position in a big company. In spite of fierce competition, he managed to pass the first interview. What a lucky dog! Jimmy was informed to come for the next round in a few days — the last interview for the company to make the final decision.
The big day finally came. He dressed neatly, the grey tie matching perfectly the decent suit. Blood rushing to his face and heart pounding heavily, he tried to calm down, and then took a few deep breaths. It was his turn.
The interviewer, an elegant lady, discovered from the CV that the youth’s academic achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research. After several rounds of questions related to the position, she asked, “Have you ever done any part-time jobs?” “None.” After a while, the interviewer asked who paid for Jimmy’s school fees. The youth answered in a low voice, “My father passed away when I was one year old, so it was my mother who paid for all my school fees.”
She continued, “What did your mother do?” “My mother worked as a clothes cleaner.” The lady requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.
The interviewer paused for a second, leaning against the chair, “Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before?” Ashamed, Jimmy replied, “Never. My mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me.” She nodded, adding, “I have a request. When you go back today, go and clean your mother’s hands, and then see me back here tomorrow morning.”

Back home, Jimmy requested his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to the kid. It was the first time he had noticed that there were so many bruises in her hands. His tears fell as he cleaned her hands. This was also the first time he had realized that it was the bruises in the mother’s hands that were the price that the mother had to pay for his graduation, academic excellence and his future. After cleaning his mother’s hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother. That night, mother and son talked for a very long time.
The next morning, Jimmy went to the interviewer’s office. “What have you done and learned, young man?” Jimmy answered with tears in his eyes, “I cleaned my mother’s hands and all the remaining clothes.” The lady nodded, “Please share something with me.” The youth said, “Firstly, I know now what appreciation is. Without my mother, there would not be the successful me today. Additionally, by working together and helping my mother, I now realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done. Ultimately, I have learned to appreciate the importance and value of family relationship.” The interviewer smiled, “This is what I am looking for to be my manager. You are hired. Congratulations!”

Volunteers will take turns to stay down here by the fire, away from the tents. Those who take part will get a chance to see a world that many of you never knew existed.”
Alan’s stomach tightened. Then he heard the officer continue, “There are no dangerous animals this close to Cape Town. Any volunteers?”
A tough-looking kid with red hair muttered something about needing a good night’s sleep. Another boy spoke up. “I’ll take a shift.” The kid who’d sat next to Alan on the bus volunteered. Alan sat tight. Then one of the girls raised her hand with a giggle. Alan frowned. If a girl could do it, he could, too. He volunteered.
A few more kids raised their hands, and then the officer explained, “This is how it works. When the rest of you go to bed in a tent, the first watcher takes his or her place by the fire. The duty of watcher is to keep the fire going gently. After thirty minutes, he or she wakes the next person.”
Alan heard his voice asking, “Are you sure it’s absolutely safe?”
The officer looked at him. “The danger is minimal. We wouldn’t have taken you here otherwise. Do you still want to volunteer?” Alan nodded but felt uneasy.
Earlier that day, the officer had challenged the campers to spot animal tracks along the river. That was fun. But being alone in the dark was not. Alan’s flashlight was already fading to a dim glow because he had used it too often. Looking around, Alan thought he saw a large bird swooping (俯冲) and wondered if it was an owl. He had seen small paw prints in the sand by the river. Was the owl hunting for the creature that had made them?

Paragraph2:

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
Hearing a noise, Alan froze, feeling something was there in the darkness. A ripple of fear crept up on him as he cast a glance there. Heart beating wildly, Alan made his way to the noise, with both of his legs trembling uncontrollably. A closer look convinced him that it was only a rabbit, which quickly disappeared in the dark. In relief, he felt the gentle breeze rubbing his face. The moon shedding its silver light on the woods, Alan was greeted by the sound of birds and insects. Enveloped by fragrant air, he felt as if in the wonderland.
The next morning, the officer asked for reports. Other campers bragged about their adventure in the dark—how they ran into some “horrible” creatures and bravely scared them off. The officer, wearing a doubtful look, offered no comments. When it was Alan’s turn, he told the truth that there were no scary animals but breathtaking scenery to be explored. A smile blossomed on the officer’s face. That was exactly what the camping was all about. Only after one overcame the fear in his own heart could he embrace the real beauty of nature.

Two little girls, Addie and Gracie, neatly dressed as they were going for a pleasant walk and pretty lunch-baskets filled with the nicest of things, started out for a walk up the canyon(峡谷). There was a good road for long distance. Then it branched off right and left. The trees grew taller, the bushes thicker and more twisted and they felt as if they were away off in a little world of their own. How nice it was! Birds came close overhead, and they saw several live squirrels. After gathering a great many flowers and eating lunch, and having had enough walking for a while, they began telling certain fairy stories in which the parties all lived out in the woods.
The day wore along until afternoon, when the canyon began to grow dark very fast. “Do you think we’d better start home?”asked Addie.“I guess it’s early yet. But if you wish we might walk slowly down a little way”, said Gracie. With a show of some reluctance, Addie gathered her treasures together, and they started at a leisurely pace, which somehow was gradually accelerated without the apparent notice.
These children had gone farther up the canyon than they had realized. The many charms had attracted them along and they didn’t feel tired for a long while. Suddenly, a low rumble was heard that increased and seemed to be rapidly coming in their direction.
“It’s raining! Are there any caves?” “Only way up on the side.” “Let’s take hold of hands and run!” “We’d have to drop our flowers.” “I don’t care. Hurry!” Away they went, the wind driving the rain right in their faces. The pretty hats were dripping. The light pink dresses hung straight down, and their shoes were sopping wet. “Do you think our parents will come after us when they know it’s storming up here?”
Addie began to cry.

Addie bagan to cry. “If it doesn’t stop raining, are we just going to have to spend the night here? I want to go home. I miss my mom and dad!”Tears like beads from the broken line , kept flowing down Addie’s cheeks. “Don’t be afraid! Maybe the rain will stop soon.” Cracie gave her a hug to comfort her. After taking off their wet hats and shoes, the two girls sat quietly in the cave side by side, waiting for the rain to stop anxiously. After a while, it cleared up.
They were about to leave the cave when a figure came into sight, calling their names. “Daddy!” Hearing the voice they were familar with, they got up immediately and rushed to the mouth of the cave, without putting on their shoes. Sure enough, their dad came! The two girls hugged their dad joyfully and said in a frightened voice, “We will never be separated from you again.” “Honey, dad is here! I am also worried about you! Never can you go so far without parents!” They nodded non-stop and went home happily along with their father.

9.【福建省厦门第一中学2022-2023学年高三上学期12月试题 】
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I love parties. I love planning for them, making the invitations, planning the games and decorating my own cake. The only thing that I don't like is deciding on the guest list. When 1 was in grade school my mom would tell me the maximum number of friends that I could invite and it was always a number too small for my list.
I also liked all different kinds of people. I never quite fit into one of the many little groups at my school, so I just kind of floated around, accumulating friends from various backgrounds. There was an “in" crowd made up of the cool kids who had the power to rule the school-if a cool kid wore two different colored socks to school one day, everyone thought it was great. But if an uncool kid did the same thing, the other kids would turn away in disgust (厌恶).It made getting dressed in the morning a very scary thing.
Shannon was one of my friends who seemed to unknowingly break the rules of uncoolness" all the time. I don't know why she was targeted, but people found it acceptable to make fun of her. Shannon was a nice girl and wore pretty clothes, but was somewhat overweight and didn't talk much. She was picked on a lot. Whenever there was an strange noise or smell in the classroom the kids would giggle (咯咯笑)and point at her. Shannon never said anything, but it made me feel sick inside. Shannon was innocent, I thought.
One year, to celebrate my birthday, my mom told me I could have a party at our house. I struggled for days deciding on which girls to invite. Once I had chosen all the names, I made the invitations and handed them out to my friends at school.
“Why did you invite her?” asked one of my cool friends when it was discovered that I had invited Shannon. She pressured me to tell her not to come. There were other people I could add in her place who would be more acceptable.

Paragraph 2 :

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】Paragraph 1:
Unsure what to do, I was put in a difficult situation. I liked Shannon, yet I was afraid that I would become the target of the children’s ridicule if I insisted on inviting Shannon to my party. I knew the right thing to do, but I struggled with the fear of having to live with my decision. Finally, my consciousness took over. I decided not to say anything to Shannon and let the invitations stay as written, despite the fact that I was worried about what would happen. Luckily, the party worked out well, with all of us having fun together.
Paragraph 2:
Weeks later, Shannon suddenly called to thank me for inviting her to the party. She said my invitation brightened her days. Shannon cherished the memory of that birthday party. It was important to her that I had welcomed her into the fun, and it was a day when she felt accepted and part of a group. She talked about the games we played and the cake we ate, remembering all the details. For me, it was just a simple party. But for Shannon, it was a signal of acceptance.

10.【湖南省长沙市长郡中学2022-2023学年高三上学期试题】
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Alice had just been appointed in the multinational bank. After one month of severe training, today was her first day to go to work.
She got up a bit earlier than usual, and decided to skip her gym workout as she did not want to risk being tired or getting late to her office on her first day. She went through her morning routine and spent a lot of time in selecting what to wear. None of her dresses seemed to appeal to her—they were either a little too casual or too dull and she definitely wanted to make an impression right from the start. Finally she settled on the white embroidered (刺绣的) dress.
She waved bye to her mom and set off cheerfully towards the bus stop. But she saw a bus leaving the stop just as she crossed the street. Now she would have to wait for a good 15 minutes. 15 minutes passed and then 30 minutes and there was no sign of the bus. “It must be stuck in heavy traffic”, a kind lady who was also waiting for the bus told her. Hearing that, Alice got anxious. She had to reach her office on time. Then she saw a taxi approaching but when she tried to stop it, the taxi driver sped by without even taking a glance at her. Alice was wondering what she could do.
It was then that a car stopped near her and a man waved to her. The driver asked her where she was going and after Alice told him that she was going to the bank at Nariman Point, the man said “Oh, my office is in the nearby building. Can I give you a lift?” Alice hesitated for a moment and got into the car. They exchanged names and began to talk for a while. Then the driver switched on the radio and was absorbed in the song. Alice looked out of the window and imagined her first day at work, worrying whether she was capable of the new job, and if she could get along well with her colleagues. After about ten minutes, Alice realized they were not on the familiar route to her office.

【答案】Paragraph 1:
She began to worry that she might get into the car of a bad man. So she asked cautiously whether they were going to her bank. The driver said that they took a new shortcut, as there was usually heavy traffic on the other one at this hour, and continued his song. That made some sense and Alice didn't say anything more. Another fifteen minutes passed, and the road was even stranger for her. That man was driving speedily and Alice became more and more anxious. She decided that when the car next stopped at the traffic lights, she would jump out.
Paragraph 2:
Then the car turned around a corner and Alice saw the tall building where her office was unexpectedly. She breathed a sigh of relief. Within minutes, they reached the gate of the building. "Here we are!" the driver pulled up and said. Alice got out of the car, her face turning red. She felt quite sorry for having doubted the driver. She believed there were indeed more kind people in the world. She said, "Thank you very much!", with a big smile, and hurried to her office with great expectation. She knew she would have a good day.
