Lesson 35: Theatres Are Fun!
设计说明 首先,通过让学生讲《渔夫和金鱼》的故事,回顾上两课节所学故事。 借助让学生思考剧作家和喜欢的戏剧,导入新课。呈现本课生词、短语,借助图片及句子语境,加深学生的感知。学习新课,设置听课文完成句子的活动,锻炼学生有针对性地听材料的技能。接下来让学生对课文进行精读,包括阅读课文判断正误、阅读课文回答问题等。让学生在对话中找出重要的短语,并将短语翻译成汉语,加深对重要内容的理解。完成Let’s Do It! No. 2中的匹配练习。接下来,针对这些戏剧,学生进一步完成戏剧相关的信息,为后面的写作准备素材。通过让学生写自己最喜欢的戏剧或剧作家的短文, 锻炼学生的写作技能,并培养学生对经典戏剧的热爱。讲解课文中的重难点,巩固所学英语知识。最后,学生通过当堂检测,检验对本课节的掌握情况。 教学目标 通过本课节的教学,学生达成以下目标: 1. 知识目标 掌握单词:handsome 接触单词:playwright, tragedy, teahouse 短语:in order to 2. 能力目标 (1)了解莎士比亚和老舍、曹禺。 (2)能够用英语谈论戏剧表演。 (3)能够写有关戏剧或剧作家的短文。 3. 情感目标 培养学生对经典戏剧的热爱,弘扬戏曲艺术,提高学生人文素养。 重点难点 1. 重点:掌握本课节的生词短语,了解莎士比亚和老舍、曹禺。 2. 难点:能够用英语谈论戏剧表演;能够写有关戏剧或剧作家的短文。 教学准备 PPT 课件;有关生词学习的图片;与本课节相关的音频文件。 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1 Revision Let the students tell the story of The Fisherman and the Goldfish. Give them some hints: On the Sea—A Poor House—A New House—On the Sea. Step 2 Thinking about it Ask the students to answer the following questions. Can you name some famous playwrights? Who are they? What kinds of play do you like? Why? Step 3 Presentation Show some pictures to teach the new words and the expression: handsome, play- wright, tragedy, teahouse and in order to. n. 剧作家 adj. 好看的;英俊的 William Shakespeare is a great playwright. Do you know any handsome roles in his plays? King Lear is a tragedy. n. 悲剧 n. 茶馆 You can have tea and watch plays or operas in Lao She Teahouse. We prepared for a long time in order to perform well. 为了;以便 Step 4 Listening and completing 1. Let the students listen to the recording and fill in the blanks with the words they hear. (1) Danny played . (2) Li Ming watched William Shakespeare’s last year. (3) hopes to go to the Teahouse and watch Teahouse. 2. Get the class to read the lesson and write true (T) or false (F). (Let’s Do It! No.1) (1) William Shakespeare is a world-famous playwright. (2) Shakespeare’s works are all comedies and historical pieces. (3) Hamlet is a famous comedy. (4) Teahouse was written by Lao She. (5) Cao Yu wrote the play Thunderstorm. (6) In Lao She Teahouse Theatre, you can drink tea while enjoying a play. 2. Ask them to work out the answers in groups. 3. Elicit answers by asking individual students. Answers: (1) T (2) F (3) F (4)T (5) T (6) T Step 6 Reading and answering Let the students read the lesson again and answer the following questions. (1) Are Shakespeare’s works all tragedies? (2) Do we Chinese have any excellent playwrights and famous plays in China? (3) Do we Chinese have a Lao She Teahouse in Beijing? Answers: (1) No, they aren’t. His early plays were mainly comedies and historical pieces. But most of his famous works are tragedies. (2) Yes, we do. For example, Cao Yu’s Thunderstorm and Lao She’s Teahouse. (3) Yes, we do. Step 7 Finding and translating Ask the students to find the following phrases in the lesson and translate them into Chinese. (1) on one’s way home 在某人回家的路上 (2) look like 看起来像 (3) perform a play 表演话剧 (4) can’t wait to do 迫不及待地做…… (5) in order to 为了;以便 (6) on stage 在舞台上 (7) at the same time 同时 Step 8 Matching 1. Let them work in groups. Ask and answer. (1) T: What famous plays did William Shakespeare write? Possible answers: Hamlet Romeo and Juliet The Merchant of Venice Macbeth King Lear Othello (2) T: What famous plays did Lao She write? Possible answers: Teahouse Longxu Slum Camel Xiangzi Four Generations in One Household (3) T: What famous plays did Cao Yu write? Possible answers: Thunderstorm Sunrise Wilderness Beijing People 2. Match each play with its playwright. (Let’s Do It! No.2) Answers: Step 9 Practice Choose one of the above plays and complete the table. (Let’s Do It! No.3) Example:

Step 11 Language points 1. I can’t wait to see them. 我迫不及待地要见到它们。 can’t wait to do…意为“迫不及待做某事”。 The children couldn’t wait to open the box. 孩子们迫不及待打开了盒子。 2. Some research was done in order to make the play. 为了演这部戏剧(我们)做了一下研究。 in order to意为“为了;以便”。当强调目的时,可用in order to或so as to,这时,in order to 可用于句首,也可用于句中;so as to则只用于句中。 In order to get there on time, we must get up early. =We must get up early in order to/so as to get there on time. 为了按时到达那儿,我们必须早起床。 3. Cao Yu’s Thunderstorm and Lao She’s Teahouse have been on stage for many years—and still are today. 曹禺的《雷雨》和老舍的《茶馆》已经在舞台上上演了许多年——当今仍在上演。 on stage意为“在舞台上;当众”。 We’ll put a play on stage.我们要上演一出戏。 4. But we do have a Lao She Teahouse in Beijing. 但在北京我们确实有个老舍茶馆。 do在本句中用作助动词, 起加强语气或者强调谓语的作用。此时常表示“的确;确实”。主语是第三人称单数时,用does;句子是一般过去时时,用did。 You do have a toy car, right?你的确有个玩具车,对吗?
