    Unit 2  If you ever go to London, make sure you visit

    the Science Museum.

    设计说明

    教师通过与孩子们谈论他们曾经去过的博物馆以及最喜欢的博物馆等问题,很自然地导入新课;通过结对活动、小组合作等方式巩固词汇;通过听说训练,让学生进一步掌握if引导的条件状语从句和表示“禁止做某事”的结构的用法;讲练结合,复习巩固前面所学的知识点和本单元新学知识点;朗读短文,提升朗读能力;通过设置针对性的写作任务,提升运用语言的能力。

    教学目标

    通过本单元的教学,让学生达成以下目标:

    1. 知识目标

    学习本单元新单词及短语 communications, physics, chemistry, dig, coal, energy, X-ray, experiment, sand, control, truck, wheel, compare…with…, of all ages, whole

    2. 能力目标

    学会谈论伦敦的科学博物馆

    3. 情感目标

    了解英国科学博物馆,培养对科学的探究精神和动脑动手的习惯。

    Step 1 Lead-in

    Ask and answer.

    T: Boys and girls, have you ever visited any museums?

    Ss: Yes, we have.

    T: What are they?

    Ss:

    T: What kind of museums do you like most? Why?

    Get to know:

    Show some pictures of the Science Museum in London. Get the students to know about it.

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Step 2  Pair work

    Work in pairs. Look at the pictures and talk about the differences between the two museums.

    (1) Give the students enough time to think about the differences between the two pictures.

    (2) Ask them to work in pairs to discuss the two pictures.

    (3) Discuss as a class and find out which type of museum the students prefer.

    Step 3  Fast reading

    1. Listen and read. Now check (√) the true sentences.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    (1) Ask the students to read the sentences carefully.

    (2) Ask them to listen to the passage.

    (3) Have the students check the true sentences. Get them to read the passage again if necessary.

    (4) Check answers.

    How is the Science Museum different from other museums?

    Answer:

    It is noisy, and you can touch things and do experiments there.

    Step 4  Careful reading

    1. Complete the Tony’s favourite museum column in the table.

    (1) Ask the students to read the passage again and then complete the table on their own.

    (2) Ask them to check answers in pairs.

    (3) Check answers as a class.

    Ask the students to read the passage carefully one paragraph by one paragraph and complete the table.

    4. Let the students read the passage.

    (1) Ask the students to follow the recording to read.

    1. Answer the questions. Use the words in the box to help you.

    Ask the students to answer the questions according to the words in the box.

    fill…with…意为“用…………装满”,fill是及物动词,意为“装满”。

    compare…with…意为“比较…………。表示此意时也可用compare…to…

    Step 7  Writing

    1. Let the students decide what the underlined words in the sentences refer to.

    1 But the Science Museum is different… It is noisy!

    2 People talk about what they can see and do here.

    3 You can always find something new and have a wonderful time there.

    First, ask the students to read the sentences and look at the underlined words. Tell them to decide what the underlined words refer to. Then ask the students to check their answers in pairs. Finally, discuss as a class.

    2. Complete the passage with it, they and there.

    There are a lot of museums in London, and one of the most popular is the British Museum. Thousands of people visit (1) ________ every year.     4 What can you see or do there?

    A possible answer:

    There are several museums in my city, including the History Museum, the Science Museum, and even a Space Museum. I like all the museums, but I think I like the History Museum best. It has visiting exhibitions from all over the world. Once I saw some treasures from ancient Egypt there. Another time, they had an exhibition of Roman war engines. It was amazing! The museum is open every day except Thursday. I want to visit it again soon!
