设计说明

本单元是复习单元，集中总结和练习that引导的定语从句的用法；复习巩固本模块的重点单词、短语和句型。本课从指导学生朗读Language practice中的句子入手，引入语法的集中讲解与练习。除语法专项训练外，本单元还安排了词汇和听力的训练以及拓展视野的Around the world栏目。在本课的末尾安排了实践性环节——设计一张关于某个国家的海报。所有这些环节的设置，旨在提升学生的语言运用能力。

Step 1  Review

1. Ask students to read the new words and expressions in Module 10. Use the word and expression cards to help them.

2. Get some students to read the conversation in Unit 1 in different roles.

3. Get the students to read the passage in Unit 2 on their own.

Step 2  Language practice

1. Read the sentences in the box to the class.

2. Get the students to read the sentences.

3. Encourage some of them to repeat the sentences.

Step 3  Grammar

that引导的定语从句

1. 关系代词that既可以指代人也可以指代物，所以that引导的定语从句既可以修饰人，也可以修饰物。如：

The bike that I bought last month is broken. （that指代物）

我上个月买的自行车坏了。

The girl that wears a red coat is my sister. （that指代人）

那个穿着红色外套的女孩是我姐姐。

2. that在从句中可以作主语或宾语，作主语时不可以省略，作宾语时可以省略。如：

The bag that lies on the ground is hers. （充当主语）

地上的那个包是她的。

The old man （that）I visited yesterday is my teacher. （充当宾语）

我昨天拜访的那位老人是我的老师。

3. 在先行词是事物的限定性定语从句中，that和which一般可以互换，但在下列情况下不可以互换，只能用that不能用which作引导词：

（1）先行词是不定代词时，关系代词通常只用that，不用which。如：

He did everything that he could do to help us.

他做了一切他能做的来帮助我们。

（2）先行词被序数词、形容词最高级，the only， the very， the last等修饰时，关系代词通常只用that，不用which。如：

This is the most beautiful city that I’ve ever seen.

这是我见过的最漂亮的城市。

（3）先行词既有人又有物时，关系代词只用that不用which。如：

Tom took photos of the things and people that he was interested in.

汤姆拍摄了他感兴趣的物和人的照片。

（4）主语是以who开头的特殊疑问句时，关系代词通常只用that，不用which。如：

Who is the person that is talking with the headmaster?

和校长说话的那个人是谁？

（5）句中其他位置已出现which，为避免重复，不用which而用that引导限定性定语从句。如：

Which is the car that has overtaken us?

1. Read the passage and underline all the sentences with that.

（1）Ask students to read the passage and find all the sentences with “that”.

（2）Ask students to work in pairs and discuss the meaning of the sentences with that.

Australia has more beaches than any other country—more than 10, 000! It has one of the most famous beaches in the world, called Bondi Beach. Bondi Beach is the most beautiful beach that I have ever seen. It is a huge, wide beach that is very popular for swimming and other water sports. It is a great place to visit and to spend some time at. It is easy to get there by bus or train from the centre of Sydney. The hotel that we stayed in was right on the beach. It was perfect!

2. Complete the conversations. Use that.

（3）Think about how you would present your information: photos, leaflets, descriptions, maps, etc.

2. Collect and present your information.

（1）Look up information on the Internet or ask people who have visited the country if they have any material for you to use.

（2）Present your information in an interesting way.

3. Present your poster to the class.
