Tonight I am more than happy to read out the winners of the photo competition. 今天晚上我十分高兴来宣读摄影比赛的获胜者。1more than happy 意为“非常高兴” 。more than后接形容词时意为“ 很,非常”。They were more than excited to win the match. 他们对赢了比赛非常激动。She is more than friendly. 她十分友好。more than 后接数词时,意为“超过,多余”, 相当于overThere are more than 3000 students in our school. 我们学校有3000多个学生。2read out 意为“大声读;宣读”,其后常接名词。接代词作宾语时,需放于read out 中间。He began to read out the passage. 他开始大声读起文章来。Can you read it out? 你能读出它来吗?Read out what you wrote. 把你写的大声读出来。2. We were very pleased with our competition this year. 我们对今年的比赛十分满意。be pleased with 后接表示人或事的名词或代词,意为“对……感到高兴、满意”。The teacher was really pleased with his study this term. 老师对他这学期的学习感到很满意。The coach is more than pleased with our training. 教练对我们的训练十分满意。【拓展】be pleased to do sth. 意为“很高兴做某事”。I am pleased to receive your present. 我很高兴收到你的礼物。3. Compared with other years, we received many more photos. 与往年相比,我们收到了更多照片。compared with...在句中作状语,意思是“和……相比”,相当于compared to...Compared with/to other supermarkets, the fruits here are much fresher. 与其他超市相比,这里的水果更新鲜。Compared with other places, it is hot and sunny here. 和其他地方相比较,这里又热又阳光明媚。[拓展] compare A with B意为“将AB相比较”。 Lets compare this picture with that one. 我们把这张图片和那张比较一下吧。4. Even though all of the photos are excellent, we are sorry to say that we cannot give prizes to everyone. 尽管所有的照片都很优秀,我们非常抱歉告诉大家,我们不能给每个人颁奖。even though 意为“即使,尽管”,常用来引导让步状语从句。从句内容往往是真实的,主要用于引出不利于主句所表达的情况的信息。even though可用though although替换,但语气比它们更强烈。[注意] even though“尽管”不能与but“但是”用于同一个句子中。Even though it is hard work, I enjoy it. 尽管这是一项艰苦的工作,我却乐在其中。I will have a try even though I may fail. 尽管我可能会失败,我还是要试一下。5. Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who entered the competition. 祝贺获奖者,并感谢参赛的每个人。1congratulations 名词,常用复数形式,意为“祝贺”。常用于短语:congratulations to sb. on sth. )意为“(因某事)向某人祝贺”。对于他人的祝贺,常用thanks/thank you 进行回答。Congratulations to you on winning first prize. 祝贺你获得一等奖。 Thanks a lot. 多谢你。I passed my driving test yesterday. 昨天我通过了驾照考试。Did you?
