    Module 8  AccidentsUnit 2  I was trying to pick it up when it bit me again.设计说明由谈论“假如一条蛇咬了你,你应该怎么做?”引入新课的学习。对课文理解能力的训练采取由浅及深,步步为营的方式。首先是通过听短文和阅读短文将主要事件排序,然后是阅读短文选择正确选项,接下来是完成与短文相关的信息表,最后是看图复述短文。朗读短文,提升学生的口头表达能力;学习新的语言点,继续学习过去进行时态与whenwhile引导的时间状语从句连用的句型,促使学生在词汇和语法上进行积累和巩固。进行有针对性的写作训练,提升学生的书面表达能力。教学目标通过本单元的教学,让学生达成以下目标:1. 知识目标掌握本单元新单词及短语: bite, climb, hide, throw, fridge, pain, worse, medicine2. 能力目标(1)用正确的语音、语调朗读短文,把握其中的细节信息;(2)掌握过去进行时与whenwhile引导的时间状语从句用的句型。3. 情感目标提升自己应对突发事件的能力,掌握一些自救的常识,学会冷静处置事故。重点难点重点短文的朗读与理解;语言点的学习和运用。难点运用所学知识进行相关的书面表达。教学准备PPT课件;短文相关图片;活动3的录音授课时数2课时教学过程Step 1 Leading inT: Boys and girls, do you know snakes?Ss: T: Snakes are dangerous. We should keep clear of them. Think about what you should do if a snake bites you. Ss:  Step 2 Warming upWork in pairs. Talk about what you can do with a mobile phone. (Activity 1 on page 66)T: Look at the picture. What is it?Ss: Its a mobile phone. T: Yes. Imagine you have got a mobile phone. What can you do with it?S1: S2: T: A snake bit a man. The man took a photo of the snake with his mobile phone. Can you believe itSs: Step 3 SpeakingLook at the picture. Say what is happening. (Activity 2 on page 66)1. Show the picture to the class. 2. Ask some questions to help the students to say what is happening. (1) Where is the man?(2) What can you see in the kitchen?(3) How do you feel about the snake?(4) What is the man doing?3. Encourage some children to say something about the picture in class. Step 4 Fast reading1. Listen and read. Then number the events in the order they happened.          Answers: a)-1;  b)-5;  c)-4;  d)-2;  e) -3Step 5 Careful reading1. Read the passage and choose the correct answer. (Activity 4 on page 67)(1) Ask the students to read the passage to get more information. (2) Ask them to choose the correct answer on their own. Step 6 Post-reading1. Complete the passage with the correct form of the words in the box. (Activity 5 on page 67)(1) Go through the words in the box with the class and check if they understand them.   (2) Ask the students to read the passage and think about what is missing. (3) Ask them to complete the passage with the correct form of the words given in the box on their own. (2) Let the students say a few sentences according to each picture. (3) Ask them to retell the story in groups. (4) Encourage some students to retell the story to the whole class. Step 7 Language points1. I was trying to pick it up when it bit me again. 我正试图捡起它,这时它又咬了我一口。pick up意为“捡起;拾起;拿起”。 He picked up his white hat and went away. 他拿起自己白色的帽子走了。 [拓展]pick up还可表示“开车去接某人”。 I will pick up my cousin at the airport this afternoon. 今天下午我将去机场接我的表妹。 [注意]pick up是“动词+副词”型短语,名词作宾语时,放在up前后均可;人称代词作宾语时,必须放在up 之前 Look! There is a wallet on the ground. Please pick it up. 地上有一个钱包,请把它捡起来。 2. As the doctors were checking him, the pain got worse. 医生给他做检查时,疼痛加剧了。 (1) as此处用作连词,意为“当……的时候”,引导时间状语从句,强调主句与从句的动作同时进行。As we walked along the street, he told me the good news. 当我们沿街道散步时,他告诉了我这个好消息。 [拓展]as的其他常见用法: as作介词,意为“作为”。 As a student, we should work hard at school. 作为一名学生,我们在学校应该努力学习。 as作连词,意为“正如”。 As we all know, our country is getting stronger and stronger. 正如我们所知道的,我们的国家正变得越来越强大。 (2) get worse意为“变得更糟糕”,get 连系动词,意为“达到;进入(某种状态)”,后接形容词作表语。 The situation was getting worse and worse. 情况正变得越来越差。 She got angry when she heard the news. 当听到这个消息时她生气了。 3. As he was lying there in great pain, Henry suddenly remembered the photo. 当亨利躺在那儿处于巨大的痛苦中时,他忽然想起了那张照片。pain此处作不可数名词,意为“痛;疼痛”。in pain意为“处于疼痛中”。 Tom fell off his bike and was in great pain. 从自行车上摔了下来,疼得厉害。 [拓展]pain作可数名词,既可指肉体上的疼痛,也可指精神或感情上的悲痛。have a pain in ones back / shoulder表示“背痛/肩痛” My father went to bed early because he had a pain in his back. 由于背痛,我父亲早早地上床睡觉了。 4. As soon as they learnt what kind of snake bit him, they gave Henry the right medicine…他们一知道哪种蛇咬了他,就给亨利用了合适的药……(1)as soon as意为“…………”,引导时间状语从句。注意:如果主句是一般将来时,那么as soon as引导的从句通常用一般现在时表将来。 Linda will call you as soon as she arrives at the station. 琳达一到车站就会给你打电话。 (2) medicine不可数名词,意为“药;药物”take medicine意为“吃药”。 Please take the medicine three times a day. 请一天服三次药。 Chinese medicine is more and more popular in the world. 中药在世界上越来越受欢迎。Step 8 WritingWrite a short story about an accident. (Activity 6 on page 67)1. Ask the students to learn the time marks that can be found in Activity 3. Tell them that they are helpful in the coming writing. 2. Tell them to create a new story, using the time marks as a guide for their order of the events. 3. Ask the students to read their stories to their partners in their groups. 4. Encourage some students to share their stories. One possible answer:One day when a woman was getting dinner ready for the animals at a zoo, her hand began to hurt. A few days earlier, a box of spiders arrived at the zoo from Asia. When she put the box into the spiders’ display, one of them climbed out and ran across the table. While she was trying to pick up the spider and put it back in the box, it bit her hand. She forgot about her pain and continued with her work. She finished giving dinner to the animals, but the pain in her hand got worse. So she hurried to hospital.
