IV. 阅读理解
Sharon, Aged 22
The most important thing to keep in mind when going into high school is to be yourself. Besides, I don’t know what your middle school was like, but high school teachers will not care about things such as how much homework you already have in one night. It’s best to just learn to deal with things and manage your time wisely so you can achieve everything you need to.
Frank, Aged 21
I think almost every kid feels both nervous and excited before their first day. You will probably love it. I know I did. You should join some sports or activities that will make your high school experience more enjoyable. Good luck!
Eddie, Aged 20
When I started high school I was really nervous too, especially since I had been home-schooled all through middle school and didn’t really know anyone. I suppose the best advice would be to just relax. The first couple of days can be a little bit hard, but things will become easier before you know it.
David, Aged 19
I’m not going to lie. The first day is kind of frightening(令人恐惧的). But you’ll get used to it. Don’t be afraid of anyone; upperclassmen will pick on you more if you let them know you’re afraid. Just take it easy. Making some friends and staying with them will greatly help you get used to high school quickly. After the first week it’s really not bad at all. Don’t worry.
1. What can we infer from Sharon about high school?
A. Teachers are quite strict.
B. Students often stay up at night.
C. Teachers provide little care for students.
D. Students should make good use of their time.
2. How did Eddie feel on his first day of high school?

C. Worried. D. Relaxed.
3. Who mentions the importance of friends?
A. Frank. B. David.
C. Sharon. D. Eddie.

High School Study Skills
Excited about starting high school? You should be! High school is one of the most fantastic experiences of your life! 1 This is the time when you begin to develop the skills that you will use in college and in the working world. As you go forward in these important years, you should change your study habits and skills.
Improve note-taking skills. To some degree, high school will bring a new challenge for students who learned to rely on textbooks during junior school. 2 This means students must learn to take notes with careful attention — or the information will be lost! The key to taking good notes is identifying the most important things to write down.
3 One skill that doesn’t get so much attention is the ability to really listen! In order to take good class notes, you need to listen carefully in class and mark each word that is repeated. Once you learn to become an active listener, you will be able to study much better.
Get ready for class discussions. As you are preparing for the next day, write down anything that might be worth a good discussion. 4 When classroom discussions do arise, you should record important points on different opinions. This is the sort of thing that will pay off on your test.
Get more organized. In junior school you learned to use many folders, and you met different teaching styles. This continues in high school; you will have to become more organized and take on much more responsibility when it comes to keeping track of homework. 5
A. Learn how to listen better.
B. Be prepared to discuss further.
C. Think about what to note down.
D. Remember to increase your test prepare time.
E. In fact, high school sets the stage for college and adulthood.
F. It’s important to keep checklists to complete all of your homework.
G. In high school, teachers will introduce some new ideas beyond textbooks.
