"I'm not good at adding. I don't know how to regroup or borrow. I'm not good at subtracting (减法). Or I don’ t know my facts yet, and I’ m a fifth-grader, "Mayfield’ s students used to tell him. The 42-year-old maths teacher from Fort Worth, Texas, knew it was important to try something new, especially because most of his students were also struggling outside of the classroom. “Single parent homes, parents put in prison, low financial stability-a lot of misfortunes that were going on, " he said.
To reach students in a way that was familiar and inviting, he brought rap music to the classroom. Mayfield played an instrumental beat to a rap song. He got his students excited. “I can recall myself at home doing homework and just singing the song in my head, helping me understand, ” Morehouse said. “It was really a great way to help me make it through maths. ”

As environmental awareness has risen in the world, attitudes to sightseeing have changed. It is exciting to visit remote forests or spot rare species in those mysterious countries. However, with flights or long road journeys involved, traveling to far-away destinations is carbon-intensive, and conservation can be made more difficult as well as assisted by sightseers. Therefore, people and authorities have been trying to maximize the benefits while minimizing the harms by advocating domestic tours.
Most people, who take most holidays, understand better than ever that there are costs as well as benefits associated with exploring. One of the six pledges made by an environmental campaign launched last month-The Jump, is to “holiday local”, taking short-distance flights once every three years and long-distance flights very rarely. On a higher level, some governments are working on this as well. Colombia, for example, recently introduced laws aimed at promoting sustainable tourism.
Fortunately, the UK's national parks and countless other landscapes mean that there is no shortage of special places for domestic nature tourists to visit. One recent survey found that Windsor Great Park and Kew Gardens have become Britain's most popular attractions, while in this special time there have difficulties for indoor spaces which do not apply to outdoor ones. Some companies that formerly ran foreign trips have adapted to the infectious disease by taking people to watch dolphins and other marine life off British coasts instead. This is not to minimize the destruction of nature that is also taking place, But as we lace an increasing environmental emergency, it is essential to appreciate the nature that surrounds us. In a small way, outings to watch dragonflies, seals, or be surrounded by trees could help us to focus on what matters.
8. Why have people changed their attitudes towards travel?
A. Visiting remote areas is too exciting.
B. Long-distance travels are more attractive.
C. People's environmental awareness has improved.
D. Travelers can assist with protection of scenic spots.
9. What does the underlined word “pledges" in paragraph 2 mean?
A. Commitments.
B. Prohibitions.
C. Symbols.
D. Surveys.
10. What can we learn from paragraph 3?
A. Indoor activities are becoming more popular.
B. People in the UK are carrying out the initiative.
C. The travel agencies prefer overseas business.
D. The UK lacks abundant historic attractions.
11. Which of the following does the author probably support?
A. Domestic traveling means no harm to the environment.
B. There is no point in traveling to remote scenic spots.
C. The scenery is much better in foreign countries.
D. It matters much to appreciate the beauty around us.

Creative visualization is the process of generating visual mental imagery, with eyes open or closed. It means creating an image to your subconscious (潜意识的)mind.
Your subconscious mind creates your reality based on a number of messages you send to it. One of these messages is the pictures and images that you visualize and send to your subconscious mind. It then picks up this creative visualization or picture and begins creating what it sees.
The key to understanding how creative visualization works is to first understand that your subconscious mind does not know what is real and what is fiction. It simply creates your reality based on the image that you visualize. So if you visualize yourself struggling, poor, unhappy, single or depressed then this is the reality that your subconscious mind creates.
Visualizing properly and regularly can and will change your life. Some of the greatest athletes including Michael Jordan will tell you that they often visualize before playing. They create a movie of success in their minds before actually competing. Some of the most successful people will tell you that they always see their success ahead of time. Creative visualization is even being used to help patients with chronic(慢性的)illnesses fight their diseases. But just like positive thinking or any other technique-on its own, creative visualization cannot create a complete change. It will have an impact but it won't create all the changes you want in a short period of time. Besides, it is not just creating a movie in your mind on a regular basis. There is much more to it and you need to develop a certain technique in order to enjoy the full benefits.
Do you want to begin visualizing so you can create the things you want in life? Then sign up for the 7-day e-course and get the full benefits. You'll learn how to work with visualization and all the techniques that will create a lot of success.
12. How does our subconscious mind work?
A. By taking pictures in reality.
B. By creating the wildest dreams.
C. By picking up visions in nature.
D. By processing the information it receives.
13. What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about?
A. The key to success.
B. The introduction to Jordan.
C. The benefits of visualization.
D. The achievements of great athletes.
14. What might the author agree with concerning visualization's effect on chronic illnesses?
A. It calls for special skills.
B. It creates a complete change.
C. It has an immediate effect.
D. It depends on regular practice.
15. What is the author's purpose in writing the text?
A. To offer a novel treatment.
B. To attract readers to a course.
C. To explain a complex theory.
D. To introduce a research result.

Kelsey Golden works in media marketing for a school and usually takes her 5-year-old son, Barrett, around the neighborhood. All too often, they offer help to people in need and the boy becomes increasingly caring and sympathetic, especially to the homeless.
On a rainy Monday morning, Golden was working on the school's annual yearbook on her computer at home. She was transferring photos from her phone to her computer when Barrett started browsing(浏览)her phone.
The boy loves the camera feature on her phone. He likes to look at his reflection, instead of playing games or engaging in other activities on her phone. But this time, Barrett didn't just stare at his reflection. He started pressing the screen, swinging it around like his arm is a roller coaster.
He even mentioned seeing his favorite chain restaurant’ s mascots (吉祥物)online, which was really unexpected.
Then, Golden received a message that her take-away food order was taking longer than usual-which was unusual, because although she sometimes ordered the food for her two older children's lunches at school, that morning she had packed their lunches. The teacher furthered the confusion when she told Golden that her children were indeed eating their packed lunches at school-no take-away food in sight.
Golden's confusion was deepened when she was playing with Barrett at the gate. But in that moment, a car pulled in. Golden felt more confused-the delivery driver got out a huge chain restaurant's bag which had 31 cheeseburgers!
At first, Golden thought the delivery driver was at the wrong house. Then it occurred to her that Barrett had played her phone that morning, leaving her phone unlocked, so she went back and looked at the phone, only to find an order was placed at that time that he was playing with it. “That's crazy!. He really did this. ”

1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

She turned her head to Barrett questioningly." Why did you order so many cheeseburgers? You know, no one in our family likes them," she asked patiently." I did this. I want to feed the homeless,” Barrett said, with reluctance, How heart-warming! Golden didn't blame him. Instead, she gave him a bear hug, and then they started to deliver the food immediately to the people in need in their community. While watching Barrett handing out the cheeseburgers in the rain happily, Golden was so touched by the scene that she shot a picture of it and shared it online. The picture of Barrett handing out cheeseburgers spread widely. Many people shared the post and even more joined in to offer help to the homeless. The community was more harmonious than ever. Amazingly, on Friday. Barrett and his mother were invited to the chain restaurant, where Barrett took some photos of his favorite mascots, full of excitement. The son and his mother were quite surprised at the outcome. The mother hoped that her son's order could help brighten people's days, and determined to spread the chain of love even more.
