(2021春·江苏南京·七年级统考期中)A few weeks ago, I went into Chase’s class for help. I e-mailed Chase’s teacher one evening and said, “My son keeps telling me that the thing you’re sending home is Maths —but I’m not sure whether I should believe him. Help, please.” She e-mailed right back and said, “Surely! I can help Chase after school anytime.” And I said, “No, not him. Me. He gets it. Help me.”
And that’s why I stayed with Chase’s Maths teacher. We talked about teaching children. We agreed that subjects like Maths and reading are not the most important things that are learned in a classroom. We also talked about something else—kindness and bravery.
And then she told me this. Every Friday afternoon Chase’s teacher asks her students to take out a piece of paper and write down the names of four children with whom they would like to sit the following week. She also asks the students to recommend one student who they think is the most popular student that week. They needn’t write down their names on the paper.
After the students go home, she takes out those pieces of paper, and studies them. In fact, Chase’s teacher is not looking for a new seating chart (表) or “popular students”. She is looking for lonely (孤独的) children. She’s looking for the ones who are not willing to talk with others. She is finding out whose gifts (天赋) are not noticed by their classmates. Then she gets to know who needs help.

Why is work good for health? It is because work keeps people busy away from being sad. Studies show that people feel unhappy, worried and lonely when they have nothing to do. (2021春·江苏南京·七年级南京航空航天大学附属初级中学校联考期中)Taking public transportation in the United States, you can often see people reading books on their way to school or work. But in China, I rarely see people reading during their free time.
Are people’s attitudes toward reading different here? Not really. Data (数据) released by Amazon China in December 2017 show that Chinese people still read a lot. They simply prefer e-books to regular books.
However, other data show that reading is still more popular in the US than in China. Is there a reason for this difference? I’m not sure. What I do know is that China has a rich history of literature. From classic novels like Romance of the Three Kingdoms (《三国演义》) to the modern science-fiction epic The Three-body Problem (《三体》), Chinese authors have created many fantastic written works.
Perhaps the difference starts from childhood. Reading textbooks and doing homework can make you feel quite tired. By the time you finish it, you might not feel like reading for fun. Chinese students definitely (肯定) have to read more and do more homework that US students. So it’s no wonder that they might not want to read much in their spare time.
But learning to love reading can be great. Reading can open doors to places, people and ideas that you cannot imagine. Even just a single book has the power to change your own personal beliefs and attitudes.
Where will your next book take you?
47.According to Paragraph 1, What do we know about people in the US?
A.Many of them have the habit of reading.
B.Most people take public transportation to work.

D.They read books that are left behind on public transportation.

A.Chinese people never read in their spare time.
B.Chinese people prefer e-books to regular books now.
C.Chinese people’s attitudes toward reading have changed a lot.
D.Chinese people love buying more books from the online bookshops.
49.The author believes that reading is less popular in China because ________.
A.it’s hard to choose what to read
B.Chinese people prefer to read textbooks
C.peoples childhood experiences may influence their reading habits

50.Which of the following is the best title?

(2021春·江苏·七年级校考期中)Often, there are noisy (吵闹的) neighbors where many people live close together. And this can be more of a problem when you share walls, floors or ceilings with neighbors in a flat. A noisy neighbor can make life difficult, especially if noise (噪音) goes well into night, or happens during early morning hours. How can we well deal with (处理) the problem? Just try the steps below.
You should first try to tell your noisy neighbors about the noise. When doing so, you should be polite, even friendly. You can begin like this, “I am not sure whether you know or not.” Then tell the neighbors the problem in an honest way, and ask them to turn down the music, or not to hold parties until 3 a.m. At the end, you can say that you know they hear your noise too, and that you will take care with your behavior (行为) to make as little noise as possible.
You should know that not all neighbors are going to follow your requirement (要求), and some may act in a bad manner. If the noisy neighbors don’t change their behavior, the next step should be to write the neighbors a letter. The letter should show your grievances (不满) and the dates when the noise was quite terrible. For example, if your neighbor has noisy parties every Friday night that go on into the early morning then write down those dates.
If the noise keeps going on, you should report it to local authorities (权力部门), or even the police station.
Remember that you cannot always require noisy neighbors to be quiet. If you have finished the steps and letter but the noise keeps going on, don’t start hitting walls in your home or turning up the music to make your neighbors angry. Just have patience and remember that communication is the most important.
54.According to the writer, which of the following is NOT true?
A.Being polite and friendly may help when dealing with the problem.
B.Saying you yourself will make little noise may help when dealing with the problem.
C.Writing down the noisy dates in the letter may help when dealing with the problem.

They are studying the relationship between the amount(数量)of food the mice eat and their health. The mice are in three groups. All three groups get the same healthy food. The first group is eating one cup of food each day, the second group is eating two cups, and the third group is eating three cups.

(2021春·江苏盐城·七年级统考期中)Almost every Chinese person can recite(背诵) the two lines of the famous poem, “Every grain on the plate comes from hard work.” But sadly, many of us don’t get the real meaning of these lines: Don’t waste(浪费) food.
A CCTV program reported that the food Chinese people throw away every year is enough to feed 200 million people for a year. Do we have too much food? Of course not. According to(根据) the UN World Food Program, there were 925 million hungry people around the world in 2015, especially (尤其) in developing(发展中的) countries. Six million children die of(死于) hunger every year.
Chinese people are well-known for being friendly and generous(慷慨的). Many even feel that they will lose face if their guests have eaten all the food on the table. Luckily, a number of people have realized (意识到) the importance of saving food. What should we do in our daily lives to waste less food?
1 Don’t order too much in a restaurant. Only order as much as you want to eat. If you can’t eat all the food you ordered, take the rest of it home.
2 Don’t leave any food in your bowls, while having meals.
