探究点二：Language points

1. How much time do you spend on your homework every day?

spend /spend/ v. 花( 时间或金钱)

spend...on 意为“在……方面花(时间或金钱)”，该短语的主语为人，后跟名词。

spend...(in)doing sth.意为“花费(时间或金钱)做某事”。

e.g.

I                        two hours on my homework.

Most of her life was spent in                      for others.

besides /bɪ'saɪdz/ prep. 除……以外( 还)

e.g.

What other sports do you play                     hockey?

除了玩曲棍球你还做哪些运动？

辨析：besides, except, except for 与but

besides “除……以外（还）”，包括所除事物在内。

except “除了”，表示从整体中除去，不包括所除事物在内。

except for “除了”，指与基本情况不同的例外。

but  “除了”，常用在no, none, all, nobody, everything, everyone 等后。

e.g.

What other languages do you know                     English?

除了英语之外，你还懂什么语言？

have difficulties in sth. 在……方面有困难

have difficulty (in) doing sth.=have trouble (in) doing sth.

such /sʌtʃ/ adj. 如此的；非常的；这样的

辨析：such 与so

such  修饰名词或名词词组，既可以接可数名词，也可以接不可数名词。such＋a/an＋adj. ＋n. (可数名词单数)，such ＋adj. ＋n. ( 可数名词复数/ 不可数名词)。

so  修饰形容词与副词。so＋adj. ＋a/an＋n. (可数名词单数)，so ＋adj./adv. 。

e.g.

你怎么会犯这样的错误？

它是一本如此有趣的书。

【拓展】

若名词前有many, much, little, few 等表示数量多少的词修饰时，前面用so，不用such。

e.g.

He has                   many books.

他有如此多的书。

drop in  “顺便拜访”是不及物动词短语，其后不能接宾语。

e.g.
