Unit 5 What were you doing when the rainstorm came?第五课时（教学设计）教学目标1.语言能力：(1) 能够认读、理解并运用：passage, pupil, completely, shocked, in silence, recently, take down, terrorist, date, tower，truth, in history, the rest of 等单词和词组。(2) 能够熟练掌握用when,while引导时间状语从句来表达过去的时间，并且熟练运用所学单词和句型来讨论过去的事情。2.文化意识：通过学习美国历史上马丁路德金遇害和911世贸大厦恐袭两件重大事件，同时谈论了两名亲历者的经历和感受，引导学生关注人类面临的全球性挑战，激发自身作为世界公民的忧患意识和责任意识，同时培养学生崇尚自由民主、热爱和平的意识。3.思维品质：培养阅读理解的逻辑性，进而增强阅读分析能力。由书本对美国历史的重大事件的了解延伸到现在发生在中国的重大事件的介绍，培养发散性思维和创造性思维。学习能力：有意识地运用知识迁移策略来完成小组活动——介绍近两年发生在中国令自己印象最深的重大事件，并且描述当时自己在干什么以及感受如何。教学重点与难点重点：能理解用过去进行时态所表达的语句的含义，能看懂课文中两大历史事件的内容及人们的感受，能通过快速阅读、精读策略获得相关信息。难点能够总结出本文所用到的阅读方法和技巧，学会描述事件以及表达感受。教学准备教具准备: ppt，教材，阅读材料教学过程老师活动学生活动设计意图  Lead-in(3minutes) Show Ss some pictures and ask them to talk about the important events in Chinese history. Then show Ss more pictures and ask them to talk about things that happened recently.Watch the pictures and talk about the important events in Chinese history.    Talk about things that happened recently.  观看中国历史上重大事件的图片，引发学生讨论和思考。     再给学生展示一些近期发生的事件图片，引导学生讨论当时自己的活动及心情，以导入本堂课的话题。Pre-reading (2minutes) Predict by the picture and title. Look at the picture and title,then finish the task.阅读前，引导学生读标题，观察插图来激发学生的阅读兴趣。 While-reading (20minutes) 1.Read the passage quickly and find out how many paragraphs are there in this passage.2.Lead Ss to read the passage and match the main idea with each paragraph.1.Find out how many paragraphs are there in this passage.2.Read the passage and match the main idea with each paragraph. 利用插图和标题预测文章的内容，运用略读技巧，找出每一段的主旨大意,引导学生在读的过程中注意标题、图片和每段的第一句话。3.Then divide the passage into two parts.  4.Part1 Event about Martin Luther King’s death（1）Read and find the details and important information(2)Underline sentences from the passage with similar meanings to the ones below.  5.Show Ss a video and know more about Martin Luther King.         3.Divide the passage into two parts according to the events.    4.Finish the tasks. （1）Read the first part and fill in the chart.     (2) Finish the task.        5.Watch a video and learn more about Martin Luther King. 根据事件内容将文章分为两个部分，理清文章脉络。      通过填写表格，引导学生抓细节信息，同时总结出可以运用5个wh问句和一个how问句来描述事件。通过阅读，了解马丁路德金事件的缘由和影响。阅读完事件之后，再找出文章当中的同义句。    通过观看视频，让学生了解关于马丁路德金的更多信息，观看马丁路德金“I have a dream”的视频,从中获取他的正义力量，感受他的为国为民的大爱情怀，既为学生更好地理解课文内容作铺垫，也培养了学生的文化意识和渗透了正确的价值观。6.Part 2:Event about the World Trade Center（1）Read and find the details and important information（2）Underline sentences from the passage with similar meanings to the ones below.  Watch a video and know more about the World Trade Center. 8.2C Read the passage again.
