The marathon runner, born in 1984 in Kenya, has succeeded in running a 42 - kilometer marathon in under two hours, which was considered physically impossible. He made the breakthrough in 2019. Now he has won the most male World Marathon Major races, nine in total.
Kipchoge loved running during his childhood. He ran to school, covering 3.2 km every day. Kipchoge also cycled to the local market, taking several gallons of milk that his family would sell. When he was a teenager, thanks to his neighbor and former Olympic athlete, Sang, Kipchoge took on professional(专业的)running. Sang became his coach and lifelong friend. With the help of Sang, Kipchoge’s training became more and more effective.
Kipchoge has talent. But he is also a “true believer” fighting against himself, always ready to push his own limits. In 2016, at the Rio Olympics, Kipchoge won the gold medal for the marathon with a time of 2:08:44. Only two years later, in 2018, he finished the Berlin Marathon in a time of 2:01:39. The result was not just the fastest Berlin marathon run in history, but also the fastest marathon ever run at the time.
Still, Kipchoge didn’t stop. He believed he could go on challenging where no other human had succeeded. At the age of 35, with good preparations, he finished the race in 1:59:40.20, breaking the two -hour limit. He set the new record and proved to the world that no human is limited.
Though Kipchoge has won so much, he didn’t stop running. In 2021, he won the gold medal for Tokyo Olympics male marathon with a time of 2:08:38 and in 2022, the Berlin Marathon 2:01:09.
Apart from his talent as well as working hard, his shoes are also helpful during his running. It is a pair of special ones with a special kind of foam(海绵式橡胶). They can take in runners’ energy when their feet touch the ground and then return part of the energy to the runners, which helps Kipchoge run faster.
Nothing is impossible. Kipchoge proves that the saying is true.
    4. What helped Kipchoge start professional training?
    A. He got support from his family.
    B. He ran 3.2 km to school every day.
    C. He became the student of an Olympic athlete.
    D. He went cycling to the local market to sell milk.
    5. Why did the writer mention the shoes in Para. 6?
    A. To show science technology helps sports.

    C. To explain energy can stay in the shoes for a long time.
    D. To recommend more marathon runners buy this kind of shoes.
    6. Which can best describe Kipchoge?

根据第二段“When he was a teenager, thanks to his neighbor and former Olympic athlete, Sang, Kipchoge took on professional(专业的)running. Sang became his coach and lifelong friend. With the help of Sang, Kipchoge’s training became more and more effective(在他十几岁的时候,多亏了他的邻居、前奥运会运动员Sang,Kipchoge开始了专业跑步。Sang成了他的教练和一生的朋友。在Sang的帮助下,Kipchoge的训练变得越来越有效)”可知,邻居Sang是前奥运选手,多亏了Sang,Kipchoge才开始了专业训练。他成了奥运运动员的学生。故选C。

    2. 推理判断题。根据第六段“Apart from his talent as well as working hard, his shoes are also helpful during his running. It is a pair of special ones with a special kind of foam(海绵式橡胶). They can take in runners’ energy when their feet touch the ground and then return part of the energy to the runners, which helps Kipchoge run faster.(除了他的天赋和努力,他的鞋子在他跑步时也很有帮助。这是一双有特制海绵式橡胶的特殊的鞋子。当跑步者的脚接触地面时,它们可以吸收跑步者的能量,然后将一部分能量返还给跑步者,这有助于Kipchoge跑得更快。)”可知,作者在这一段讲述了一种助理跑步的高科技的鞋子,因此推断提到鞋子的目的是说明“科技助力体育”。故选A。
根据第三段首句“Kipchoge has talent.”、第四段首句“Still, Kipchoge didn’t stop.”和第五段首句“Though Kipchoge has won so much, he didn’t stop running.(虽然基Kinpchoge赢得了这么多,但他并没有停止跑步)”可知,Kipchoge是有天赋并勤奋的。故选D。
根据第一段的“The marathon runner, born in 1984 in Kenya, has succeeded in running a 42 - kilometer marathon in under two hours, which was considered physically impossible. (这位1984年出生于肯尼亚的马拉松运动员,在不到2小时的时间里成功跑完了42公里的马拉松,这在体力上被认为是不可能的。)”全文内容可知,文章主要介绍了长跑运动员Kipchoze在马拉松项目中,不断突破自我,挑战极限的故事。所以此文本和“运动”相关。故选A。
    C
Most of us travel with our parents as children and teenagers. For some of us, during the travel, our parents are our inspiration. These trips are normally full of rental cars, beaches, and hamburgers. My family would go to Galiano island every summer, and we did a week in Mexico in 1995, and then we did two different trips to Anaheim to experience the magic of Disney, Universal, and Knott’s Berry Farm.
But all of these are childhood experiences and memories. I didn’t really truly travel with my parents until I was an adult when I got the chance to travel with mom and dad.
I was in New Zealand for a study abroad, and invited my parents to come down for a 2-week road trip around the North Island and then 10 days in Fiji. Why not? They said, as if this was something they were invited to do every day. I didn’t really plan anything, but my mom had done some reading and I knew some highlights after living in New Zealand for 5 months.
I had booked a hotel for their first night in Auckland. The only other preparation I had done was to book a rental car. My parents immediately reached an agreement that I should be the driver, for the whole two weeks. The main reason for this, understandably, was that neither of them had ever been in a country where you drive on the left hand side of the road and on the right hand side of the car. This led to me driving my parents around the entire North Island of New Zealand for 2 weeks! But still, everybody had jobs. Dad had the maps, and mom had the guidebook, and I just took them where they told me to go.
Sometimes, I was asked who I was traveling with. When I said “my parents”, the response was, “Ohhh, older people.” Actually, I have some tips on travelling with parents happily.
    8. Which can replace the underlined word “inspiration” in Para. 1?
    A. Cooks. B. Guides. C. Drivers. D. Translators.
    9. Why did the parents let the writer drive the car in New Zealand?
    A. They were not used to the driving rules.
    B. They were afraid of the mountain roads.
    C. They were too old to drive for a long time.
    D. They were not familiar with the brand of the car.
    10. What is the best title of the text?
    A. Drive on the Way. B. Travel with Parents.
    C. Enjoy New Zealand. D. Recall the Childhood.
    11. What will the writer share next?
    A. The argument with parents. B. The memory in Fiji as a child.
    C. The scenery during the road trip. D. The advice on outing with parents.
B 9. A 10. B 11. D
根据第一段划线词inspiration的下文“These trips are normally full of rental cars, beaches. and hamburgers.”
根据第四段“The main reason for this, understandably, was that neither of them had ever been in a country where you drive on the left hand side of the road and on the right hand side of the car”(这一点的主要原因是,他们两人都不习惯驾驶座位在汽车右侧,并且汽车上路靠左行驶的交通规则,这一点是可以理解的)可知,父母二人都不习惯驾驶座位在汽车右侧,并且汽车上路靠左行驶的交通规则。故选A。
根据文章最后一句“Actually, I have some tips on travelling with parents happily.”(事实上,我有一些和父母一起快乐旅行的小贴士。)
    D
Scientists have discovered that chimps(黑猩猩)talk to each other by drumming on trees with their hands and feet. It is a way of sending long-distance messages. Each male chimp has its own way of drum beats, to which they add spoken noises to show who is where and what they are doing. The chimps only seem to use their own beats when they are travelling. It may explain why chimps don’t say goodbye to each other because they can keep in touch with each other when they’re away.
We believe chimps like communicating with each other very much. So do the chimps in the zoo. They are happy to communicate with visitors every day. However, during the lockdown(封闭)time, the chimps are upset because of no visitors coming.
A new study has found that some chimps were quieter and lazier than usual during the lockdown months. The study took place in Knowsley Safari Park(野生动物园)in England. It compared the chimps’ behavior during periods of lockdown in 2020 and 2021—when the zoo was closed and they were not being observed by humans—with how they acted after zoo visitors returned.
When the zoo was closed, some chimps spent more time alone and moved about less. When the sites reopened and visitors returned, they spent less time resting and ate more and explored more. In Knowsley, they were eager to get close to visitors’ cars more often.
The researchers say that they can’t tell for sure whether the lockdown was good or bad for the chimps they had studied. When visitors returned, chimps spent less time alone, which could be seen as positive. However, their less resting could also be seen as negative, because it could mean that human visitors interrupted their rest time, which may harm chimps’ health.
    12. What is the purpose of the chimps’ way of drum beats?
    A. To play music. B. To scare visitors.
    C. To attract scientists. D. To have communication.
    13. What effects did the lockdown have on chimps according to the study?
    A. The chimps became less active. B. The chimps put on more weight.
    C. The chimps enjoyed their loneliness. D. The chimps communicated quite often.
    14. How were the chimps when the Zoo was reopened?
    A. Lazy. B. Quiet. C. Excited. D. Lonely.
    15. In which way did the researchers get the study result?
    A. By listing numbers. B. By comparing facts.
    C. By giving examples. D. By interviewing visitors.
D 13. A 14. C 15. B
根据第一段“Scientists have discovered that chimps(黑猩猩)talk to each other by drumming on trees with their hands and feet. It is a way of sending long-distance messages.”(科学家们发现黑猩猩通过用手和脚在树上敲鼓来互相交谈。
根据第三段“A new study has found that some chimps were quieter and lazier than usual during the lockdown months.”( 一项新的研究发现,在封锁期间,一些黑猩猩比平时更安静、更懒)和第四段“When the zoo was closed, some chimps spent more time alone and moved about less.”( 当动物园关闭时,一些黑猩猩独处的时间更长,活动更少)可知,封闭期间,黑猩猩们独处的时间多了,来回走动少了,变得更安静,更懒惰,即不活跃了。故选A。
根据第四段“When the sites reopened and visitors returned. they spent less time resting and ate more and explored more. In Knowsley, they were eager to get close to visitors’ cars more often.”(动物园再次开门时,游客的到来让黑猩猩们睡得少了,但是吃得多了,更爱探索,也更爱靠近游客的汽车了)可知,动物园重新开放后黑猩猩们变得活跃、兴奋起来。
根据第三段“The study took place in Knowsley Safari Park(野生动物园)in England. It compared the chimps’ behavior during periods of lockdown in 2020 and 2021—when the zoo was closed and they were not being observed by humans—with how they acted after zoo visitors returned”(这项研究在英国的诺斯利野生动物园进行。

The skies were dark. Rain fell in big drops. Thunder and lightning flashed across the skies. I shivered with cold and fear as I walked through the streams of muddy water. Some people were rushing by, completely wet in the heavy rain.
Along the way, I saw some schoolchildren carrying their heavy schoolbags and rushing home. I also saw that some road repair work had been abandoned by workers. Obviously, the workers had left in a hurry because of the storm. There were few signs and it was hard to see what was on the road. There were pieces of wood and slabs of metal and it looked like a hole had been dug and hurriedly covered with planks.
I moved on but suddenly stopped as I heard some sounds. It sounded like children crying. I quickly turned back and went back to the place from where the sounds came. I was horrified! To my shock, I found that two small children, about eight years old, had fallen into the gaping hole on the road. The children were so scared that their faces were pale, crying for help. They were running back home when suddenly the planks moved away with the force of the rushing water. They fell into the hole by accident. I could barely see the children, as it was dark all around me. I got down and tried to reach them with one of my hands, but it was too deep to reach them. I comforted the children with words and told them that I was going to get help.
I was not sure of what to do or where to go but decided to go to the nearest house for help. I knew the man, Mr. Lee, who lived there. He was a kind-hearted man who was always ready to help others. I decided to turn to him for help. It was the only way that I could think of.
    注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
    2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
I knocked at the door and told Mr. Lee about the problem.
    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The parents of the children who had just arrived from work were totally shocked to hear of what had happened.
    ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 1:
I knocked at the door and told Mr. Lee about the problem. He readily said that he would get a torch and some rope. He also called his wife to come along with him. A few other neighbors also quickly joined the rescue party and together went to the road. They managed to get the children out of the watery hole safely. The children were very scared and they shivered with cold, crying for their moms. Immediately, we asked for their parents’ phone numbers and told them the incident.
    Paragraph 2:
The parents of the children who had just arrived from work were totally shocked to hear of what had happened. They were very grateful to the neighbors who had helped to rescue the children and thanked them sincerely. The children hugged their parents tightly, with their eyes closed. I was very happy that I had been part of this act of neighborliness. It was a wonderful moment, one I will never forget. We should show respect to the neighbors since they had helped people in need without thinking twice. I went home with a good feeling.
