过去进行时
一、过去进行时的构成
过去进行时由“be 动词的过去式 was / were + 现在分词”构成。主语是第一人称和第三人称单数时用 was，其他都用 were。

四、过去进行时的句型结构
【例如】：
肯定句：My brther was playing ftball at this time yesterday. 否定句：My brther wasn’t playing ftball at this time yesterday.一般疑问句： Was yur brther playing ftball at this time yesterday?肯定回答：Yes, he was.否定回答： N, he wasn’t.
五、when 和 while 的区分
when 和 while 都可以引导时间状语从句，表示“当时候”，但是二者之间又有区别，具
体如下：
when 引导的时间状语从句中的动词可以是终止性动词，也可以是延续性动词，而 while
从句中的动词必须是延续性动词。
when 说明从句动作可以和主句动作同时发生，也可先后发生；而 while 强调主句动作在从句动作发生的过程中同时发生。
【例如】：It began t rain while we were walking in the park.
我们在公园里散步时，天开始下雨了。
I was sleeping when my mm came in. 我妈妈进来的时候我正在睡觉。
肯定句
主语 + was / were + 现在分词 + 其他.
否定句
主语 + was / were + nt + 现在分词 + 其他.
一般疑问句
Was / Were + 主语 + 现在分词 + 其他？
肯定回答
Yes, 主语 + was / were.
否定回答
N, 主语 + wasn’t / weren’t.
when 和while 引导的时间状语从句可以相互转换，但是 while 引导的句子中常用进行时态。
【例如】：He was reading a newspaper when the earthquake happened.
= While he was reading a newspaper, the earthquake happened.
地震发生的时候，他正在看报纸。
while 还可做并列连词，意为“而；却”，表示“对比关系”，有转折之意。
【例如】：One f the twins likes reading bks, while the ther likes ding sprts.
这对双胞胎中一个喜欢看书，而另一个喜欢做运动。
【典例】：() (2015. 四川中考) — What were yu ding when I phned yu yesterday evening?
I was ding hmewrk while my parents dinner, grandma.

六、过去进行时与一般过去时的区分

Mike read a bk last night. 迈克昨晚看了一本书。（书已经看完）
过去进行时和一般过去时都可以表示过去某段时间内发生的动作或情况，但过去进行时通常侧重于动作的持续；而一般过去时则只说明过去发生了某事的事实。
【例如】：I was sleeping the whle day yesterday. 我昨天一整天都在睡觉。
I went t bed at 11 last night. 我昨天晚上 11 点睡的。
