Jared felt nervous as he looked over the cliff (峭壁). The ground seemed to be a long way down. His camp coach, Andrea, smiled up at him. She gave Jared a thumbs - up (翘拇指) . However, Jared still wasn't sure if he could make it.

The traditional Chinese lunar calendar (农历) divides the year into 24 solar terms(节气) . Winter Solstice (冬至), or Dongzhi, is the 22nd of the 24 solar terms in the Chinese lunar calendar.   34   People in different parts of China have different customs on this day.
