In China, school safety education is becoming more and more important now. The last Monday in March, which is called Safety Education Day, is for students to learn it at school. It helps students learn more about what they should do to keep themselves safe. What are the accidents at school? Take a look.
Stampedes, earthquakes and fires are the main accidents at school. A stampede is a situation in which a group of people suddenly start running in the same direction, especially because they are frightened or excited. An earthquake is a sudden shaking of the earth's surface. A fire is usually out of control and destroy buildings. These three kinds of accidents are always the most terrible ones at school.
A stampede always happens in crowded places. When students around you begin to push, just stand there and try to hold onto Something. If you fall down in the crowd, move to one side and protect your head with your hands around.
When earthquakes happen, you can get under a desk quickly and hold on. It'll protect you from falling things. If you are outdoors, find a place away from buildings, trees and power lines.
When there's a fire, leave the classroom quickly. It's better to put something wet over your mouth and nose. In this way, you won't breathe in smoke. Many people die in a fire, not because of the fire but smoke. It makes them cough and they can't breathe. That's very dangerous! So when you want to get out, you should make yourself close to the floor. Then you can breathe some fresh air.

“You know,” Dad said as they drove, “being a firefighter isn’t all about putting out fires. We do a lot of other things, too. And being ready is almost half the job.”
Suddenly, his father received a message and he changed the driving direction immediately. Charlie’s heart was beating heavily when they were driving to a house fast. “Well, how about that? ” Dad placed a blue siren (警报) on the car and made a right turn.
“Are we going back to the station?” Charlie asked. “Not enough time.” Dad answered. Then they reached the house where one of the fire trucks was already parked. “Where is the fire?” Charlie asked, “No fire,” Dad said, “It’s a medical call.Stay here.” Dad jumped out of the car. “I’ll be back to check on you soon.”
Charlie watched as his dad and several other firefighters took tools and disappeared into the house. After 10 more minutes, Dad returned to the car. An older woman walked with him. “I’m really thankful that you got here so quickly.” the woman said. “You saved my husband’s life!” His dad was right—being ready was important.

Have you ever stopped to take a look at some of the amazing things we all sometimes take for granted? They’re usual and we even don’t notice them. Like hands, for example. People can use hands to do thousands of jobs without even noticing that hands are working.
Think about it. If we didn’t have hands, we would never have been able to build the world we live in today. Here are some amazing facts about the hands. There are no muscles(肌肉) in your fingers. The muscles are in your arms. Your fingers have tendons(肌腱). Tendons, like our brains, actually control the fingers’ movements. There are 48 nerves(神经) in your hands. Nerves send messages to the brain when something is wrong. So if you lose a few nerves, your hands won’t receive all the messages from your brain.
In your brain, there is an area that controls all the movements in the body. (We can call this area S.) About one quarter of this part of the brain is used just to control the movements of the hands. (We can call this area L.)
So, take a look at your hands. They are amazing tools. Be careful with them because they get hurt easily. Be good to your hands, and they’ll serve you for the whole life.

A month before my first marathon (马拉松), one of my ankles (脚踝) was hurt and this meant not running for two weeks, leaving me only two weeks to train. Yet, I decided to go ahead.
I remember back to my 7th year in school. After my first PE class, the teacher told me that was “not athletic (运动型的)”. The idea that I was “not athletic” troubled me for years. When I started running at the age of 30, I realized running was a fight against myself, not about competition or whether or not I was athletic. It was all about the fight against my own body and mind.
The night before my marathon, I dreamed that I couldn’t even find the finish line. I woke up, being helpless and nervous but ready to prove something to myself. Finally, my marathon began. Shortly after crossing the start line, my shoe lace (鞋带) became untied. So I stopped to tie it. Not the start I wanted! I was left behind others. At mile (英里) 3, I passed a sign: “GO FOR IT, RUNNERS!” By mile 17, I became out of breath and the once-hurt-ankle hurt badly, but I still stayed, walking a bit and then running again. As I came near to mile 23, I could see my wife waving a sign. She is my biggest fan. She never minded the alarm clock sounding at 4 a.m. or questioned my cost on running.
I was one of the final runners to finish. But I finished! And I got a medal. In fact, I got the same medal as the one that the person who came in first place had. I can now call myself a “marathon winner”.

When you think of robots, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Do you think of science fiction movies like Star Wars, where robots of all shapes and sizes are part of daily life? The word “robot” itself comes from a play written in 1920 by Karel Capek. In the play, people create robots to do some everyday tasks.
Today, most robots don’t look like humans. Modern robots take many forms and are good at many things, from sweeping the floors in your home to working in factories. They even explore the moon and help scientists learn more about the moon. But there is an interesting irony (讽刺) in the world of robots which describes a surprising problem: What humans find easy is really difficult for a robot. Another example is the game of chess. People might find it difficult to win the game of chess all the time. But robots like Alpha-Go can be programmed to play it very well.
This is because robots are very good at doing things in controlled environments. However moving through a room filled with different things is hard for robots, along with picking up things of different shapes and sizes without breaking them. In short, it is very difficult for them to deal with different kinds of things.
It turns out that one of the most difficult things to improve in robots is their ability to control things. Luckily, great progress is being made in the development of robots. Soon, robots may be able to do those things that humans find simple. Robots might make movies come true in the future.
41.The underlined word “explore” in the passage means “________” in Chinese.

44.We can learn from the passage that ________.

B.robots can cause more problems for people
C.robots can hardly help people until they look like humans
45.The passage is mainly about ________.
A.the science fiction movies Star Wars
B.some information about robots
C.how robots help sweep floors at home
D

____47____You should not play your music so loud that everyone around you can hear it. Some people might even get angry. ____48____ Therefore, even if you are alone when listening to your music, you shouldn't have it turned up too high.
____49____ Sometimes it's OK just to take out only one earphone (耳机) and not the other. Imagine you are listening to music when someone asks you the way. It would be fine to take out one earphone, tell him the way, and put back the earphone and continue listening. You can also do this when you order food at a fast-food restaurant.
____50____ There are many times when you need to decide what is best. For example some people can listen to music when reading books, while others think it is wrong. In cases like this, you need to do what seems right for you. It's up to you to decide whether to listen to music when reading.
