    Period 3 Discovering Useful Structures 教学设计                                       

    教材分析

    该板块的活动主题是谈论你的未来计划Talk about your future plans。在旅行话题中,人们除了会谈到去过的地方和感受以外,还会谈到旅行的计划和打算,这时常常会用到表达将来计划的语言结构,所以本单元将现在进行时表将来计划的用法与旅行主题有机结合。现在进行时表将来的主要功能是表达已经计划好的安排,如:I’ve sent the invitations to my friend. We’re having a party next weekend.

    教学目标 

    1. 学生通过观察、分析与归纳,掌握现在进行时表将来的用法。
    2. 能够区分现在进行时(be doing)和 be going to do以及will do表将来动作的异同。
    3. 能够运用现在进行表示将来与同伴讨论周末计划。

    教学重难点

    【教学重点】

    通过观察、分析与归纳,掌握现在进行时表将来的用法,并运用这一表达与同伴讨论周末计划。

    【教学难点】

    区分现在进行时(be doing)和 be going to do以及will do表将来动作的异同。

    教学过程

    Task Talk about your future plans

    Step 1 Warming-up

    Revision: read the following sentences and think about what the tense in the sentences expresses.

    1. Now it is the summer vacation and I’m helping my dad on the farm.

    2. I’m sitting on a rock near the river with my friends.

    3. He is always talking big.

    4. You are always leaving things about.

    设计意图:复习现在进行时表示正在进行的动作和个人喜恶的用法。

    Step 2 Presentation

    Work on Activity 1. Look at the sentences. What do you think the tense in the sentences expresses?

    (1)  I’m travelling around Europe for two weeks with my aunt and uncle.

    (2)  We’re renting a car and driving!

    (3)  My parents are taking me to Hong Kong during the October holiday.

    设计意图:引导学生总结现在进行时的用法,除了表示正在发生的动作以外,还可以用于表示将来的计划。

    Step 3 Exploration

    1. Work on Activity 2. Read the conversation and underline verbs in the present continuous tense. Discuss with a partner when and how these verbs are used.

    Amy: Hello, Jeremy! What are you doing this weekend?

    Jeremy: Hi, Amy! Some friends and I are going to that new water park on Saturday. Do you want to join us?

    Amy: Sure, I’d love to! What time and where?

    Jeremy: We’re meeting at 10:00a.m. at the bus stop near our school.

    Amy: How about lunch? Are you eating at the water park?

    Jeremy: Well, I’m bringing my own lunch. I think some of the others are eating at the park, but the food there is really expensive.

    1. Work on Activity 3. Read the sentences and tick those that express future plans. Rewrite them in the present continuous tense.

    (1) ______ I’ve just booked my air ticket! I’ll visit my grandparents in December.

    (2) ______ Gray might visit China next year, but he’s still not sure.

    (3) ______ Kate has been invited to a meeting in Iceland. She will apply for a visa soon.

    (4) ______ Could you help me with this box, please? I am afraid I’m going to drop it.

    (5) ______ A: Hey, are you free for dinner tonight?

             B: I’m sorry, no. I’ll have dinner with my cousins tonight.

    1. Rewrite the sentences in the present continuous tense.

    (1)  I’ve just booked my air ticket! I’ll visit my grandparents in December.

    (2)  Kate has been invited to a meeting in Iceland. She will apply for a visa soon.

    (3)  A: Hey, are you free for dinner tonight?

        B: I’m sorry, no. I’ll have dinner with my cousins tonight.

    1. Thinking. Why sentence 2 and sentence 4 cannot be written in the present continuous tense ?
    2. Work on Activity 3 in workbook. Decide whether will do or the present continuous tense is better and fill in the blanks.

    (1)  I ________________(always, love) you.

    (2)  My parents and I _________(visit) the Architecture Museum this weekend.

    (3)  I think you ___________ (find) this guidebook useful.

    (4)  We___________ (take) a trip to Hubei next month to see my grandmother.

    (5)  _________________(you, contact) the travel agent this Friday?

    (6)  If you ask him, I’m sure he ___________(give) you a ride to the airport.

    设计意图:学生通过自己归纳总结现在进行表示将来的用法,以及如何区分它和will do, be going to do表将来的异同。

    Step 4 Practice

    1. Exercise 1. Combine the words and phrases to make sentences using the present continuous tense.

    1. Exercise 2. Fill in the blanks.

    1. Betty ___________(leave) for Guangzhou by plane at 3:00 this afternoon. Her brother Bob ________ (see) her off. It’s half past one now. They ________ (wait) for a taxi outside the school gate.

    2. The Browns __________(go) to North China by train next week. They _________ (stay) in Beijing for a week. Then they ________(go) to Xi’an and they ___________(get) there by air.

    3. Exercise 3. Translate the following sentences into English.

    (1) 我下个月要去美国。

    (2) 我姑姑在信上说她后天到我们家。

    (3) 我这周末将和朋友去远足。

    (4) 玛丽和我下个星期天去钓鱼。

    4. Work on Activity 4. Discuss weekend plans with a partner, based on the weather report below.

    Example:

    A: What are you doing on Saturday morning?

    B: Well, it’s going to be sunny in the morning and not very windy, so I’m having a picnic with my friends.

    Requirements: every part of each day (morning, afternoon, evening) is filled with activity.

    Step 5 Assignment

    Finish exercise 1, 4 on page 79.
