一、教学分析
(一)教学内容分析
本单元围绕“传说和故事”这个话题谈论过去发生的事情,重点训练“讲故事”这个语言功能项目。通过学习使学生掌握如何用过去时态讲述一个故事,描述古老的传说和有趣的故事,激发和培养学生学习英语的兴趣,理解并体会传说和故事的教育意义。本节课是本单元的第四课时,以戏剧的形式讲述了糖果屋的故事,同时借此进行了相应的阅读训练。
(二)学生分析
八年级的学生经过一年多系统的英语学习,具备了一定的基础听说能力,同时,读写能力正逐步提高。通过一年多新课程理念的熏陶,学生初步具备了自主合作,分析归纳的能力。部分学生对英语有一定的兴趣。但是由于知识的安排由浅入深,随着教学内容的难度加大。有少数学生对英语产生了抵触心理,而本课正是学生非常喜欢的话题。教学过程中要充分激发学生的兴趣,让学生能够从时间,人物,地点以及事件等方面描述英文故事。
(三)教学目标
知识目标
- 能熟练掌握重点单词和短语:stepmother, wife, husband, scene, moonlight, bright, lead, voice, brave.
- 了解和学习英文戏剧的要素。
能力目标
- 锻炼阅读能力和技巧以及熟练运用英语的能力
- 了解戏剧剧情及人物性格并能够生动演绎。
情感目标
- 学习Hansel的优良品质,遇到困难要勇敢坚强,善于动脑筋。
- 了解中西方文化知识的差异。
(四)教学重点和难点
重点:1. 了解play的要素(旁白、场景、角色、对话、旁白);
- 阅读短文,获得相关信息,提高学生的综合阅读能力;
- 通过了解故事梗概(故事背景、Hansel的两次计划、父母的两次计划)这个句子不通顺
难点:
1. 运用动词的过去式
2. 运用连词
3. 通过对话分析人物性格,通过语言及表演展示人物形象
二、 教学过程
I. Pre-reading
Lead-in.
Show some pictures of the characters in this unit and two fairy tales.
What are these two fairy tales? Which book are they from?
Purpose: The picture can remind students of the stories they have
learned in the unit, meanwhile, it can attract students’ attention and arouse students’ interests of this lesson.
Prediction: Who,Where, What, Why?
Purpose:It prepares students for the subsequent reading activities.
II. While-reading
Fast reading
Look through the passage quickly
1.What kind of text is it? Why do you think so?
2 How many characters are there in the play? Who are they?
Read the passage quickly
- Match each description below with the correct scene.
- How many times do they go to the forest? Which scenes are about the first and the second time?
Purpose: To help the students to know the text type of the passage, the elements of a play, and practice the ability of reading quickly to get the main idea of each part quickly .
Careful Reading
★Read paragraph1 and answer the questions.
- Where did they live?
- How was the weather that year?
- What did the wife tell her husband to do?
- Why did she ask him to do that?
They are going to the forest for the first time, what will happen?
Purpose: By answering these four questions, students will have a better understanding of the background of this story.
★Read scene1-3 carefully and answer.
- What does Hansel go out to do?
- How do Hansel and Gretel find their way home?
- Why does Hansel drop stones along the way?
When Hansel knows their parents are going to kill them, is he afraid?
What do you think of him?
(spirits: clever, brave and calm)
Does Hansel’s plan work? Do they go back home? Let’s read scene four.
★Read scene4
- Answer:What’s their stepmother’s new order ?
- Listen and imitate.
- Read with full emotion.
Purpose: By listening to the tape and read with feelings, students will practicing their skills of listening and reading. It can also help them to understand the personalities of characters better, which paves the way for acting the play out.
★Read scene5-7 and answer the questions.
- What’s Hansel's second plan?
- Why do Hansel and Gretel get lost the second time?
- What happens when they walk in the forest?
Hansel and Gretel are really lost, is he afraid this time? How do you know it?

III. Post Reading
- Choose your favorite scenes and act them out!
You can choose(scene1-4)or(scene5-7+the last paragraph)

- Write an ending and act it out in your groups!
Purpose: By acting out the play and write an ending for it, students will have a deeper understanding of the passage, they can also practice their writing skills and stimulate their imaginary ability at the same time.
Moral education:What have you learned from the characters in Unit6?
I hope all of you can learn from them, when you are in trouble, try to be calm, brave, and optimistic to your life.
Homework
1. Polish your ending of the play and write it down.
2. Read the whole Hansel and Gretel and try to retell the story to your group members.
