After sitting in the leather seat, I pushed the starting lever and looked around. Then my eyes settled on the clock. It was 2 (believable)! Just now, it was a minute or so past ten; now it was nearly half past three! I pushed the lever further. Night 3 (fall) as if a lamp was being turned out, and in another moment came the day. I found it hard to explain the strange and unpleasant feeling of time travelling. I was stunned for a moment and then I found myself 10 (sit) in the rain next to the machine. 三、 阅读理解AIt can be a real struggle to try to learn a new language. I had always enjoyed learning languages in school, but only recently did I start learning German. I found that I could understand and learn individual words easily, but when it came to literature, I really struggled. That was when my tutor at university suggested reading some children's books printed in the target language(目标语言).At first, I felt it a bit silly to go on a hunt for a book designed for someone half my age, but then I realized that everyone has to start somewhere. As children, we were given these basic texts to familiarize our brains with certain vocabulary and writing structures, and from there, we could learn and develop. I started with books which are taught to children in the UK. I managed to find OliverTwist by Charles Dickens and JamesandtheGiantPeach by Roald Dahl. The beauty of reading books that were introduced to you as a child is that you are already familiar with the plot. As a result, you can work out some of the definitions of words with your prior knowledge of the story. At first, I used to read with the book in one hand and a dictionary in the other, but this method did not work well for me. The method I would recommend is to read a chapter of your chosen children's book and at the end of that chapter, highlight the words you do not know and then look up the definitions. If you can wait a bit before you use a dictionary, you may be surprised what youcan get merely from the context of the sentence in the story. Additionally, a lot of children's books have pictures which may give you a clue as to what or whom the passage is referring to.1.Why was the author advised to read children's books?A. She liked children's literature.B. She was slow to learn languages.C. She couldn't remember any words.D. She was weak in reading great works in German.2.What can kids get from children's books according to the passage?A. Design skills.                    B. Learning methods.C. Words and writing structures.       D. Vocabulary and listening skills.3.What caused the author to feel surprised while she was reading children's books?A. Getting familiar with the plot of the story.B. Grasping the context from the pictures.C. Understanding the words simply from the context.D. Looking up the definitions of words from a dictionary.4.What can be the best title of the passage?A. Reading Children's Books          B. My Good Reading HabitsC. The Ways of Learning Languages    D. The Method of Using a DictionaryBTo tackle the problem of microplastics polluting waterways, chemists in the Czech Republic are thinking small. Their brainchild is new microrobots which are no bigger than the tip of a sharpened pencil. When sunlight reaches them, they produce chemical reactions that push them through water in a specific direction. When they find a piece of plastic, they stick to it and start to break it down.Chemist Martin Pumera at the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague led the project. A decade ago, he chose to focus on the problem posed by microplastics. They're everywhere — from the bottom of the ocean to air blowing onto ice atop mountains. They've turned up in drinking water. Some studies estimate that billions of plastics end up in the world's waters. The plastics have many sources, from shopping bags to washing and cleaning wipes. In lab experiments, the star-shaped swimmers stuck to each of four different types of plastics. And after being exposed to light for a week, the robots reduced the weight of the plastics. It wasn't much — only by 3 percent. But that was an indication that they were breaking the plastics down. They also caused the surface of the plastics to change from smooth to rough. That was another sign that the robots were degrading(分解) them. The new study is a proof of concept type. It shows something can be done successfully. In fact, Pumera says they still have a long way to go. There are many types of plastics. And even these microrobots are unlikely to succeed in degrading them all. The researchers also have not yet shown how safe this system is for the environment, although Pumera says that's their next goal. The first real-world test will be in a wastewater treatment plant. "Indeed," says one researcher, "we'll need a lot of testing to show that they're safe in open waterways, such as at sea."5.The microrobots are powered by . A. water B. sunlightC. plastics D. pencils6.What does the author focus on in Paragraph 2?A. The purpose of Pumera's project.B. The preciousness of drinking water.C. The seriousness of microplastic pollution.D. The working principle of the microrobots.7.What shows the effectiveness of the microrobots in lab experiments?A. The weight loss of the plastics.B. The disappearance of the plastics.C. The shape change of the microrobots.D. The improvement in the purity of water.8.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text?A. Ways to Obtain Cleaner Drinking WaterB. Microrobots Invented to Treat WastewaterC. New Hope for the Solution to Microplastic PollutionD.
