Secretly, she brught bks hme every night,filling her car late after wrk②. Her friends came t help her when the war brke ut. Anis wh wned a restaurant agreed t hide sme bks. All thrugh the night, Alia,Anis,his brthers and neighburs tk the bks frm the library,passed them ver the seven-ft wall and hid them in the restaurant. The bks stayed hidden as the war cntinued. Then nine days later,a fire burned the library t the grund.
    One day,the bmbing stpped and the sldiers left. But the war was nt ver yet. Alia knew that if the bks were t be safe,they must be mved again while the city was quiet. S she hired a truck t bring all the bks t the huses f friends in the suburbs.Nw Alia waited fr the war t end and dreamed f peace and a new library.
