The day before we met, Juliette Binoche was in the French Alps. Today, she's sitting in her room in Berlin's Hotel Marriott. " We arrived last night at 12," she says, casually brushing off her tight schedule. It's been this way for four decades now, ever since she became a real hit at the Cannes Film Festival as a 21-year-old , starring in 1985's Rendez-vous. The film was well received and "La Binochas" the French call her , was born.
Almost immediately, people were deeply attracted by this charming young lady." After Rendez-vous, when I started, somebody asked me about doing an autobiography of my life… when I was 21 !" she reveals, quite shocked at this absurd(荒唐的)idea." Some people actually thought about it."
Instead, Binoche concentrated on a constant rise through the ranks of world cinema. Rather than addicted to the fame and wealth brought by Hollywood, Binoche simply continued working with celebrated filmmakers from-around the globe, developing a reputation as a risk-taker. "For me, the risk is to repeat myself or get into a comfort zone that is not opening my horizons(视野)." she says.
Now 58, there isn't much this extraordinary artist hasn't done. On stage, she starred with Akram Khan at London's National Theatre in dance piece In-i. "When you're not a dancer , then you see that you need courage, you need trust and you need magic that is inside you that is going to take place,"she says. She also sang in the show It's Almost Nothing and would love to film a musical. Which one? "I would never answer that," she smiles. "A film is a connection of different people." In other words, about creative magic.

"You should get a cat," my therapist(治疗专家)said. "A cat?" I couldn't even look after myself. . . I took a deep breath and carefully considered the idea of welcoming a feline (猫科的)friend into my life. This seemed like too easy a fix for the fact that I couldn't leave the house without bursting into tears.
When my partner and I found Cinnamon, her adoption profile made her out as the perfect kitten. We filled out the paperwork and prepared for her arrival.
When she came home, it became increasingly obvious that Cinnamon didn't understand "no", "stop it" or "don't do that". She was the worst cat I've ever owned. I was beginning to doubt my therapist's advice.
After visiting our vet, she concluded that Cinnamon just wanted our attention. She fought tooth and nail to get a bite of our meals. She'd fearlessly lick sharp knives when left unattended for a split second. Cinnamon stole my heart with her bravery and kept me busier than I'd ever expected.
We decided to start taking her for walks. I could barely leave the house before, but my heart couldn't say no to Cinnamon. Cinnamon showed me what bravery looked like. She didn't stop to consider every possible outcome of a situation; she simply went for it. If there was a dog at a park, she would run toward it. She jumped without knowing where she would land. She loved adventure. I found myself mirroring her behavior after a while, jumping out of bed without a second thought. I began to find the motivation to get out of bed in the morning.
Cinnamon unfortunately passed away after a medical accident. I'm no stranger to sadness or grief, but losing my pet so suddenly was the most confusing emotional experience I've had to date. She no longer wakes me up at 5 am begging for breakfast, but she's still the reason I get up every morning.
Our time is often cut unpredictably, unmistakably short. It would be a shame to live life being anything less than brave and adventurous.
28.Why did the author's therapist recommend that she get a cat?
A.To learn how to interact with animals.
B.To help the author fill up her spare time;
C.To solve the author's fear of going out.
D.To distract the author's attention from her pain.
29.How did the author feel at first after Cinnamon came home?
A.Thrilled. B.Amazed. C.Pleased. D.Disappointed.
30.What can be inferred from the text?
A.Walking Cinnamon outdoors became an adventure for the author.
B.The author was positively affected by Cinnamon's courageous behavior.
C.Cinnamon loved going outside and took consequences into consideration.
D.The author decided to take Cinnamon outside as she was too troublesome to stay in.
31.What did the author want to convey in this text?
A.Life is short and unpredictable.
B.The loss of a pet can be painful.
C.We should have the courage to take risks.
D.Animal-assisted therapy is the best cure for mental illness.
D
Billionaire Sir Christopher Hohn expects the greatest"demand disruption (中断)" for oil since the 1970s shock to cause an increase in renewable energy investment.
He said high oil prices are "a positive thing" for the climate as the energy crisis results in a "dramatic speed-up" in decarbonisation (碳减排)."The whole world should now be focused on seeking alternatives, whether they're renewable or hydrogen(氢) fuels. All of these things are far more economic."
He pointed to the recent boost of EU (欧盟) for renewable energy funding, as part of a plan to reduce imports of gas. Even as oil and gas companies obtain record profits from the high prices at present, Hohn said climate-focused investors will ultimately benefit from the energy price shock.
"The oil price increase leads to plans for accelerated decarbonisation," said Hohn. "I personally believe that we'll have demand disruption as we had in the 70s, and that there will be a dramatic acceleration in decarbonisation. I actually view it as a positive thing."
Hohn has pressured companies to give shareholders a vote on their climate plans. Spanish airport operator Aena and aircraft manufacturer Airbus improved their emissions targets as a result. Hohn has also pushed for stricter regulation on corporate climate promises. "Corporate decarbonisation isn't going to happen through voluntary methods," Hohn said.
Hohn is also backing a new rating agency that will grade company emissions strategies, through his charity, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation. The Climate Action-plan Rating Centre (Climate-Arc) will analyse public company data and publish climate plan ratings.
Investors often struggle to analyse corporate climate plans. "Because though some organizations declare their commitment to environmental protection, they actually do the opposite," Hohn said, "I expect a large proportion of companies will get graded F if they're not doing enough. Even companies with net zero emissions targets have failed to set out plans about how to reach those goals. The impact is going to be a bit like, 'the emperor has no clothes'."
32.Why are high oil prices a positive thing according to Hohn?
A.They will reduce energy demand.
B.They will bring economic benefits.
C.There will be a shift to clean energy.
D.There will be a reduction in energy imports.
33.What does Hohn argue for in paragraph 5?
A.Climate regulation should be stricter.
B.Decarbonisation should be voluntary.
C.Emissions targets should be debated.
D.Climate plans should be informed to the public.
34.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.The method of avoiding being graded F.
B.The suggestion about helping investors.
C.The method of reaching zero emissions targets.
D.The suggestion about reducing carbon emissions.
35.Which would be the best title for the text?
A.Energy crisis—a hard nut
B.Energy crisis—a wake up call
C.Energy crisis—a cruel circle
D.Energy crisis—a cause of economic depression

Plan accordingly, and then plan again. When you're out in the middle of nowhere, you have to be equipped to nature's challenges. ____37____ Therefore, a plan for unexpected weather changes is essential to a successful camping trip. For example, consider packing extra suppliers like blankets. While that might seem like a huge inconvenience, the biggest and real issue occurs when you need something you don't have.
Know what you need. ____38__ Not all beginner campers will need the top-of-the-line, latest supplies. But you should have at least the basics! You'd better create a convenient checklist that lays out everything that you should consider.
____39____ When you're far away from the major conveniences we rely upon like an urgent care center, police stations, and emergency rooms, you should always remember that safety is your first priority(优选)! ____40____ A first aid kit is a great starting point, but it's certainly not the end of maximizing your safety efforts. Depending on where you plan to camp, you'll want to grab these items that cover you in most emergency situations: a pocket knife, a fire starter, and a safety whistle.
Ready to go camping? Now you know what to expect and how to prepare for your next camping trip, so you actually have fun—rain or shine!
A.Always choose a safe campsite.
B.Never leave home without safety in mind.
C.We encourage you to create a safety supply kit.
D.Camping doesn't have to be complicated or expensive.
E.A clear 3-day forecast can easily shift into a sudden heavy rain.
F.To maximize your comfort, always bring appropriate clothes for cold and rain.

As a young boy, I was carefree. Every vacation I looked forward to two things—seeing my grandpa and hearing his wonderful stories. My grandpa was a very good storyteller. He had worked various odd jobs when he was young and wove his adventures and misadventures into fantastic tales. These wonderful tales colored my childhood.
As I grew up, I had to admit that Grandpa's stories went on a little long, even a little boring and gradually lost their magic. However, not wanting to upset him, my brother and I would sometimes take turns sitting in the living room, listening to grandpa tell his stories.
When my grandpa was approaching 91, he suffered from serious memory-loss. It was kind of what doctors called dementia (痴呆), probably the earliest stage of Alzheimer's disease. Following the doctor's directions, we moved him into a Sunrise Assisted Living Community, where he could get a better care. After that, grandpa hardly came to our house.
One weekend before my grandpa's birthday, I came to visit him. Seeing grandpa sitting in his armchair, dull-looking, I was consumed with mixed feelings. I wheeled grandpa to the sunshine in the courtyard, talking to him. He couldn't express himself clearly and spoke in short bursts, but I listened to him patiently and carefully just as I used to be a little boy.
It was then that I noticed a shadow box with some old and yellowish photos in it. I picked one up, in which my brother, several boys in our neighborhood, and I were playing basketball with grandpa cheering us on twenty years before. My mind flashed back to those beautiful memories. Back then, Grandpa was in good physical condition and we were all wearing basketball jerseys, playing and laughing with abandon. I presented the photo to my grandpa, pointing at each member and reminding him of their names. Incredibly, grandpa could speak out the name of every player. I even caught a soft light in grandpa's eyes and a smile on his lips.

Protecting Our Blue Planet
Good morning, everyone! It is such a privilege to stand here to share with you my perspectives on the ocean. As the cradle of life, oceans nurture thousands of creatures and provide us with abundant seafood and energy. However, the ocean is facing threats.
Definitely, pollution is the one that threatens the ocean most. For decades the ocean has been used as a receptacle for industrial toxins. Plus, overfishing has posed a threat to the fragile biosphere of the ocean.
To tackle the crisis, joint efforts from all countries are needed, from establishing related policies to promoting people’s awareness. Besides, we students can do our part by reducing disposable plastics, which are a great contributing factor to the degradation of the ocean.
In conclusion, for a sustainable future, we should care for the ocean. Together we can make a difference. Thank you.
读后续写:
A bright idea for grandpa’s birthday came to my mind. “Why not give grandpa a surprise?” I said to myself. I immediately got down to carrying out my plan. Luckily, I contacted all the players in the photo. To my great delight, they were greatly touched by the plan and all agreed to join in. To make the scene real, I even managed to find all the basketball jerseys, equipment and arrange for a similar-looking basketball court. The big day finally came. After wheeling my grandpa to the court, we began the special game. While playing, I kept an eye on grandpa, waiting for something deep down.
Seeing “the same players” playing there, grandpa seemed to have thought of something. Glancing at grandpa again, I found him cheering us on just like 20 years before. Sitting in the warm sunlight, he cheered and clapped, with a bigger smile. For a while, my mind seemed to flash back to those beautiful days. Indeed, my plan somewhat worked. I was overjoyed that I could do something to delight Grandpa, an important person in my 1ife. I was not sure whether this birthday would stick in his mind, but one thing was certain: it’d definitely stick in mine.

W: Oh, that's my favorite class. Mr. Jones is always passing out candy if you know the answers to his questions. Dad, can I go now?
M: Well, but you need to come straight home from the movie.
Text 10
W: Ladies and gentlemen,
It gives me a great pleasure to be invited here to make a speech. Education is very important in my heart. I grew up in a small village in China. In those days, sixty percent of the villagers couldn't read and of them women accounted for over a half. So my father opened a night school to teach them how to read. With his help many people learned to read newspapers for the first time.
As his daughter, I know what education means to the people, especially those without it. After generations of hard work, China has come a long way in education. I myself benefit a lot from that progress. Otherwise I would never have become a singer and a professor of music.
Many years ago my father made a small difference in his village. Together we can make a big difference. I was once asked about my Chinese dream. I said I hope all children especially girls can have access to good education.
Thank you very much.
