Can you imagine being at school and home at the same time? What about you thinking of a sentence, and your friend knows it just by a feeling?
These may sound crazy in real life. But in the microworld (微观世界) of quantum physics (量子物理), they could all be possible! This year’s Nobel Prize in physics was given to three quantum physicists. They are Alain Aspect from France, John Clauser from the US and Anton Zeilinger from Austria. They did a great job studying quantum entanglement (量子纠缠), which paves the way for new technologies such as quantum computers and quantum communication.
What is quantum entanglement? When two particles (粒子) are entangled, everything about them – from their speed to the way they move – is perfectly connected. If you know the state of one particle, then you know the state of the other, even when the two particles are very far apart.
Thanks to the winning scientists’ finding of this secret, quantum entanglement has now been used in some cutting-edge (尖端的) technologies. For example, it can provide completely safe encryption (加密) in communication. Here’s how it works: changing one entangled particle affects another. So anyone trying to peek at secret quantum information would break the particles’ entanglement. That means nobody can spy (窥探) on a quantum message without getting caught.
Another use is called “quantum teleportation (量子传输)”. This isn’t the same as people showing up from one place to another like in science fiction. But it can send information from one place to another in the quantum state. It’s faster and safer than the traditional way of technology.
Quantum computers are another example. Normal computers process data using ones and zeroes. Quantum computers would use bits of information that are both one and zero. Such computers could run calculations (计算) that no normal computer can.
26.Why does the writer ask two questions at the very beginning of the passage?
    A. To draw the readers’ attention to the topic.
    B. To show the situation in the future.
    C. To ask the readers to think the questions carefully.
    27. What do we know about this year’s Nobel Prize in physics?
    A. It was given to three US physicists.
    B. It honored the invention of a super quantum computer.
    C. It honored the studying of quantum entanglement.
    28. What is clear in the event of quantum entanglement?
    A. Particles look exactly the same.
    B. Everything about two particles is connected.
    C. Particles can’t stay far apart.
    29. Using quantum entanglement in cutting-edge technologies can _____.
    a. better protect secrets
    b. help recognize spies
    c. help send messages faster and safer
    d. slow down technological achievements
    e. help with calculations on quantum computers
    A. abc          B. bcd          C. ace
    30. What is NOT included in the story about quantum entanglement?
    A. What it is. B. Its usage in scientific fields. C. When it was first found.

At my primary school, I was one of the smartest kids there. I never studied, but always got perfect scores. I was also a prodigy in music according to myself. I could sing better than almost everyone else in my school. I was pretty sure that once I got to sixth grade, everyone would be surprised by me.
    But actually, they weren’t.
When I arrived at my new class, I couldn’t wait to show everyone what I could do. However, there was always someone else who could do them better. My grades began to suffer. More talented(有天资的)girls often sang solo(独唱). I believed I wasn’t smart. I believed I wasn’t talented. I believed I was a failure.

This year, the “Village Basketball Association (Village BA)” at Taipan village in Guizhou has made a splash
The final game of the Guizhou country basketball league (联赛), known as “Village BA”, took place on March 27 and Team Qiandongnan won the Championship Cup. The players were all amateurs (业余选手) and mostly farmers from local villages and nearby cities.
Apart from the exciting matches on the court (球场), the most eye-catching spaces in Taipan were courtside (场边).More than 30,000 people from across the country poured into the tiny village, which has a population of about 1,200. A single spot was hard to get.
“Many people even wear adult diapers (成人纸尿片) so they can sit for hours in the stands. Ladders were also sold out that day,” Wu Xiaolong, a 31-year-old local man, told Teens.
In 2022, some videos of locals playing basketball in Taipan went viral on social media. This year, the first edition of the Village BA finals was staged in Taipan, which is an important event for grassroots (草根) Chinese hoops.
Since 2016, the local government has worked hard to build new standard basketball courts to support basketball development.
Zeng Jinlong, a 17-year-old villager, has been watching the games since he was 6 years old. Over the years, “the courts have become standard as backboards (篮板) have turned from wood into glass and the floor material from cement (水泥) to rubber (橡胶),” he told Teens.
Taipan has now become a model place of rural vitalization (乡村振兴) driven by sports and tourism. In the summer of 2022, around 500,000 visitors came to the village to watch the preliminary rounds (预赛) of the “Village BA”, which brought tourism revenue (收入) of more than 40 million yuan, reported Xinhua.
The event has also encouraged more people to take part in sports. Now as a point guard in the local youth basketball team, Zeng said he dreams of taking part in the “Village BA” final himself one day.
    41. Who are the competitors in “Village BA”?
They are mostly farmers from local villages and nearby cities.
    42. What are the prizes for the game winners?

根据“his neck was much shorter than the others”可知,这是Alex发现的事实,故选B。
根据“But his mother told him that he was special. She said it did not matter how short or long his neck was”可知,Alex的妈妈说他是特别的,脖子长短并没有什么关系,这是安慰他,所以这里说明Alex很担心。故选C。
根据“his neck was much shorter than the others”可知,Alex的脖子比别人的更短。故选C。
根据“But as his friends grew taller and taller, his neck...short.” 故选A。
looked after照顾;fell behind落后;laughed at嘲笑;heard of听说。根据下句话but his parents told him not to worry. They said that he should be happy with himself the way he was.
根据“But as his friends grew taller and taller, his neck...short.”
after在……之后;until直到;because因为;before在……之前。根据“Would he have to leave the zoo just...he didn’t have a long neck?”
根据“Alex was the only giraffe that could fit through it.”
根据“They looked happy to see something so special at the zoo”可知,游客们在动物园里看到了很特别的东西,他们很开心,选项中A选项与happy意思相近,所以应该是“兴奋地尖叫”。故选A。
