教学目标与核心素养：

知识目标：

(1) Accumulate and use vocabularies such as avatar, image, digital identities, personalities, Internet users, instant message, virtual worlds and so on;

(2) Be able to describe the advantages and disadvantages of virtual images

能力目标：

(1)students can summarize the main information about virtual images and the key information of each paragraph by skimming and scanning.

(2) Students can summarize the original text by using key information and key words.

情感目标：

(1)Students can think individually and learn cooperatively.

(2) Students think dialectically about network security.

教学重点：

The historical development process from the rise of virtual image to its wide use reveals the hidden personality or characteristics behind people's choices of virtual images;

教学难点：

Write the summary according to the article.

教具：多媒体，黑板，粉笔

教学过程：

Step I Warm-up

Activity 1:  use three pictures to lead in the word “ avatars”.

Activity 2：ask students to communicate their avatars, using the following word phrases and sentence pattern.

Let students discuss and describe their avatars.

Step II Before - reading

Prediction:

You are going to read an article about avatars. What would you like to learn from it? Write down your questions in the diagram.

Step III While - reading

Activity 1

Read for general understanding of each paragraph.

    Para 1: Definition

Para 2: History

Paras 3-5: Purposes of using avatars

Para 6: Views

Activity 2

1）Read the paragraph 1 and complete the blank.

Definition:

 A digital image that represents an Internet user.

2）Read the paragraph 2 and complete the blank.

3)Read the paragraph 3-5 and complete the blanks

4)Read the paragraph 6 and complete the blanks
