In many parts of the world, many students help their schools make less pollution. They join environment clubs. In an environment club, people work together to keep the environment clean.
Here are the things students often do.
Save the water! Do you know that some toilets can waste twenty to forty tons of water an hour? In a year, that would fill a small river. In environment clubs, students repair those broken toilets.
No-car day. On a no-car day, nobody comes to school in a car, neither the students nor the teachers. Cars will cause air pollution. So remember: walk, jump, bike or run. Use your legs! There’s lots of fun!
No-garbage(fit) lunches. How much litter do you throw away after lunch? Environment clubs ask students to bring their lunches in bags that can be used again. Every week they will choose the classes that make the least garbage to report to the whole school!

Believe it or not, soon computers and other machines will be able to remember you by looking at your eyes! The programme (程序) works because everyone’s eyes are different. So in the future you won’t have to remember any numbers when you want to use a machine or take money out of a bank. You’ll just look at the machine and it will be able to tell that it’s you.
In some shops and banks in the USA, Britain, Spain, Italy and Turkey, people have tested this kind of eye-recognition (眼睛识别) programme already. Soon, this technology may take the place of all other ways of finding out who people are.
Scientists are working on other systems, too. Machines will soon be able to know you from the shape of your hand or even your smell. We already have machines that can tell who you are from your voice or the mark made by your fingers.
Eye-recognition is better than other kinds because your eyes don’t change as you get older, or get dirty like hands or fingers. And even twins have different eyes, so the programme can be up to 94% correct. However, some other programmes may only be 51% correct now. In Britain, 91% people say that they like the idea of eye-recognition.
In the future your computer will be looking at you in the eye. So smile!
52.What’s the main idea of the first paragraph?
A.Computers and machines can remember you by your voice.
B.Computers and machines are able to remember you by your eyes already.
C.You can take money out of a bank by telling some numbers.
D.Computers and machines will be able to remember you by your eyes.
53.How does the eye-recognition programme work?
A.You look at the machine and type a number.
B.You need to speak and then look.
C.The machine looks at your eyes.
D.The machine looks at your face.
54.Which recognition programmes are already in use?
A.Remembering fingerprints (指纹) and voice. B.Remembering eyes and smell.
C.Remembering hands and voices. D.Remembering hands and face.
55.Which of the following is TRUE?
A.Eyes can get dirty. B.Eyes can change with time.
C.Machines will know you by smell. D.Some people’s eyes are the same.

People develop solar panels (太阳能板) to take energy from the sun and turn it into electricity. Over the past ten years, the price of solar panels has gone down greatly. In many parts of the world, solar energy is now the cheapest form of electricity. More and more people have started using solar energy to power their homes.
However, solar panels also have their problems. They stop working at night and on rainy days. Is it possible to make them produce electricity all the time?
Scientists at Suzhou University have invented a new solar panel now. It can produce electricity not only from solar energy but also from falling rain. When a raindrop falls on the solar panel and then rolls (滚动) down, it creates friction (摩擦力) on the surface of the panel, which can then be turned into electricity.
Sun Baoquan is one of the inventors, “Our new invention can produce electricity in any weather during the day,” he says. “It can even provide electricity at night if there is rain.”
The field of solar energy is developing fast. Scientists have made some improvement on solar panels. Some have been working on ways to join solar panels and wind power together. Some have been trying to use sunlight to produce liquid and gas fuels .
