Every New Year, many people make promises to themselves, only to see them fall by the wayside within a few months, weeks, or even days. However, 26-year-old Luke Cameron is not among those people. After losing a close friend known for her generosity(慷慨) to cancer in 2013, the young man decided to do at least one good deed every day for 365 days and he has not missed one yet.
Cameron performed his first good deed on January 1st, 2014, with the simple act of greeting a waitress at a cafe he visited. The next day he bought food and drinks for some homeless people. Cameron’s good small deeds have been recorded in an online diary, like taking out the garbage for an elderly neighbor or spending a few hours helping a disabled lady pick out a dress for a party. What’s more, the young man has also spent close to £4000 of his own money, buying gifts for children in need.
Cameron has created a series of some cards, which he has called “Cards for Kindness”. Each card suggests a simple act of kindness—things like giving a stranger a hug or making peace with an enemy, which is to encourage others to perform good deeds.
Cameron’s generosity has not gone unnoticed. To reward the young man as he nears the end of his journey, pizza chain Domino’s recently awarded him a year’s supply of free pizza. Not surprisingly, the big-hearted young man has decided to use the gift to hold special pizza days for charity. His kind deeds have also won him a competition for the job of “National Philanthropy(慈善事业) Manager”.

As travelers eagerly return to the sky after years of staying closer to home during COVID-19, they're facing flight delays, cancellations(取消) and long lines at airports around the world, mainly because of staff shortages. Now, one American airline is hoping technology will help deal with the mess. Alaska Airlines will begin allowing customers to attach electronic tags(标签) to their suitcases in hopes of speeding up the airport check-in process and freeing up workers' time for other tasks.
With the new tags, travelers won't have to wait in line to print baggage tags at the airport. Instead, they'll be able to attach the tag to their baggage at home, and then activate(激活) it up to24 hours before going away through the airline's mobile app. They need to touch the phone to the tag. Once activated, the tag uses e-paper technology to display the guest's flight information and a bar code(条形码) on its small screen. The bag's owner will then be able to leave it at a marked self-drop location at the airport. The equipment does not contain batteries and gets a small amount of energy from the phone used to activate it.
Alaska Airlines expects the electronic tags to cut the time travelers spend dropping off their checked bags by 40 percent. "With the new device, the entire check-in process should only take a few minutes. The electronic tags should also help shorten lines at the airport," Charu Jain, an Alaska Airlines' manager, says.
Alaska Airlines will firstly provide free tags for about 2,500 frequent fliers, and then the company will make the tags available to all of its loyalty program members in early 2023. The airline does not share the price of the tags; however, they're listed as starting at around $72 on Bag tag's website. Alaska Airlines' workers have put the tags to the test. They stood up well to wear and tear(磨损), and airline officials say they could last a lifetime.
12、What is Paragraph 1 mainly about?
A. The situation of American airlines.
B. The check-in process at American airports.
C. The influence of COVID-19 on Alaska airlines.
D. New tags to help solve problems at Alaska airlines.
13、How does Charu Jain feel about the electronic tags?
A. They can keep suitcases safer. B. They can save time and effort.
C. They can reduce flight delays. D. They can give detailed information.
14、Who can first get the electronic tags for free?
A. Alaska Airlines' frequent fliers. B. Loyal program members.
C. The workers of Alaska Airlines. D. Alaska Airlines' mobile app users.
15、Where does this text probably come from?
A.A science fiction. B.A tourist book.
C.An advertisement. D. A science magazine.

Kusa, a 10-year-old boy, has looked out for his big sister, 12-year-old Pahnuly, for as long as he can remember. At school, he helps her unpack her things at her locker. At home, they read together, make up games and practice counting.
Pahnuly has autism(自闭症). People with autism often have trouble talking with others. They might repeat things over and over, or be interested in only one subject. But it was Pahnuly that inspired Kusa to think differently. One day, they played ping-pong with their parents at home in Brooklyn Park. But Pahnuly struggled with it. So Kusa wanted to find a way to make it more suited to his sister's needs. He came up with a new game based on ping-pong. It is called Aeropong because the ball seems to float in the air. In Aeropong, a ping-pong ball hangs from a frame. The players hit the ball back and forth. It's kind of like tennis, but no one has to go chase the ball.
At first, Pahnuly didn’t show much interest. But soon, Kusa heard a sound coming from the front room. Clack(吧嗒声). Clack. Clack. Pahnuly had picked up a paddle(球拍) and was tapping the ball. Then, she started hitting it back and forth with Kusa and their dad. Eventually, the family took a trip to Menards to buy some PVC pipes and fashioned a portable frame for the ball to hang from. They also designed rules and ways to score points.
Word spread at school about Kusa's game. His teacher, Stasica, asked him to tell his class about Aeropong. Kusa is usually shy. But when he talked about his game, his face lit up with excitement, Stasica said. Kusa told classmates the game is meant to make people smile, especially his big sister. "When she scores," he said, "she dances."
Paragraph 1:
Aeropong has become an essential family activity in Kusa's home.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 2:
Widely spreading on the Internet, Kusa's game got attention across the country.

34、答案:
Paragraph 1:
Aeropong has become an essential family activity in Kusas home. The family all play wearing T-shirts with the game’s name on them. They’ve enjoyed the time of picking up a paddle to play. The family has also made videos to capture these kinds of moments. Pahnuly watches the online clips nearly every day. At the end of one clip, she jumped up and down. She was celebrating a win at Aeropong over her dad. She waved her pink cat paddle in the air. Cats are Pahnuly's favorite animal.
Paragraph 2:
Widely spreading on the Internet, Kusa's game got attention across the country. It soon gained great popularity. Meanwhile, an increasing number of kids with autism began to play it, which not only helped to improve their hand-eye coordination but also gave them an opportunity to communicate with their families. Actually, a toy company decided to produce Aeropong on an industrial scale. For Kusa, the success of his game has led to a change in his dream. Now, he dreams of becoming a "creator and businessman". He said his big sister has already inspired him to create other inventions.
