The subway train is running fast. A boy is reading a book carefully in his seat in the subway while many other people are playing their phones.
To encourage reading,a Chinese company started the book-sharing activity. They put over 10,000 books around the underground, in taxis and on planes in Beijing. Since the activity started, it has earned the support of many people, even some popular stars. The book-sharing activity, however, drew much morecriticism than praise. For some books were left untouched, some books were taken away by cleaners. People also complained that they couldn’t get to the books—the underground was too crowded.
Most people thought it could do little to encourage reading. “I think the best result is that people take selfies（自拍）when they pick up the books and write a post in WeChat. After that, they will just bring the books back home and put them on their bookshelves,”wrote one Weibo user.

Guangdong Lion Dance

Cute lion heads, loud gongs and drums, an excited crowd-these are all parts of the lion dances you often see during Chinese holidays.
The lion dance has been performed for more than 2, 000 years. Chinese people believe that lions can drive away bad things and bring good luck.
Wang Rentao, 41, had been performing the lion dance for 28 years. Born in Zhongkeng village in Dongguan, Guangdong, Wang watched villagers perform it when he was young. “It’s an old tradition here and the love for lion dance is in everyone’s blood,” Wang said.
He is now the head of the village’s lion dance group. Last year, the group took part in the celebration of the 70th birthday of New China at Tian’an men Square. “I feel very proud,” Wang said. The group is famous for dancing on piles (木桩), one of the most difficult lion dance skills. Performers jump from one pile to another at a height of about 2.5 meters. The piles are about 1.8 meters away from each other.
“The training is really hard. Performers need to have some Kungfu skills first. Even with that, they can fall from the piles and get hurt,” Wang said. “It can take many years to learn this skill.”
The lion dance is popular not just in China, but in Chinese communities in other countries. Many Chinese see the lion as a symbol of China. The lion dance reminds them of the culture of their homeland.

Everyone knows that climate (气候) has changed a lot in recent years. And it is becoming a serious problem, we have a lot of work to do in order to prevent (防止) it. One of the best ways is to plant more trees. Trees can take in CO2 in the air and prevent global (全球) warming.
According to a new report, China and India are doing a great job in “greening” the world.
Chi Chen, a student at Boston University, has been working with NASA to check the Earth’s green vegetation (植被). He and other researchers use a NASA camera to see how many new trees have grown.
