    What Is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a large language model chatbot developed by OpenAI based on GPT=3.5 (Click to learn more). It has a remarkable ability to interact in a conversational dialogue form and provide responses that can appear surprisingly human. Large language models perform the task of predicting the next word in a series of words.
    Is ChatGPT Free To Use?
The use of ChatGPT is currently free during the “research preview” time. The chatbot is currently open for users to try out and provide feedback on the responses so that the AI can become better at answering questions and to learn from its mistakes. However, ChatGPT is envisioned as a tool that the public will eventually have to pay to use.
    How Can ChatGPT Be Used?
ChatGPT can write code, poems, songs, and even short stories in the style of a specific author. The expertise in following directions elevates ChatGPT from an information source to a tool that can be asked to accomplish a task. This makes it useful for writing an essay on virtually any topic. ChatGPT can function as a tool for generating outlines for articles or even entire novels. It will provide a response for virtually any task that can be answered with written text.
    Limitations
●ChatGPT sometimes writes plausible-sounding but incorrect or nonsensical answers. Fixing this issue is challenging, as: (1) during RL training, there’s currently no source of truth; (2) training the model to be more cautious causes it to decline questions that it can answer correctly; and (3) supervised training misleads the model because the ideal answer depends on what the model knows, rather than what the human demonstrator knows.
●ChatGPT is sensitive to tweaks (微调) to the input phrasing or attempting the same prompt multiple times. For example, given one phrasing of a question, the model can claim to not know the answer, but given a slight rephrase (重新措辞), it can answer correctly.
●While we’ve made efforts to make the model refuse inappropriate requests, it will sometimes respond to harmful instructions or exhibit biased behavior. We’re using the Moderation API to warn or block certain types of unsafe content, but we expect it to have some false negatives and positives for now. We’re eager to collect user feedback to aid our ongoing work to improve this system.
11、Which of the following tasks can NOT be performed by ChatGPT?
    A. Writing a poem. B. Drawing a painting.
    C. Writing a song. D. Creating a short story in O. Henry’s style.
12、What can we know about ChatGPT?
    A. It only gives true answers.
    B. It is free of charge at the moment.
    C. Its limitations are easy to overcome.
    D. It can respond to harmful questions sometimes.
13、Where is the text probably taken from?
    A. A website. B. A brochure. C. A leaflet. D. A novel.
Over the course of the pandemic, the landscape of education has greatly changed, but that hasn’t kept one brilliant girl whose dreams have never been earthbound from reaching for the stars.
While most pre-teens are facing the challenges of middle school, at age 12, Alena Analeigh has already earned her high school diploma and is set to attend Arizona State University via remote learning.
With a planned double major in astronomical science and chemistry, Alena’s goal is to become a NASA engineer by the time she’s 16, where she hopes to employ her extraordinary skills to build rovers (火星车) like the ones sent to Mars on missions.
“I’ll be driving one of those future space mobiles by the time I graduate from college,” she told ABC News. A distant goal, perhaps. But according to Alena’s mother, Daphne, her daughter had already set her sights on a career with the space agency when she was a little girl. “She would always say, ‘Mom, I’m going to work for NASA,’” Daphne told ABC News. “Then she would start saying, ‘I’m going to be the youngest black girl to ever work for NASA.’”
Alena’s space journey began with her early interest in Lego building toys, from which she built complex models of everything from the Taj Mahal and the Disney castle to the Apollo II rover and a NASA rocket. While building Lego toys, she learned to bring her imaginations to completion. That is mainly what enables this talent to get closer and closer to her life goal, and her smart scientific mind has led Alena to be a sharp observer in other fields of life as well.
Alena sees different opportunities in STEM (short for science, technology, engineering and math) for women and people of color. She hopes to serve as an example to other girls—they shouldn’t let the opinions of others keep them from going after their own dreams. “It doesn’t matter what your age is or what you’re planning to do,” she told ABC News. “Go for it; dream and then achieve it.”
14、How is Alena different from most pre-teens?
    A. She attends high school via remote learning.
    B. She is already qualified for higher education.
    C. She has got the chance to set foot on Mars.
    D. She teaches her friends to build rover models.
15、What does Alena’s mother say about Alena’s career goal?
    A. It took root very early. B. It sounds unrealistic.
    C. It was once destroyed. D. It proves challenging.
16、What can we learn about Alena from paragraph 5?
    A. She has designed best-selling toys. B. Her enthusiasm for Lego toys fades.
    C. She likes traveling around the world. D. Her interest prepares her for her life goal.
17、What message does the story seem to convey?
    A. Fame is a great thirst of the young. B. Success means seizing opportunities.
    C. Interest and ambition urge one forward. D. Experience helps to promote excellence.
Dolphins are social and intelligent animals. And, like the way humans maintain relationships by hugging or giving a handshake, dolphins breathe together at the same time when they come up from the water for air. This shared act is important for creating social connections. But sharing the same air and area is also spreading an infectious and deadly disease among the dolphins.
Janet Mann and other scientists are trying to understand the virus. They discovered it in the water off the American states of Virginia and Maryland. It is now spreading to other Atlantic coast dolphins.
Mann explains that the dolphin virus is in the lungs. “When dolphins breathe together at the surface, they’re sharing tiny droplets just like we do when we’re talking with each other,” she said.
During her 35 years of studying dolphins, Janet Mann has noticed that even though dolphins have close friends, they visit other dolphins and leave the groups often. Following the social lives of dolphins in the Chesapeake Bay has permitted researchers to identify over 2,000 dolphin individuals. They can remember them by their special shapes and markings on their back fins.
Two researchers, Melissa Collier and Ann-Marie Jacoby, saw two dolphins. A third dolphin joined his friends. All three dolphins came to the surface of the water and breathed together. “This is typical, male behavior. The males stay pretty coordinated (协调) with each other. The females sync (同步), but not as regularly. They syne mostly with their offspring (幼崽).” Mann says. This behavior pattern might explain why more male dolphins have died in the most recent outbreak of the virus.
Viruses are naturally occurring in the wild, but human activities in the ocean can make the virus worse by wakening environments and populations even more. Pollution from carbon and plastics, limited food sources, along with ocean warming from climate change, harm the animals. These factors weaken the dolphins’ immune systems. “So, they are extremely vulnerable (脆弱的, 易受伤的)to virus outbreaks.” Mann says.
18、What are Mann and other scientists trying to do?
    A. Record the dolphins’ social habits.
    B. Increase the population of dolphins.
    C. Compare the viruses among dolphins.
    D. Study the spread of the virus among dolphins.
19、What does the underlined word “them” in paragraph 4 refer to?
    A. Researchers. B. Close friends.
    C. The social lives of dolphins D. Over 2,000 dolphin individuals.
20、Why did more male dolphins die in the recent outbreak of the virus?
    A. They absorbed more air than females.
    B. They did more social activities together.
    C. They came to the surface of the water more
    D. They were more vulnerable to viruses.
21、Which is a cause of the decline in dolphins’ immune system?
    A. Ocean warming. B. Dolphins breathing together.
    C. Researchers studying dolphins. D. The growing population of dolphins.
Technology usually distracts us from nature. But now technology is “offering us an opportunity to listen to nonhumans in powerful ways, reviving our connection to the natural world,” wrote professor Karen Bakker in her new book, The Sounds of Life: How Digital Technology Is Bringing Us Closer to the Worlds of Animals.
All around the animal kingdom, there are sounds that we struggle to pick up and understand. Elephants, for example, communicate with each other using infrasound (次声波), a sound frequency far below our human hearing range. Coral (珊瑚) in the ocean also communicates with each other through sound waves, with one purpose being to attract baby coral to areas where it can successfully grow. This is a shocking fact as coral doesn’t have any ears! Scientists have placed listening devices in these environments to pick up sounds humans are normally unable to detect.
After the sounds are recorded, AI is then able to determine their meaning, according to the news website Vox. There are now whole databases of whale songs and honeybee dances. Bakker wrote that one day this information could be turned into “a zoological version of Google Translate”. One animal language Bakker wrote about is that of the elephant. She explained how elephants “have a different signal for honeybee, which is a threat, and a different signal for human,” in an interview with Vox. “Moreover, they distinguish between threatening humans and non-threatening humans,” she said.
Technology can not only understand the animals, but also communicate back to them. For example, bees use dances to communicate to their peers where to go in search of nectar(花蜜), A research team in Germany, therefore, plugged the bee language AI database system into a robot bee, allowing the robot to create a dance routine that can tell the bees which direction to move, Vox reported. Whereas in the past language creation had been limited to mainly apes(类人猿), with there being many examples of chimpanzees(黑猩猩) having been taught sign language to communicate with humans, this new technology now allows humans to socialize with different animals throughout the animal kingdoms.
22、What can we know about coral from paragraph 2?
    A. They communicate through infrasound.
    B. They have no ears and cannot pick up sound.
    C. Their sounds are within our range of hearing.
    D. Sound waves help baby coral choose their home.
23、Which of the following animals have different reactions for different objects?
    A. Elephants. B. Coral. C. Whales. D. Honeybees.
24、What did researchers create the robot bee for?
    A. collecting more bee dances B. showing direction to bees
    C. learning the language of bees. D. helping bees search for their friends.
25、Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
    A. Animals interact with each other through technology
    B. Technology always distracts people from nature
    C. Communicating with animals via AI
    D. Humans socialize with chimpanzees

Once in a school, about 50 students from different junior high schools formed a new high school class. The class was made up of active and outstanding young students but the problem was that they wouldn’t share information to solve learning problems with each other and it was a headache. For instance, each of them wanted to achieve good results, but they did not want to let others know their learning progress and their own advantages, nor did they want to expose their weaknesses.
So one day, Michelle, headmaster of the class, invited them to an event. In this event, there were several fun activities organized for everyone.
For one of the activities, Michelle brought the class into a classroom which had 50 desks and envelopes of the same quantity with names on them. The students found their own envelopes and made them in the corresponding positions. Everyone was excited and was wondering what kind of activity it would be.
Michelle took a few minutes to say, “Each of you picks up the envelope in front of you and solves the problems in it by yourself. Let me divide the class into several groups, and the list is shown on the blackboard. The group that solves all the problems first wins. ”
Everyone immediately picked up a pen and began to work on the problem. All of them were absorbed because they were competitive. Solving difficult problems is an attractive thing for those who love learning. However, even after 20 minutes only a few scattered (分散的) students were able to finish the problems. They didn’t give up and were thinking long and hard to solve the problems. Michelle came and told them that this round was over and everyone should go for next round of activity.

It's not a very easy word to say, so let's practice. First say [kɔr] like "core" and then say [əl], "coral". Coral is an orangey-pink. So, it's a little orange and a little pink. Corals are beautiful sea animals. There are many different colored corals, but the orangey-pink ones are the most popular. Pantone picked it because it's a very warm and natural color. It makes people feel comfortable. Coral is also a happy and energetic color. Pantone wants to bring coral into your daily life. Some coral cushions on the sofa may work. Or perhaps you can buy a coral lipstick. If you want to get together with your friends, a coral dress will be a smart choice. Would you like to have coral in your life?Or, maybe you're not a fan of coral. What's your favorite color?Let us know in the comments. Thanks for listening!Catch you again next time.
