The English speech competition is amazingly fantastic. Not only has it highlighted a thought-provoking subject and a passion-fueling atmosphere but also participants have integrated emotion with body language based on the spectacular wording. How can I justify not being absorbed deeply?
Lost in the rational reflection, I have enhanced my awareness that I will persistently transform my bad habits into good ones on a step-by-step basis and cling to them to cultivate the healthy lifestyle. Moreover, we are what we repeatedly do. Alternatively, healthy lifestyle will facilitate my good habits.
Given such a wonderful activity, what I am enthusiastically expecting is that the more suchlike activities are held, the more far-reaching significance they will have on us. Hopefully, we will take more active part.

All of a sudden, a slim shadow danced in the bedroom, startling her. In that split second, the slimly dancing shadow startled me. It took me what seemed a century to realize a tree waving in the violent wind was reflected on the window. Meanwhile, she began to cry, her mouth wide opening, arms waving and legs kicking. Obviously, she panicked too. Startled as I was, I tiptoed closer to her little bed, held out my hand to stroke hers, patted her on the back with the other. She stopped crying knowingly and grinned from ear to ear with her eyes twinkling again. I breathed a sigh of relief.
Having comforted her, I felt some change slowly happened to me. My loneliness was disappearing out of nowhere now. Instead, a sense of responsibility as an elder brother was overwhelming me. Not only did her arrival take over the center of the whole family initially but also she started to become the center of my attention too. Her

cute round face and sparkling eyes arrested my love for her. I looked around and found parents awake and smiling at me warmly. It was just at that moment that a shadow of a happy family dancing in the gentle wind was reflected on the window. It was just at that moment that I knew from the bottom of my heart that my little sister was the best gift I’d ever got.
A 篇
根据题干中的 the world’s first printed cookbook可将信息定位到 Libro de arte coquinaria 部分中的 Martino’s work ... his recipes made up a major part of the world’s first printed cookbook,由此可知答 案。
22. D。 The author, Lin Hong, was a man of letters who lived in the Southern Song Dynasty 和 Wushi Zhongkui lu 部分中的 one of two surviving cookbooks by a Chinese woman,以及 Scholars guess that she lived in the larger Shanghai region during the Southern Song Dynasty
根据题干中的 the Deichman collection 可将信息定位到 Complete Kitchen and Cellar Dictionary 部分中的 The book has been in the Deichman collection since it opened in 1785,由此可知答案。
He’d play harmonies in the background on the guitar, and he’d encourage me to improvise 和 I’d make up music 以及 she was a little composer playing along with her dad 可知,Sasha 小 时候跟着父亲学习作曲。
25. C。 The father’s expectation was eventually met when the daughter rediscovered jazz music 和尾句 Finally, Sasha decided to study jazz instead of musical theater at the University of New Orleans, where her father headed the Jazz Studies Program
26. A。 根据最后一段中的 while her father is more focused on traditional jazz and teaching,
Sasha likes to produce music with more electronic trends than Steve’s
Now, researchers at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) have developed an algorithm that can analyse the content people post online The research team has spent two years working on a deep-learning model that identifies the five needs described by Glasser
The research team believe that their study can help improve preventive measures, ranging from identification to improved treatment when a person has been diagnosed with a mental health
32. A。 The same is true for the chemical additives found in many plastics.
Requiring producers to list all additives would be a major step towards informing the public and helping them make decisions regarding environmental impact and human health
Professor Tamara Galloway ... Our recommendations for a sustainability scale are designed to reduce some of the confusion around plastic disposal Professor Kevin
Thomas ... We hope that our recommendations initiate a reassessment of plastic labelling and that carrying out a sustainability scale will allow individuals to make informed decisions on how they use plastics 可知,结合两者观 点,B 正确。

根据文章标题,如何在新环境中获得成功,首段用 “How” 的 问句承上启下——“How can you get along with others? 所以 G 选项“How can you get other people to pay attention to you and respect you?”(如何让别人注意到你并且尊敬你?)
根据下文“In such a case, people who are more willing to learn new things can become more flexible and be able to meet new requirements in their job.(这种情况下, 愿意学习新东西的人会变得更加灵活,也能达到他们工作中的新要求。)”
Have a good sense of judgement on important aspects. Learning or
working in a new environment, you need to have a good sense of judgement when joining a discussion or making a decision.(对于重要的方面要有好的判断力。
39.根据下文“Before you walk in, think to yourself, “I own the room.” Then, walk in holding your head high and smile.(进去之前,自己在心里想着,“我就是这个房间的主任。”
故选 A。

41. B 根据前文,主人公 Arens 听到了呼救的声音(the cry of help)。再根据 about 15 feet from the frozen banks 得知这个位置是呼喊的 cry 的“来源”source。
43. C 根据前文猎犬溺水,正努力的爬上冰面,struggling to climb to a thin of ice, 注意形容词 thin,说 明冰很薄并不是一块儿冰而应该是一层薄薄的冰面,所以排除 block 和 cube,应该选择 C. layer“一层”更符 合题意。
How she got there no one knows, but an elderly man was already on the scene, determined to save her.
He’d 44 the pond in a rowboat and was hacking (凿) the ice with a rock to create a path to
the dog.
(所以)会有很好的机会 had a better chance, 所以选择 C. better,干扰项为 B 选项 more,但是因为这里的 a chance 为单数,所以不能选择 B。
47. D 由后文得知,Arens 要跳入水中救狗 crashing into the freezing water,所以这里他要脱下 took off 他的 球鞋 sneakers 和袜子 socks。
He then put the dog into the boat and slid it back to the shore,在岸边站着的 bystanders 旁观者把狗送到附近的房子,此处要选择一个形容词 来形容旁观者的心情,看到这样紧急的救援行动以及命悬一线的狗,旁观者的心情应该是焦急的 anxious, 所以选择 D。
54. A 狗冲向 Arens 的怀抱,并亲吻他的脸颊,考察固定搭配 kiss sb on the cheek 亲吻某人的脸颊。
That special delivery is the highlight in my career.

W: Okay, but how can you take great photos with an average camera? I’ve been to your latest wildlife exhibition.
All of your pictures looked, you know, very “expensive”.
M: Aha, they did take a lot of effort. But what really made them “expensive” was the time I spent tracking those animals and catching precious moments, not the camera.
W: So the key lies in you. M: Correct.
W: Hmm, Sam, I’ve got a class in five minutes. Do you think you’ll have time later at noon? We can talk over a cup of coffee.

W: Well, I had just sent in the final edits for The Song of Music then and my editor asked what was next. Honestly, I had been so focused on finishing the last one that it hadn’t occurred to me what was going to come next. But
when I caught sight of a copy of Odyssey, I knew immediately what I wanted to write next.
M: Second, when do you write each day?
W: I start writing around 9 am and go until 2 pm, which is usually when my inspiration dries up. Then I go to lunch, take a walk in my backyard and go on with my writing. I used to go cycling in the gym, but it took too much energy.
M: Next one, what is your favorite book?
W: The Upper World. I think there is no more urgent challenge facing us than the climate crisis. This book brings clearly home what is at risk and …

(Text 10)
Last year we went on an unsupported trip to the North Pole. By “unsupported” I mean that we pulled everything without the help of any cars, boats or dogs. The only help that we had was from kites. They pulled us and our things along as we skied. I’ve always been very sporty and loved swimming even before I could walk. It was at about age fifteen that I became keen on adventurous activities. At the time I discovered I enjoyed boating very much. That helped me take some amazing trips and I haven’t looked back since. I love reading about famous explorers. Richard Weber, Misha Malakhov, and Fridtjof Nansen were all on my reading list. However, if I were to name a hero, it would be Nansen, the Norwegian explorer. He was also good at science and politics. All in all, a very remarkable man. Reading Nansen’s biography taught me that the key thing all explorers need is the ability to keep their minds under control. If they can’t manage that, they won’t succeed even if their bodies are in top physical condition.
