In 2018, Ma got a chance to follow Sheng Yuan and Cao Yuhan, famous musicians from the Central Conservatory of Music, to study music in Beijing. She left her home in Ningxia to follow her musical dream, though she knew there would be more challenges ahead.

A survey made by China Daily last year found that eight of ten senior middle school students were nearsighted (近视), compared with 71.6 percent in junior middle school, 36 percent in primary school and 14 percent of 6-year-olds in kindergarten. Overall 53.6 percent were nearsighted.
The growing prevalence (流行) of myopia is not only a Chinese problem, but an especially East Asian one. In South Korea, 96 percent people(below the age 20)have myopia. In Singapore, the number is 82 percent. However, in the UK it is about 20-30 percent.
Some scientists think it is not good that so many students are nearsighted. It brings much trouble in their life. For example, in the bathroom, the glasses people wear are easily covered by heat, which makes it impossible to see everything. What do you think if you put your glasses down before going to bed, you can’t find them in the morning?
Several factors have something to do with the high rate of nearsightedness in China’s children and teenagers, including lack(缺乏)of outdoor physical activities, lack of enough sleep due to heavy homework and too much use of electronic products.
Biologists compared Singaporeans living in Singapore with those living in Australia. They found that 29 percent of the Singaporean students had nearsightedness compared with just 3 percent in Sydney. The main reason was once again, time spent outside.
29.What does the underlined word “myopia” in Paragraph 2 mean in Chinese?
    A.散光 B.近视 C.远视
30.Which daily activity may cause nearsightedness?
A.Doing homework far into the night every day.
    B.Playing basketball on the playground.
C.Sleeping at least eight hours a day.
31.Which of the following is NOT true according to the text?
A.Most of Chinese senior high school students are nearsighted.
B.Nearsightedness has something to do with sleep.
C.The number of nearsighted teens in South Korea is the same as that in Britain.

As I continue my task, I have learned that the number of kids who have no books is in the hundreds of millions. So I just can’t give up.”
She has recently set a new goal: to distribute books to kids in need in every state in the United States, and every country in the world.
32.Which city is Maria Keller from?
    A.the USA B.Minnesota C.Minneapolis
